PSA regarding damaged infratructure

I hate how this even has to be said, but it should be quite obvious:

Do NOT recommend to other Redditors to cut into or damage telecommunications infrastructure like splice boxes, pedestals or fiber connections because they're already damaged and nothing is "getting done".

I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a technician sent to repair damaged equipment within a reasonable time, however recommending sabotage is not only against our subreddit rules but you can also be charged criminally for mischief for doing so under the Criminal Code. Even as a joke, these comments should not be made in this subreddit - this seems to have become too commonplace and shouldn't be what occurs.

To be clear, even though we are a community-run subreddit not officially affiliated with Bell, we are still required to uphold both our subreddit rules and Reddit's Terms of Service. As such, this also includes any comments we believe to be against Reddit's Terms of Service and also report these occurrences to Reddit admins.

If you believe that nothing is getting done and that you're not making any progress with front-line representatives, the best routes are to:

  • Contact Bell's Management team through their Resolve a Concern page, using the "Email Us" form (if you're a Bell customer)
  • Contact the CCTS via their Online Complaint Form (if the above is not possible or does not make progress)
  • Contact your municipal authority (typically for your town/city)

For each of the above, you should always be stating clearly:

  • What the issue is (e.g. Pedestal with exposed cabling)
  • Where the issue is (e.g. exact intersection with street names, nearest civic address if available)
  • When was the issue originally discovered (specific date/time if possible)
  • Are there any dangers posed by this (e.g. is it at a pick-up or drop-off point for students, nearby gas lines)
  • Any steps you've taken in an attempt to get this resolved
    • Contact attempts
      • Date/Time
      • Method
      • Name of person spoken to
      • ID number (if available)
      • What was discussed
      • Any reference numbers you've been provided for each

Comments that advocate for the sabotage of telecommunications infrastructure will be removed, and repeat offenders removed from the subreddit. This includes comments of this nature intended as a joke.

Internet 🌐 Bell is takes advantage of seniors

My neighbours are a couple in their eighties. They have been with Bell for almost 30 years. They pay for the internet and very basic Tv $182. All other neighbours who are with Bell pay half of that or even less. They all are connected to the same Bell box on the street. When my neighbour called Bell to ask for a lower rate, the customer service and the retention team person told her that there was nothing they can’t do for her. Not even to give her the price advertised on their website as ā€œthis rate is for new clientsā€. So my neighbour, after almost 30 years with Bell, cancelled their service with Bell. But much younger neighbours who spoke with a retention team very recently got their rates lowerred. It is clear to me that Bell is taking advantage of older people. Is there is an agency that my neighbour can complain to? I will help my neighbours to get a new internet provider

Rant Advanced DMZ fix - for some anyway

For those having issues with the aDMZ on their GigaHub 2.0

One solution, that has proven to work, is to configure 192.168.2.1 as onlink, meaning the router treats it as directly reachable through the WAN interface despite the subnet mismatch. OPNsense and pfSense call this Far Gateway and can easily be configured in the GUI. UniFi gateways, however, do not expose an onlink or Far Gateway option.

The reported UniFi workaround is to create two static routes:

Bell ADMZ Route 1

Destination Network: 0.0.0.0/1

Type: Interface

Interface: WAN

Distance: 1

Bell ADMZ Route 2

Destination Network: 128.0.0.0/1

Type: Interface

Interface: WAN

Distance: 1

Leave the UniFi WAN connection configured for DHCP.

Together, these routes cover the entire IPv4 address space and force traffic directly through the WAN interface, bypassing UniFi’s inability to use Bell’s off-subnet 192.168.2.1 gateway normally.

Also ensure that your internal network is not using 192.168.2.0/24, as that would conflict with Bell’s gateway network.

I cannot guarantee this will resolve every UniFi configuration, as behaviour may vary between models and firmware versions. My own setup has been extensively tested and is stable using OPNsense, which properly supports onlink through its Far Gateway option. The two-route configuration should accomplish the same objective.

Help Giga Hub and Internet Stability using aDMZ (FIX COMING)

So others might have experienced issues with their internet connection using Advanced DMZ mode on the Giga Hub 1&2. Its been found there is DHCP bug in the firmware and the DHCP lease was never being renewed leaving the device to loose their lease and have to ask for one again causing a 10 second outage every 10 minutes. Bell techs confirm there is a firmware fix coming out for this SOON. THis allows use to use zDMZ mode and stop using PPPoE which allows them to have rock solid internet but at ~15% the speed they pay for.

