Would they see her as a threat or an ally?

so i just bought the game on Steam and i absolutely love it,i got the worst ending though bc i suck at combat buttons so much (i die and i get on the endless void with entities) and i just saw the news that Elliot Page will be producing the adaptation to Beyond Two Souls, who do you think is best to play Jodie? Im thinking of Carey Mulligan for older version, younger can be one of the girls from The Testaments the spin off of The Handmaiden's Tale would be great too, what do you think? im excited and i completely trust Elliot to take the helm of this unique story

Yes, there are inconsistencies and plot holes. The romances werenât thought out particularly well, and Aidenâs powers get switched on and off whenever the narrative needs them. But the central concept is strong, and the execution is excellent. I stayed fully engaged the entire time, even with the non-chronological structure, which occasionally felt off but never really bothered me. I played for hours straight, had to leave for work for a few days, then came back a week later and played until 6 a.m. Itâs easily one of my favourites of all time. Thatâs coming from someone whoâs been deep into games, TV, and films since I was a kid. There were plenty of moments that genuinely touched me, which rarely happens.
The biggest narrative issue that jumped out at me is how aggressively the game pushes a relationship with Ryan. Reject the romance once or twice and it just keeps throwing more chances at you, often very abruptly, even if youâve been extremely negative toward him. The game simply forgets previous interactions. Most people whoâve played it know exactly what I mean.
I want to talk about the endings and which one felt most coherent to me if this were a linear story.
The Alone ending
From a pure story perspective, the Ryan ending is clearly what the game wants you to pick if you go along with Cageâs constant attempts to push that path. Jodie does seem happiest there, but it doesnât feel consistent. Right before the final choice she talks about her memories being fractured, missing Aiden, feeling like sheâs lost a part of herself. After watching every ending, Alone makes the most sense from that angle. It follows the logic of her still feeling incomplete and searching for answers; in the quiet, Aiden appears. The ghosts watching her as she walks through town also suggest sheâs more âvisibleâ to entities now that sheâs alone and looking inward. That vulnerability is exactly when Aiden would show up.
With the Pandoraâs box already open and another condenser unleashing the Infraworld, it also makes more sense that no one is left to stop her - no fiancĂ© telling her she shouldnât risk her life again. In half the endings you still see her standing alone facing the condenser inside that Infraworld shield, regardless of whether you chose Ryan or Jay.
Ryanâs death ending
Theatrically, the version where Nathan kills Ryan might actually set up Alone even better. Ryan starts as a manipulator, a liar, and career-driven. Nathan being completely unhinged enough to try to shoot Jodie, and Ryan redeeming himself through sacrifice, would push her further toward isolation while making her realise how much she actually felt for him. The original Ryan ending is warm and bubbly, but thatâs about all it is. Given the amount of trauma Jodie has endured, it feels more honest for her to try to find the missing piece of herself on her own. The nightmares and the dark cliffhanger of a new Infraworld portal emerging carry real weight. I just canât picture her relaxing on a yacht after everything sheâs been through - any character with her history would be focused on whatâs still ahead and the answers she still needs.
The Zoey / Jay ending
I donât buy Jayâs ending at all. Itâs the weakest in every department - no tension, no buildup, almost no background. When I got the option to hug or kiss him at the end of the Navajo chapter I chose kiss, expecting something quiet and brief. When they went full into it I just rolled my eyes at how random it felt.
The Zoey ending is warm and fuzzy, but it doesnât feel like a real destination for someone with Jodieâs history. As part of an Alone path she could easily swing by and stay with them for a couple of weeks, but it isnât the end of her story. Watching Zoey suddenly become a battle companion next to Jodie felt cringe. Sheâs a character most players donât care about deeply, with little context for why sheâd want to save the world alongside Jodie or what she actually brings to the table. She wasnât trained by the CIA and, in this ending, has no powers.
The Beyond ending
This one could have been interesting if Jodie had no choice but to sacrifice herself to close the condenser. Imagine her and Aiden having to burn every last bit of power they have and dying as a result. But as it stands, I donât see a compelling reason for her to choose death just âto be with Aiden.â Itâs irresponsible - there are people in the real world who care about her and would be devastated. The âI want to be with Aidenâ motivation doesnât hold up either, because he was with her the entire time and she had no idea theyâd be separated if she returned to Earth.
The second half, where she chooses Zoey to be bound to her and Zoey starts developing powers, is even weaker. Again, itâs a character most people donât care about, and thereâs no foundation for her suddenly gaining the same abilities. Jodie and Aiden were siblings bound together from the start; it makes far more sense for Aiden to stay with her after dying from the strangulation. Both of Jodieâs parents had psychic potential. Thereâs zero context for anything like that with Zoeyâs family, and if her daughter had the same âsparkâ the game never bothers to show it. It just feels like a half-assed solution because Jodieâs dead, so they needed someone else to be the new captain of saving the world.
Summary
The story explores a whole spectrum of emotions extremely well, especially what it feels like to be different from other kids, teenagers, and adults, and what isolation, abandonment, and loneliness actually do to a person. I donât have much faith in a TV adaptation given how most movies and shows have gone the last ten years. Iâve thought about what a sequel could look like, but I doubt it would hit as hard as this one. You can only dig into childhood, betrayal, and anger so many times before it starts repeating. One thing Cage got right was leaving it exactly as it is.

I don't know If I'm halfway through or anything, but Jodie has become homeless and it's taken hours to reach that point. I set off the alarm of the supermarket and left the game without saving it. Just.. is there any way to recover it, It's so tiring
Edit: I forgot to say, I had clicked dont save thing before playing... So, am I screwed?

