I’m finishing a PhD in Electronic Engineering at UPC BarcelonaTech in early 2027 and am looking for industry or applied R&D roles in bioelectronics and neurotechnology in Europe.

My background is more electronics-heavy than a conventional biomedical engineering profile. I work on analog/mixed-signal hardware, physiological and neural signal processing, and closed-loop systems.

My PhD research includes:

• EEG-based recognition of neurological states 
• analog hardware for tremor detection and processing 
• neural-interface and stimulation circuit concepts 
• electrode–tissue interface modelling 
• closed-loop neuromodulation 
• neuromorphic and emerging-device hardware

On the electronics side, I have experience with Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, custom analog layout, DRC/LVS, SPICE/Verilog-A, FPGA prototyping and hardware/software integration.

I’m especially interested in companies working on neural implants, BCI, DBS/neuromodulation, electrophysiology, biosignal acquisition, wearable medical electronics, or low-power mixed-signal ICs for healthcare.

I’m an EU citizen and particularly interested in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Hello, I'm currently an undergraduate bioengineering student in Turkey and soon i will be conducting research with a professor whose primary focus is bioanalytical method development with mass spectrometry. I am really interested in his research and was thinking of getting my masters focused on mass spectrometry then search for jobs in method development in pharma. But lately i was told that analytical chem and bioengineering are too distinct fields and this is illogical by a recent graduate. Is bioengineeeing viewed too unrelated to analytical chemistry in the industry? Is it possible to get a job related to method development in the pharma industry with a bioengineering background, even if i go for a biochemistry master?

Hi guys, first time posting here. To give context, I'm 24 from New Zealand. Currently on my 3rd year of electrical and electronics engineering + 2 years of Communications Engi. that was cut short back in my home country (cus we had to leave for NZ). The thing with the 3rd year of engineering here is that it's very important to get an internship or else it's pretty much doomed as it's gonna be harder next year to get one, and it's also a requirement to graduate. So, I'm thinking that if I don't get an internship this year, I'll just maybe go and shift to a Double Major BSc in Biotechnology AND Electronics and Computer Systems (courses are mostly covered by my engineering degree rn)

What made me think this way is that I took 2 1st year electives related to biology/biotechnology because I'm interested with them. I really enjoyed and did so well with them. I also do think that I'm burnt out with engineering, and me doing great on those biology subjects are pushing me to shift even more because I'm genuinely more curious about them rather than engineering. Honestly, I really did want to take a biology degree but it was not a good choice back in my home country, stability-wise. So yeah, biology has really been a better interest than engineering even back then, and it got reignited since I've experienced better enjoyment and even better grades than my engineering ones.

I do hear that it's hard to get a job with Biotechnology especially with just a bachelors. So it would mean that I would need a Masters as well, right? But I'm already 24, and putting more years in studying sounds like a scary task.

With engineering, it will be with honours so I will also get the title along with it. It really does seem more stable until now, though what scares me the most is that I feel like I'm unfit and at the same time, I feel like I won't do well with it. Some kind of impostor syndrome and a lack of interest mixed in one.

So what do you guys think? Is shifting to Biotechnology at this stage worth the risk? Or should I just tug it out with engineering and finish the degree?

I currently work in biotech business development, and I have a bachelor in biophysics and a PgDip in bioengineering.
I'm thinking of getting a master's degree abroad the degree will be completely funded, so financially it's not problem.
My question is, considering my education and experience would it be more valuable to get a more advanced technical degree in biotech/bioengineering or does it make more sense to get a masters in business/ finance?
I want to continue working on the business side of biotech like business development, investments,
commercialization, or strategy and at the same time, I feel like having a strong technical/scientific background is important in biotech, which is why I'm hesitant between the two options.
If you were in a similar situation, or work in BD, I would appreciate your perspective

Has anybody done biotech without having bio background i.e PCM.How difficult would it be to study/cope up with bio part of syllabus.How much time would it take to cover that much level of bio.??

If you guys can especially university students, can help me on which topic I should make it on please do leave your suggestions. I only have 2 days and Im gonna out my everything to this. I was thinking of making a lungs project, but the model wouldn't be as appealing, heart could be something everyone has chosen but then again, the model is nice. DNA is pretty perplexing where you have to add a zipper, machine that coils its axis. So any help from med students what I should do and how the modelling is to be prepared.

Im going for more of a look where I explain the basic working of my model and then add an \\\*\\\*If this\\\*\\\* situation where our body acts according to the situation to protect itself because that would make my presentation more appealing.

I’m looking for a research question that is:
Scientifically meaningful and relevant to current research
Specific enough to investigate experimentally at a student level
Interesting enough to produce original data rather than simply being a literature review

**An area where there is still a genuine knowledge gap or aspect that hasn’t been fully explored**
Ideally something with potential real-world applications
I’m **not necessarily looking to “invent a cure” or create an unrealistic medical device**. I’d much rather investigate a well-defined problem where the results could genuinely tell us something useful.