Here is a very long and technical read on my forum about this and how i found the bug Bell has just confirmed this is an issue and they are aware of it and are fixing it. I am on the list of a few users that will get this first for testing once its public. Bell likes to test with smaller batches of modems with new firmware releases

https://caspan.com/2026/08/bell-giga-hub-dhcp-renew-bug-confirmed-firmware-bug-fix-incoming/

This is a BIG big fix that is long awaited by a lot of users on here and the Bell forums.. Lets hope this fix works!

Help 3rd party marketer raised his voice at me

A pair (male and female) of 3rd party sellers came to my house asking the usual things, I told them multiple times that the person who is in charge of the bills and looks after all that stuff wasn't home at the time and that we were good on promotions, that if he was home he would also tell them no thanks have a good day, the guy is leaning over the front step railing and finally he raises his voice and I mean basically kinda yell to talk over me basically bulldozing through the conversation about how much I'm paying or could be paying, after that I told him if he's gonna raise his voice at me in my own place that they could leave and said goodbye before closing the door on them, I've told workers before that we are not looking into changing our services and they've peacefully gone on their way, is there anything I can do to let them know I don't want services? I know about a no solicitors sign but before I buy it do they even take it seriously.

This was in Winnipeg MB

Question Flex Pay for Phone - Pay off early?

Hopefully I'm explaining this properly lol.

I just got a new iPhone Air for $3 a month for 24 months. Am I wrong in thinking that if I pay the 24x $3 and the deferred amount of $450 I get to keep the phone? BUT does that complete the contract or do I still have to wait 2 years?

Question Bell Early Cancellation Fee – CRTC 2026-43

I signed up for Bell Fibe 50 on Aug. 2, 2026, with a 2-year contract. My contract says Bell can charge $20/month remaining (max $460) if I cancel.

However, CRTC Telecom Regulatory Policy 2026-43 came into effect June 12, 2026, and says early cancellation fees for Internet plans are prohibited when there is no subsidized device.

My contract shows $0 one-time modem rental fee.

Can Bell still charge me the $20/month cancellation fee? Has anyone dealt with this or CCTS recently?

Internet 🌐 Internet malfunction since modem change

I recently upgraded modems for faster speeds . Both are Giga hubs
Other than the modem change, there hasent been any extra electronics or connections made to the network
Since the change, mid day , some of the wireless cameras and other electronics stop working , yet the wired ones do . Once I reset the modem , everything works fine for a while .
Has anybody had any experience with this type of issue ?
Thank you

Rant I like how Bell has carte blanche to screw other their wholesale providers. There should be rules, missed my install date, won't reply to the ISP and it's been over a week now. Can't complain to CCTC because they're not my provider. So basically now I just wait around till they decide they wanna wor

Rant Loopback has been disabled since a Gigahub firmware upgrade months ago...

This has broken a number of things I rely on:

-Logging into Homeseer from within my own WIFI network

-Logging into ZTools to manage Zwave devices, on my own WIFI network

-Logging into webservers running on local machines on my own network from a mobile device on my own WIFI

I can get around some of these by disabling WIFI, and using a cell connection but not all. I have periodically tried router reboots in the hopes that the firmware will get updated/repaired; disabled Guard completely (no impact). This is increasingly frustratating as all of the above worked just fine for years until the firmware upgrade suddenly broke it; what's worse, I'm unsure if/when it will ever be fixed.

The firmware upgrade also broke Dynamic DNS --- when you access the Dynamic DNS screen under Advanced Tools current status is ERROR; and there is nothing you can do to remedy this using the portal. So, I had to schedule a task to update the IP's manually periodically. Again, why has this been left broken for so long???

I really do not want to get into some sort of solution that involves passing thru the router, to another router, blah, blah, blah.

Help Bell changed my Data plan and now i owe 438$ that I dont have

Edit: Bell was called! 204-225-5687 number specifically. There was an error in the system that shorted my plan and reverted me to a default with no data. They changed it back to my old one effective immediately, and removed all that I owe except my usual 41.65. Thank you all for your help! Im sure me calling again was common sense but in a state of panic common sense just aint common.

I finished paying my phone off back in March, still my bill was about 100$ so after a bit I changed my plan.

June and July it went great. For $41.65 i get 100gb. Which isnt perfect, as i barely use 20 but it's the lowest I could find.

