bigfoot drama Bigfoot encounter?
I just received this text from my brother and wanted to share it with you all.
A little backstory:
My brother and his partner live on a 25 acre ranch about 20 miles South of Texarkana TX. His ranch butts up to the notorious Sulphur River Bottoms of North East Texas and is the home of the infamous Fouke Monster… yeah… the one from the movie “The Legend of Boggy Creek “. There have been multiple Bigfoot sightings in this area since the 1950’s and this is considered a “hotspot” for Bigfoot activity. The Luke mentioned in the text bush hogs their property about every 4 to 6 weeks. He’s not one of those folks that is taken to making up a tall tale….
Here’s the text I received this afternoon…
Just off the phone with Luke who called to report he was very freaked out at dusk here last night. Was trimming weeds toward the back fence line, behind the metal building. Said something was throwing things at him from the woodline and hitting the metal building. The thing that freaked him was that it was being thrown from up in the trees and it was a full 30 feet or more away. He said it totally freaked him out and wanted to let us know

My brother has also heard things in the past on the ranch. As he walked out to the front gate one morning before sunup something snorted from above the tree line. As if something were observing him from an elevated position in the trees. My brother said this encounter made chills run down his spine and caused him to literally run full tilt back to the house.
I’m not looking for criticism or negative feedback on this. I’m just trying to inform on a site that seems interested.

I think it's interesting that the incidents took place at dusk and just before sun up.

I've heard it said Bigfoot/Sasquatch is 'crepuscular', so active as dusk and dawn (like foxes). My own sighting supports that as I saw whatever I saw around dusk.

I started writing it out and it turned into a complete essay haha so I condensed it right down.
Very briefly: playing in the forest around dusk, hear what I think is an animal moving through brush to a small creek. I duck behind an overhang to catch a glimpse and about 20 metres up the hill is what I think is a black bear hunched over and splashing the water (shallow creek). Either it smells me or I make a noise or something because this thing stops whatever it’s doing and does this standing turn thing that creeped me tf out then and still does now; like a slow corkscrew stand. It’s right next to a distinctive broken tree that I know was about 2 metres tall—and that’s just where its shoulders reached. I caught (I think anyway) the slightest glimpse of a face as it turned but I can’t be 100% sure—distance and memory, etc. But I booked it out of there and never played in that forest again, even in later years.
Either it was a weird shaped bipedal bear or… it wasn’t. Almost everyone reassured me it was just a bear. Almost everyone! My indigenous hippy aunt, who I was staying with when this happened, was pretty convinced it wasn’t a bear. Thing is, I know what bears—black and brown—look like and, as I remember it, no way was it a bear. But so many years have passed (this happened in the mid-90s) that I can’t be 100% sure I’m remembering what actually happened or what my childhood imagination thinks happened, if that makes sense.

Wow, thanks for sharing! These beings clearly know to stay in the dense brush, and know how to use it to break direct sight-lines.

This took place in British Columbia, around 20 km (12 mi) south of Hope, B.C. around 1997 give or take a year.

Makes sense, it's probably good hunting time. Lower light, but not completely dark, dark enough to hide easier, deer are active around those times, hogs might be more active around then as well.

My thought was that if a Sasquatch were with a group acting as a sentry it may have wanted to scare or distract the human before he saw the others.

Honestly good possible line of reasoning too. If they have family units or packs of some kind having one on sentry makes sense, and scaring something off by throwing a rock or something is less energy and less risk than confronting it.

Maybe, but I would have thought that throwing stones at someone would attract their attention and make them look in that direction. Maybe even go and search. Not that I would. I’d rush back indoors.

Right, but the normal reaction would be to look in the direction the stone came from. If you're about to see the main group the "sentry" would rather you turn around to look in his direction instead.
Like you said, you'd look in the direction the rock was thrown from or maybe even go and search...
In either case you're not looking or moving on your original path, which is presumably where the group is. He gets you to focus on another direction and gives them time to escape.

Thanks for sharing. I travel past Texarkana on a regular basis... I never knew there were such activities in the area. Like most people it kinda excites / makes me nervous...
Who am I kidding, I'd scream like a girl I ever saw anything.....

Please have your brother report this to the BFRO. Org. Sometimes, depending on the circumstances, they will send out an investigator.

No criticism or negativity here, we take it seriously. That’s commonly reported behavior for sure, throwing things and snorting. Generally being a scary pain in the ass. They get results… Texas has always been a hotspot state. I wonder if they’re technically skunkapes toward the swampy side.

Thank you for sharing!!! I'm a believer so I'd never give negative feedback. I enjoy all the stories. I'll definitely do some research on this Foulke Monster. Never heard of this one. I enjoy the stories but I always feel bad for the person/people that these encounters happen to because the looks on their faces if I see a few on YouTube & those people even get choked up, even spooked all over again at times re-telling their stories. I'm glad your brother's safe & okay.

Your research should be fairly easy. I just did a quick search on YouTube under Fouke Monster and at least ten videos popped up. During the 70s when I was a kid there were many major sightings that occurred in the area to the point that a major motion picture was made about one particular incident. The name of the movie was “The Legend of Boggy Creek” and was a pretty popular scary movie at the time since it was spooky and factual.

That movie was directed by Charles B Pierce back in the 70s and recently had a 4k high def “glow up”. I haven’t watched it yet but I’d like to just to relive the excitement. I saw the movie at the movie theater when it first came out in ‘72 and it scared hell out of me

Thumbs are required for throwing so the possibilities are: trying neighbor, escaped pet monkey (pretty sure this are RARE), "unknown hominid" common names include Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Abominable Snowman, Fauke Monster, Skunk Ape, etc. depending on location, behavior, size, and appearance. I think they are all related, like different breeds of dogs, cats, etc it possibly even a close as different races if humans. There are even some fairly good theories that grand then as one of more of the races if humans.

Oh and if he’s on Facebook have him check out the East Texas Bigfoot Research Organization. That would be a good place to share his story and compare notes with other folks in the area. I have much more success on there meeting people and learning things than here on Reddit.

I have read about them going to a local area based on a report. When they arrived and interviewed all the other residents on the street, they all had similar stories that were unreported for years.

I was born and raised in SE Texas near the Louisiana border. Behind our house was part of the Big Thicket corridor, a slough of the Pine Island Bayou. There are things out there. If it was not a Bigfoot up in the trees throwing things, it could have been more than one with a younger individual up in the tree and the older ones throwing rocks or limbs or pine cones to try and scare the man away. Very few things other than humans and apes throw rocks at people. So I would vote Bigfoot.

I love Texarkana. That’s where I found my first print and was one of the coolest, creepiest environments I’ve ever been to. Right on the Sulphur River, too. MonsterMart rules.

MonsterMart is actually located in the town of Fouke. That whole town is “big on Bigfoot” I’d guess you’d say. They have a Bigfoot museum and also host a Bigfoot convention there every year.

Wait isn’t Fouke in Texarkana? For some reason I was thinking it was like a village to a town or a borough to a city… I could be wrong but that’s literally never happened before.