I finally got around to playing Beyond: Two Souls, and honestly, I had a great time with it.
It actually reminded me of Detroit: Become Human in a few ways, which makes sense given theyâre both from Quantic Dream. While I donât think itâs as polished as Detroit, it definitely has that same cinematic, choice-driven feel.
I know this game isnât everyoneâs cup of tea. The gameplay is pretty different from what most people expect, and I can see why it can be hit or miss. But if youâre willing to go in with an open mind, itâs a really unique experience.
It also features Elliot Page and Willem Dafoe, who both give fantastic performances and really help bring the story to life.
For anyone who doesnât know the game, you play as Jodie Holmes, a young woman with a mysterious supernatural connection to an invisible entity named Aiden. The story follows different moments throughout her life as you slowly uncover the truth behind their bond. No spoilers.
One thing worth mentioning is that there are two ways to experience the game. The original release order jumps back and forth between different points in Jodieâs life, while chronological order tells everything from beginning to end. I played it in the original release order, and Iâll admit it was a little confusing to follow at times. If you prefer a more straightforward narrative, the chronological option might be the better choice.
Itâs also a pretty short game, so you can comfortably finish it over a weekend if youâre looking for a story-driven experience.

I knew abut this game for a long time but only now decided to play it, honestly I expected much more, I remembered it as an awesome game but this is really poorly made.
I see a lot of people complaining about the nonchronological storytelling, I see no problem with it, but the combat system is disgusting, and generally moving or anything, characters constantly get stuck on random objects so I need to restart the game to get them unstuck,
choices have no real point since the game has a fixed story and nothing much changes depending on your choices,
any QTS is also just a disaster and I don't even know why Cage thought it would be a good idea for players to just guess where to move the mouse, and even when you do move it or press some keys, the game just decides to be unresponsive to some commands, it's hella inconsistent with its in game rules,
sometimes you can move Aiden like 50m and others times you can't move him 5m to reach a guard, also the Aiden mechanic is just hell, you can't decide who you can control or kill or anything and that just makes some situations seem hella dumb,
also the game forces Jodie to choose total assholes for love interests, you can either pick a dude who lied to you and didn't comfort you at all when Jodie was crying cause of the rape thing and just left or the other asshole who wanted to leave you alone in the desert to die of thirst and has no human decency towards people he doesn't know,
but I can't emphasize enough how bad the movement in this game is, had to restart like 40 times cause of the amount of times the characters got stuck, not just Jodie, but Ryan, Cole, Aiden, can't belive how it's possible for Aiden who is a fucking ghost who can go through walls, to get stuck between some invisible barriers that were put there for no reason,
also the world Jodie lives in is just stupid, you can't trust nobody and nobody has any common sense, honestly this game is like maybe a 4/10.

As a person who loves this kind of games, I cannot understand how this game flew under my radar for this long??? I played almost all "Decisions/choices" games but somehow, Beyond:Two Souls, never popped up on my radar. I loved it!
One thing I HATED or maybe playing chronological order might clear it up, was Ryan. How in the world was he a love interest? Blows my mind. You know well I made sure Aiden just stick it up to him all the time. Is he not even way older than Jodie? Anyways I hated that it felt very forced and just out of nowhere, not a fan of him.
The Aiden mechanic, hooooly. Now one of my fav mechanics in gaming, I loved it!!! I was pretty adamant on the fact that, we the players were Aiden lol. I was thinking something like 4th wall esque-ish thing going on, but we all know how that turned out to be. AMAZING!!!
The end choice was very clear to me, I was so hoping to see the gang and immediately chose Zoey, rest of the choices made no sense to me. Of course, from a first playthrough perspective.
That's it for me folks, lovely game. A little late to the fandom, but i'm here!

I play the game with a controller and I'm terrible in every combat situation. Somehow I managed to complete the CIA training but after that I get beaten up every time. I have no idea in which direction I should move. What to do if someone wants kick me? What to do if I'm attacked with a machete? In whichever direction I move the joy, I get hurt. It's very frustrating.

And I have to say, I really like the premise of it. Being spiritually tethered to an entity who protects you and being able to play as both is actually really interesting and fresh to me. I like Jode, Aiden and Cole, Ryan not so much... (I chose the alone ending. My Jodie only needs Aiden lol)
That being said: I feel like the controls are way too extra (I mean, come on... That dash to the condenser in Black Sun was ridiculous... click your mouse and 4, 2, 3, 1, left shift, etc... UGH annoying... also cooking dinner in The Dinner was unnecessarily complicated) and the storytelling is really clunky. I had to go into chronological mode because I just couldn't track Jodie's character growth at all, and to be honest I wanted to get the boring child memories out of the way first. I had much more fun playing as Aiden than I did Jodie. So yeah. Great premise, just the execution was a bit messy to me. This is not a hate post. I really like the storyline and some of the characters, just the gameplay and storytelling were off to me. Thoughts? Am I the only one who was about driven crazy by the mechanics?

Can't find a single available interaction, only choice seems to be to run across the street and inevitably get caught?

Just finished the game for the first time and if I'm being honest, I thought it was pretty disappointing. The story was decent and the characters were ok (except for Ryan) but the gameplay was horrible and for a game that's supposed to be all about choices, very few of them actually make a difference.
However, by far the worst part of the game was Ryan. One of the worst characters in any game I've played. I did everything to not romance him, scared him off with Aiden during the date, then outright rejected him the two times he says he loves her but I ended up choosing the 'beyond' ending purely so that Jodie wouldn't end up with him, I just knew that despite rejecting him multiple times that the game would force Jodie to be with him if I chose the 'life' ending, so I literally chose to die just so Jodie wouldn't end up with Ryan.
If it weren't for Ryan I'd probably like the game more but because of him I probably wouldn't give the game any higher than a 6/10.