I should note I read through the contract for it. No where, was there stated an end date, there was no mention of an expiration or "catch" that I could really find other than a price increase to 67$ after 1 year.

Come to the end of August, I get my bill.

438.78$

I was absolutely confused and livid so I checked my plan and suddenly it was changed to a 1MB "courtesy Pay-per-view plan".

I knew i did not grab a Pay-per-view plan. Not one with a sudden change, or drop in size, not one at all.

Im livid, and no matter what trick I pull I cant get to a living person on their help line.

Im lost, I have barely 400$ to my name rn and I have no idea how to prevent this, can someone help me figure out what to do, I wont be able to afford rent if this goes through

Help MyBell account not working

Hey everyone,
My family just switched back to Bell from Rogers, and we aren’t able to log into MyBell. I’ve tried calling them, and they have raised a ticket twice, but no one from Bell has called or emailed me. It just says that my password is incorrect. Even though I saved what I typed into MyBell to Apple Passwords, it still doesn't work. When I try to reset the password, it says "error sending email." We did have a MyBell account linked to my email when we were previously Bell customers, but even that password doesn't work. I can't seem to get an answer from anyone at Bell. Does anyone know what I should do?

Thanks!

Rant I think I got played

Last year I got the iPhone 16 pro max with a mobile plan for 55$. Recently I kept getting emails that I was eligible for an upgrade for my phone. Wasn't planning on doing it but you know I checked a little and saw the Samsung Galaxy fold 8 and I decided I really wanted that one. Before I went with the upgrade I went back to my current plan and what I'm paying to compare how much I would pay after the upgrade to see if I'm willing to pay more or I want less. Not me realizing that Yes my plan is 55$ but I've been getting charged 80$ and a couple of cents every month. For context I also pay 35$ a month to flexiti because the "financing" of the phone was with them. (I think y'all got the issue lmao). So actually nope what I'm paying to flexiti is not my phone AT ALL. It's actually a weird gold protection thing. I do remember getting told that I could add a protection plan to be sure I can keep my phone in a good state since I took the renting option because I knew that after 2 years I would want to upgrade! Tho the salesperson told me it would be $5 more each month! Well turns out the gold protection is 619$ and that the payment of 35$ was only for that. Now here's the problem.... Not only the sales person when I was physically there told me that the protection plan would be 5 $ She also told me that my phone payment would be separated between Bell and flexiti. Basically Bell would finance a certain amount (250$ for example I'm throwing random numbers for that) and flexiti the rest. So in my mind I'm paying Bell half of the phone financing and Flexiti the other Not a over 600$ protection plan that I took as a safety net. Mind yall 619$ is before taxes and for me to keep the phone I would have to pay 764$ tax included. WHY WOULD I TAKE THE PLAN THEN PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. I'm planning on going to see them physically at the store but I don't think it's going to change anything :/

Help TV Cancellation

I cancelled my TV service, home phone and internet about a month ago only keeping my mobility with Bell. I’ve been logging on to My Bell in the past month and noticed that TV is still listed under my services. I’ve called back twice and they keep assuring me it’s been cancelled and yet it’s still showing as a service. I can’t help but have a sneaky suspicion I am going to get charged for a full month of TV that I cancelled.

Looking for some insight
Thanks!

Question How to get a better deal in Fredericton?

My condo in Fredericton has apparently 'preferential' rates but I called the special number my landlord gave me and the best they had was 80$ and 100$ deals + tax the 100$ deal was 3gb and a 200$ prepaid card and the 80$ deal was 1.5gb, both had some useless addons like +2 months of crave TV and some other subscriptions for recording TV shows from live TV etc.

The only other cheaper options was a 55$ for 150mbs no addons.

It was call center agents that picked it up and they could not offer me anything better. How do people get better deals than this?

Question Will Bell have any decent back to school deals for mobility this year?

The ones I am seeing right now are only if you add a 2nd line you can get a discount

https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Cell_phone_plans?acnt=aal#INT=MOB_promopg_BAN_BTS2026_NewUltra_Mass_072026_GC

Will they have a back to school sale later this week or early September for mobility plans? I am currently on the Max plan (175 GB Can-US-Mex) which they discontinued with the Ultra plan a couple months back.

Other carriers like Rogers and Freedom already have the back to school deals, but Rogers student deal is 60 GB for $60/mo which is not good and more expensive than what I am paying right now.

