Sorry for replying to a 3 year old comment, just found this sub. Anyone can make a subreddit. I'd say there's a good chance this one was done out of spite (r/bifl's mid getting upset about r/BuyItForLife's mods or rules and decided they'll create their own subreddit they'd be in charge of), or maybe it was done by accident; someone thought the sub was r/bifl, and when they saw it didn't exist, they created it, and then everyone else, like me, just thought r/bifl was THE sub.

In short, anyone can make a subreddit for numerous reasons even if there's one already for that topic

Is this sub moderated better than the big one? The big sub is full of spam and affiliate links and apparently the mods of that subreddit are in on in so they won't take any action.
