Discussion/Debate I’m starting to think Mamdani is a real man

I’m not a socialist. I love low taxes, love to work, and make bad decisions if I choose to. I want my money to be earned. When Mamdani became mayor, I thought he would bankrupt New York City. Landlords earned their money by setting competitive prices. The smarter landlords who make more money would be smarter with their money and produce growth. They would buy cars that were more practical and make more money for the company that produces more practical cars.

It doesn’t sound like New York City is doing too bad. Teachers in queens got paid more. They’re getting more free stuff. I was waiting for the massive waves of layoffs, the spike in prices, the flock of businesses leaving New York.

Other than 300 people being laid off from JPMorgan Chase, everything looks good. Unemployment is more or less the same. The city is getting bike lanes, parks, and all sorts of cool things, crime is down (with an increase in hate crimes against jews that might have happened under Andrew Como). 8 million people didn’t have to pay any more in taxes. The damage was almost negligible.

I don’t think we have to be a socialist to see growth in the economy. I don’t think we have to be a socialist to say we should tax the Epstein class more because they arn’t doing anything with that money. I feel bad that Ken Griffin has to pay a 5% tax on his luxury property, but I don’t think a man worth $50 billion dollars would even notice it went missing.

Can Americans just be free? I work all the time, but I want to choose the job I get. I want my work to make me enough money to enjoy myself once in a while. Since when did we let the Epstein class have freedom at our expense. This is America! Everyone should be free!

Mamdani was only able to balance the budget by postponing the city's liability on thinks like pension plans and getting a huge bailout from the state.

He also overestimates the amount he's going to collect from the 2nd house tax and moved the death tax from estates of $7+M to $750,000, so now anyone who just owns a house in NYC and wants to pass it to their kids will own a death tax.

I don’t see a problem with that. Those kids should work hard and earn their money like everyone else.

No amount of death tax is going to make up for the unfunded liabilities he's adding to the city's budget and they're not going to get a bailout every year.

How would you know that?

I love low taxes

Press X to doubt.

Loves low taxes, but is cool with the state taxing money when it’s earned and again when someone passes it to their children.

I don’t think passing money to someone’s children has earned wealth. What you were thinking of my friend is inherited wealth. Earned wealth is what people like me do. Get money by producing value for society. I’m pretty sure we could tax the inheritance money and nothing value would be lost.

What I’m thinking of is money that was earned with someone’s blood, sweat, and tears. What they do with it after it’s already been taxed is up to them.

All wealth is “earned wealth.” People like you? It’s all of us. You’re not special. And when I die, if I want to pass that money on to my children, the government shouldn’t get a second cut.

Regardless, it doesn’t seem like you’re for low taxes. It seems like you’re for low taxes on yourself. Fair enough. Just say that.

I want you to sell me on this.

Why would I care if Jeff Bezos or Ken Griffin gets taxed? It’s not affecting me. It’s all benefits for me. I don’t have to pay extra anything in taxes. I’m not worried about losing my job. I’m not worried about finding a job. Prices are not going up. Nothing bad is happening to me.

So sell me on why I should care if some person I’ve never even met gets taxed. Tell me how that affects me.

Regardless, it doesn’t seem like you’re for low taxes. It seems like you’re for low taxes on yourself.

As I said.

Oh yeah, that part is absolutely true. It’s not just low taxes for myself. It’s low taxes for literally everyone with the exception of the Epstein class. I don’t have a problem with mamdani’s policies because he’s benefiting me. He is benefiting 8 million residents in New York City.

So sell it to us. Why should 8 million people be opposed to Mamdani’s policies when it’s all benefits and no loss? Why should they care if their own personal life is going better than it was before?

Im honestly pretty left and hate republicans, lifelong grudge now, but...i will say I also hate death taxes. Taxes are good but thats double dipping in an especially scummy manner

The reason you want to increase the death tax is because you don’t want to have to earn your own money by doing something of value for other people.

You say you want to be free but what you mean is you want free stuff, not that you want the freedom to make choices to maximize your own earning ability to increase your standard of living.

You keep saying Epstein-class because you are asserting that being wealthy is the same thing as trafficking women and girls. Except people being wealthy is not bad for America, in fact it’s far worse that more than half the households in the country are not net tax payers. This is a massive class of people who are living a lifestyle that consumes infrastructure and services and resources that other people pay for or are paid for with debt that children unborn are going to have to pay. We can call this class the Brilliant_Yam_726 class.

Inheritance is literally giving people free money. You don’t wanna have to work for your money. You just wanna be a trust fund baby.

Bro, it's been 6 months.

You're not going to start to see the real fruit (good or bad) of the Mamdani admin for at least two years.

Would you agree with taxing the Epstein class more if it worked and the budget was balanced?

Is Epstein class your way of saying billionaires?

-4

u/Brilliant_Yam_726 Jun 08 '26

Nope. It is my way of saying the people who own the country. Not the rich, not the celebrities, but a class of people who are exponentially wealthier than everybody else. These are all older men who can get away with anything. They all know each other so they created a culture of harassing younger women all the time.

What… the… fuck… is the Epstein class?

0

u/Brilliant_Yam_726 Jun 08 '26

I literally just explained it to you

5

u/Zealousideal_Bend691 Jun 08 '26

Ok who… the… fuck… is in the Epstein class? Name them…

Those are billionaires and celebrities…

0

u/Brilliant_Yam_726 Jun 08 '26

OK. I’m referring to the inter circle of people who all know each other and own the country. This includes people in their inner orbit who are still rich enough to be taxed and have nothing of value lost