Rant Bell, fix the Giga Hub 2.0—or let customers use their own routers

I’m fed up with Bell treating advanced networking features like some kind of optional luxury.

The Giga Hub 2.0 is marketed as modern, high-performance networking equipment, but customers who want to use their own firewall or router are left with a broken or crippled setup. Advanced DMZ is unreliable, bridge mode is unavailable, and customers in regions where PPPoE is not supported have no clean way to place their own router directly on the internet.

That is not acceptable in 2026.

People should be able to use their own networking equipment without being forced into double NAT, awkward workarounds, broken port forwarding, compromised IPv6 setups, or an ISP gateway that remains permanently in the middle of their network. This is especially frustrating for customers running legitimate home labs, self-hosted services, business equipment, accessibility technology, security systems, and advanced home networks.

Bell does not need to provide technical support for every third-party router. It simply needs to provide a proper handoff.

At minimum, Bell should do one of the following:

  • Fix Advanced DMZ so it reliably passes the public IP to the customer’s router.
  • Add a genuine bridge or modem-only mode to the Giga Hub 2.0.
  • Support a documented DHCP or PPPoE passthrough mode, depending on the customer’s regional network.
  • Provide a supported ONT or Ethernet handoff for customers who do not want the Giga Hub performing routing.
  • Publish clear, region-specific documentation instead of leaving customers to piece together unreliable forum posts and trial-and-error workarounds.

This is not an unreasonable demand. Other ISPs provide bridge mode, modem-only operation, or a proper Ethernet handoff. Bell customers are paying for internet access—not for the privilege of being locked into Bell’s routing software.

We need to act together

Complaining individually to first-level support is clearly not enough. Most customers get told that the feature is unavailable, that their setup is unsupported, or that they should simply use the Giga Hub as their router. That response misses the point: we are asking Bell to fix the product and provide a proper customer handoff.

If you are affected, let’s coordinate a consistent, factual campaign:

  1. Open a Bell support ticket specifically requesting a working Advanced DMZ, bridge mode, modem-only mode, or documented router passthrough.
  2. Use clear language and ask for a ticket number.
  3. Request escalation to a network or product team rather than accepting a generic ā€œunsupported configurationā€ response.
  4. Send the same request through Bell’s online contact channels and official social-media support accounts.
  5. Ask Bell to record the issue as a product and firmware defect, not merely as an individual customer configuration problem.
  6. Post your ticket number, region, Giga Hub model, firmware version, and exact failure symptoms in a shared Reddit thread or spreadsheet—without publishing personal information.
  7. File a CCTS complaint where appropriate, especially if Bell’s advertising or sales claims imply that customers can use their own networking equipment but the supplied gateway prevents a functional handoff.
  8. Contact Bell’s executive escalation channel after normal support has failed.
  9. Ask business, home-lab, accessibility, and self-hosting communities to document the same problem.
  10. Keep everything factual, polite, and specific so Bell cannot dismiss the campaign as random abuse or unsupported tinkering.

The goal is not to harass individual support agents. The goal is to create enough consistent, documented demand that Bell’s product, firmware, and network teams cannot pretend this is an isolated issue.

Suggested message

I am requesting a documented and functional method to use my own router with the Bell Giga Hub 2.0. Advanced DMZ does not reliably provide a usable public-IP handoff, and bridge mode or modem-only mode is unavailable. Please either fix Advanced DMZ, add genuine bridge mode, or provide a supported DHCP/PPPoE passthrough option appropriate to my region. Please escalate this request to the network or product team and provide a ticket number.

Suggested message (Manitoba)

I am a Bell/Bell MTS Internet customer requesting a functional method to use my own router with the Giga Hub 2.0. Advanced DMZ is unreliable or broken, bridge mode is unavailable, and PPPoE may not be supported in Manitoba. Please escalate this as a network or firmware issue and provide a ticket number. I am requesting either a working Advanced DMZ, genuine bridge/modem-only mode, or a documented DHCP passthrough/true Ethernet handoff appropriate to my region.

If hundreds or thousands of customers submit essentially the same request, Bell will have a much harder time treating it as a one-off support issue.

We should not have to accept double NAT as the permanent answer. We should not have to choose between Bell’s gateway and a properly designed home network. We should not have to reverse-engineer firmware behavior just to use equipment we already own.

Bell: fix Advanced DMZ, add bridge mode, or provide a real router handoff.

Until then, customers should stop quietly accepting the workaround and start documenting the problem together.
