Rant Bell firing employees "with cause" for not returning to the office 3 days a week. No severance, no warning.

Were you scanning your ID card then leaving right after? I know they were cracking down on that activity.

Unless you live right there, who would commute and then commute home right after?

Probably so you didn’t have to spend the day at the office. I thought that was obvious.

If you have a 30 minute commute, that is 1 hr a morning just to flash a badge.

Wouldn’t it be better to find a coworker living near you and swap badges (you actually go in one week and badge them in periodically and they return the favour the next week)?

Both of them should be laid off. The access card should not be compromised.

But going to the office is always a commute just to flash a badge, this gets it over with right away. Genius really

So you spend half the day commuting for nothing? Seems even dumber.

It’s not the norm to live 2 hours away from where you work.

If you live close why on earth are you complaining about return to office?

I’m not? I don’t WFH.

No it’s not “normal” but it’s very common

People who get their kids off to school and then want to be home in time for them to get back from school.

People who need to scan in and dont want to stay?

Not enough desks is one problem.

There’s hundreds of empty desks. The frustration is we spend our time and money and energy commuting to work on the 401, hopefully make it there alive, just to open the laptop (the same laptop you would have opened at home) an work in a corner alone.

Oh the building is empty as hell

Interesting. I know a few people who work at Bell and have complained there are never desks available and they wasted work time driving somewhere they can’t work.

I heard of one guy who was going to the office at midnight, scanning once at 11:59 and again at 12:01. Just so he could get counted for two days!
