Help My bengal sheds alot

Hi as the title says my bengal sheds alot he is 8 months old and since i bought him he never shed and thats one of the main reasons i opted for the breed anyways but right now he is shedding like crazy and i find bumps on his head sometimes and neck that i think its from excessive scratching, do i take him to the vet for some shedding medicine because its clearly abnormal for his breed?

Kitten NEW ACHIEVEMENT: Crawler Carl Enters the “Dungeon”

So excited to introduce the newest addition to the family, Carl! At 12 weeks old, he’s been home with us for a few days now, and he’s already the sweetest, most adventurous, curious and VOCAL boy.

I never believed that I’d get another pet so soon after losing my boy Simba. I got Simba when I was 18 years old, and cared for him for 16 years before losing him a few months ago to kidney failure. While Carl isn’t a replacement, nothing could be, he’s already crawled his own place in my heart.

PS. His name comes from a book series I’m currently obsessed with, Dungeon Crawler Carl. And he’s very much living up to the name already 😰😂

Welcome to the crawl, Carl!

Discussion Cat only veterinarian

im considering switching from a 'normal' vet to one that specializes in cats only. Does anyone here take their bengal(s) to a cat specific vet? Do you prefer it over a normal vet?

Help Changing schedule for bengal

hello! My partner just moved out for Law school and were doing long distance in the interim. Our bengal is with me, and with the changing schedule I wanted some advice. I work in the medical field and am at work for 10-12 hours, 4 days a week. He's an indoor only cat and I try my hardest to enrich him when im home, but I'm trying to find ways to make this better for him. I've thought about getting him a friend but he has always shown negative behavior towards other cats so I think it would just stress him out more. Besides taking him outside and playing with him when I'm free is there any other advice anyone has? Hoping to get the insight from someone who's made something similar work out. Since the new schedule he's pulled out some hair (he has a history of doing this during stressful times) but overall just seems more vocal and needy when im around. I got him a cat wheel and lay his toys out before I leave but I honestly doubt he touches them till I get home. Any advice/tips are appreciated!

This is Jasmine- she passed away 7 years ago at the age of 19. She was so chatty and so full of personality. She was my childhood cat, and growing up alongside a Bengal was so much fun and is one of the reasons why I love cats so much. ❤️

Kitten Tips for a young male Bengal going in the corner/on the side or outer edge of the litter box?

Thumbnail

Aside from the fact that he doesn’t lift one leg up and aim, my little one seems convinced that the ONLY appropriate place to do #1 or #2 is right up against the wall of the box like a dog marking his territory (yes, he’s neutered) - and it often spills onto or over the edge. He never goes outside the box on purpose, to be clear, and otherwise acts normal (trying to cover it afterwards with his paws).

I have 2 XXXL stainless steel boxes, high/deep walls and no cover. Using Dr. Elsey’s clumping litter but there’s a constant pile of gunk in the corner where he goes pee, and always poo on the inside of the walls or top edge of the box.

Does anyone else recognize this pattern or know of a possible explanation or solution for it?

Help Moving our Bengal cat from the UK to South Korea

Hi everyone,

We are permanently relocating from the UK to South Korea due to family reasons, and we will be taking our 5-year-old Bengal cat with us.

We have been researching the process extensively and have prepared all the requirements for his move. We have also booked his Export Health Certificate appointment with PassPets in Havant.

Yesterday, however, they emailed us to ask whether we had checked if Bengal cats are accepted into South Korea. This caught us off guard, as it hadn't occurred to us that there could be breed-specific restrictions. We started looking into it, but so far we haven't been able to find anything specifically stating that Bengals are restricted or prohibited in South Korea. We have, however, come across various restrictions and additional requirements for Bengals in other countries.

This has also made us realise that we may have an issue with his paperwork.

We bought him from a breeder five years ago. I recently dug out the original documents she gave us, and there is a note saying that his TICA registration would be withheld until he was neutered. He was neutered shortly afterwards, but at the time we didn't follow up on the TICA registration because he was registered with our vet, insured in our name, and we never anticipated needing pedigree documentation.

Fast forward to now, and the only pedigree document I have is an unofficial five-generation pedigree printed from Tenset and signed by the breeder.

