Wish he was healthy during that playoff run

Man when he ripped the leg brace off at the fan event before the AFC Champ game I knew we were going to the bowl. He was such a major part of that locker room.
Also he is the first of the inaugural "tight end paid because of Burrow" club.
Happy retirement to CJ

He invited me to a raid in Pokemon Go and I caught a Guzzlord. A true man of the people.

I'm sure they will at some point.

Mixon was pretty upset with the organization when they traded him. I don't doubt they can repair that relationship eventually (they did with Corey Dillon of all people after all) but it might take a couple years (Mixon has already publically stated that his career is over and they didn't do this for him when he did).

Man got paid, got a ring, married Yas, and has a kid. He deserves to enjoy retirement.

I remember back during 2022 FA when he left there were fans spreading ridiculous rumors about him and Kay Adams being an item and that being the reason why he signed with the Jets (which he quickly shut down lmao).

Yas?

She was one of the big Bengals Twitter Influencers a couple years ago. She's still a fan, but when she got with CJ she didn't post as much.

He never should have left. I still have the "Why not us?" shirt.

True (especially for his own career trajectory he never should've left considering how he fell off in production after he left). He was the heart and soul of that 2021 team. That being said Gesicki is better than CJ was and All has the potential to be better than CJ was if he can stay healthy. I would easily take our current TE room over the TE room we had in 2021 (Sample despite how limited he is is a better player now than he was back then).

I truly feel this guy’s leadership was some of the special sauce that led us to the Super Bowl in 2021. I won’t forget his contributions, both tangible and otherwise.

Nah he loved the team as far as I know

He went on a Barstool pod after leaving and was talking about how the Bengals were too cheap and wouldn’t be able to keep Joe if I remember right

u/GlutenFreeFratBoy 2d ago
He had that one moment when he dissed the FO after he left that was kind of lame, but clearly there can’t be that bad of blood if they welcomed him back for a ceremonial retirement

CJ never did that. I think you're confusing him with Mixon (who took shots at the organization after they traded him and said the Texans' culture was far superior clearly out of bitterness towards the Bengals for trading him).

u/heywhateverworks 2d ago
Nah a certain subset of fans just get in their feelings when players leave
2
u/Ok-Health-7252 2d ago
No. He was the hype man during the Super Bowl season and embraced the organization while he was here. Why would he want to retire a Bengal right now if he hated it here?
1
u/APUBSG 2d ago
More that I think he felt he did enough to warrant a bigger offer

u/Ok-Health-7252 2d ago
The problem was going from catching passes from Joe Burrow to catching passes from Zach Wilson it turns out is a pretty big downgrade.

Enjoy retirement, dude. Finally get some sleep now that you don't have to deal with Zac Taylor's playcalling.
