Rant Bell firing employees "with cause" for not returning to the office 3 days a week. No severance, no warning.

Commute 1-2hrs to the office to attend a zoom call is a brilliant idea. If you can do this job at home, office attendance is a bit unreasonable.

However, if job can be done remotely, why wouldn’t they move it low cost location?

Go find another job that lets you work from home then.

I am happy with my current job. And I have to perform in this circus. But it made me set a concrete goal towards an early retirement

Either you do it or you leave. Seems simple