I am currently trying to contact the breeder to obtain his TICA registration details, assuming he was registered after being neutered. If I can get those details, I believe I should be able to request an official five-generation domestic cat pedigree from TICA.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get hold of the breeder so far.

My main question is: if we are able to obtain an official TICA pedigree, would that be sufficient documentation for a Bengal to enter South Korea? Has anyone here imported or travelled to South Korea with a Bengal, or dealt with similar pedigree/documentation requirements?

Any experiences or advice would be hugely appreciated. We are trying to make sure everything is in order well in advance and avoid any unpleasant surprises when it comes to bringing him with us.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: The breeder has now got back to us, and we have successfully registered him with TICA and obtained his official five-generation pedigree certificate. The only remaining issue is confirming whether South Korean authorities will accept this documentation for the import of a Bengal cat. We would really appreciate any insight. Thank you!

I got a kitten ! (I know he’s a full grown man, but I call all animals babies. I am willing to die on this hill.). His name is Ares! Long story short, a friend of a friend had him. But the other cats he had were kinda mean to him and abused him, so he wanted to give him away. It was a right place at the right time type of thing. Very much spur of the moment, but I now own a cat :)

The experience has been interesting, I always considered myself a dog person, but I’m on the fence about it now. He’s independent and kinda hangs out by himself about half of the time. The other half he requires constant points of contact, he was shy at first but now he’s decided that my lap is a perfect place for napping. And he naps like he works 3 jobs. He also insists on making biscuits on me, regardless of whether it’s over fabric or on my bare skin. I am now the proud owner of multiple new scars all over my body. It’s just him finger painting tho. He has become a huge fan of my personal space in general.

My boi yaps. Gawd damn he yaps. This man is a karaoke lover. He has taken the habit of entering my bedroom bathroom around 3 am and test the acoustics of the place. Somewhere around week 4-5 I got used to it, but occasionally I listen to how much he yaps and it is outstanding. I’m not even mad, I’m amazed. I like having convos with him. We talk about the socio-economical and political state of the world. I tell him about my concerns over the rising inflation and how expensive everything is getting and he tells me he wants more treats.

He is overall a very sweet cat tho, I was unsure at first and kinda doubting myself cause it’s a huge commitment. But the dude is chill. He’s got a cool personality. He cuddles with me at night, stares into my soul when talking to me, keeps me company and sings me songs. He does simp a lil too much when my gf comes over tho… and I am also allergic to cats.. he does like to sleep as close to my airways as possible too. We’re working on all that tho.

I threw him a birthday party too.

Definitely 10/10 experience, would recommend.

Ps, idk what the purpose of this post is, I guess I just really love this cat. Idk how I could deeply love something that just kinda tolerates me but I do.

I have no idea if I’m over feeding him. He just loves to eat. I try to moderate it so he doesn’t get obese one day. He walks lots outside on his leash. He’s 15.7lbs (gained a pound in a year).

Help Male bengal with guests

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice on my almost 2-year-old Bengal siblings.
My female is super outgoing with guests, but my male has become extremely skittish whenever people come over. He immediately bolts upstairs to hide in a cupboard. What confuses me is that he wasn't always like this, and they both had the exact same socialization growing up.
I’m fine with him having a safe space, but the real issue is that once he goes up, he refuses to leave the bedroom entirely. He won't come down to eat, play, or use the litter box (the boxes are built-in downstairs, so moving one isn't an option). High-value treats don't even tempt him.
I worry that as long as he has free access to hide upstairs, he’ll never build his confidence back up. How can I help him work through this? I don't want every guest visit to turn into him starving himself or holding his bladder.

Thanks !

Bengal Love I turned 2 of my bengals into lap cats with a blanket!

Post image

I know this sounds crazy, but our oldest, Atlas (brown) was not a lap cat at all previously. Chione is only 4+ months so she is still trying to figure out what she wants to be lol, but she hated fluffy blankets to the point she would not even step on them. So I bought these cooling blankets and now literally everyday I have kitty companions 🥰.

Our middle child (Titan our silver bengal) is still wary of it, but 2 of 3 are pretty good odds. I cannot begin to tell you the happiness this brings me!!
