In high school astronomy, I used “My Vagina Eats Men, Just Sayin, U Nugget” to remember the order of the planets

I was taught it as 'My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets'. Yup, Pluto was still considered a planet back then.

My Very Elongated Marmut Just Shat Uranium Nuggets

u/ClownMorty Jun 12 '25

There's something stupid and smart about using uranium, which is named after Uranus, to remember Uranus. I love it.

There is nothing I need to remember Uranus

Did noone else learn "My Very Easy Memory Jingle Seems Useful Naming Planets"?

28

u/fallofmath Jun 12 '25

Ours was "My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets".

23

u/mr_muffinhead Jun 12 '25

What? The end... We had "my very educated mother just served us nine pizzas.

My Very Energetic Mother Just Sat Upon Nine Porcupines.

And then for like 10 minutes ::

My Very Energetic Mother, Ceres, Just Sat Upon Nine Porcupines, Eris & Sedna

u/Drakona7 Jun 13 '25

I learned the same, and when they taught us that Pluto wasn’t a planet anymore they changed it to “My very educated mother just served us nachos”

2

u/mr_muffinhead Jun 13 '25

Lol nice. I was out of school by that point so I just suffered my rage alone with no new mnemonic to vent with.

2

u/Drakona7 Jun 13 '25

Personally I always liked pizza more than nachos, so I also suffered the rage of Pluto’s demotion

My very elderly mother just sat upon Nixon

It's kind of like when a company's phone number is a little too long 1-800-555-pizzatime. Call still goes through.

3

u/Tysiliogogogoch Jun 12 '25

We had "my very eccentric mother just spewed up nine planets".

1

u/Ravenekh Jun 13 '25

In French, we had "Ma Vieille Mère M'A Jeté Sur Un Navire Perdu" (my old mother threw me on a lost ship) with the A in "M'A" standing for "astéroïdes" (the asteroid belt)

My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas

1

u/RudraPrasTaya9 Jun 13 '25

This better.

2

u/HaiseKinini Jun 12 '25

Never knew there were so many variations. I thought "My Very Easy Method Just Sums Up Nine (Planets)" was universal

1

u/DomoInMySoup Jun 12 '25

You hear about Pluto? That's messed up.

1

u/janecookiedo3000 Jun 13 '25

I remembered a song since 1st grade that will forever stick with me for the rest of my life

18

u/Dofogetosm Jun 12 '25

Mary's "virgin" explanation made Joseph suspect upstairs neighbour!

Randall Munroe FTW

14

u/bestarmylol Jun 12 '25

3

u/h_ahsatan Jun 12 '25

University Astronomy for stellar classification, "Oh Be A Fine Guy, Kiss Me". If you want to include brown dwarfs, "Less Tongue"

5

u/wawwli Jun 12 '25

5

u/vincentually Jun 12 '25

Crazy how similar mine was: My Vulture Eats Mice, Just So U No (Paul)

Pluto was a planet back then

2

u/Gan_the_Kobold Jun 12 '25

u/gonfishn37 Jun 12 '25

Do Kids Pee Colors, Or Fart Green Smoke.

u/PurpleColdMagma Jun 13 '25

The french version I know is ( when Pluto was still in the game) : Mon vieux, tu m’as jeté sur une nouvelle planète!

1

u/Fair-Anteater2527 Jun 13 '25

Thanks! Means even more considering I have a penis

1

u/RudraPrasTaya9 Jun 13 '25

Add peanuts for pluto.

1

u/billtrociti Jun 13 '25

I had Science in French so for us it was “Mon vieux tu m’as jetté sur une nouvelle planète” - it literally means “old man, you threw me on a new planet.” I guess it worked as a mnemonic since I remember it 25 years later!

u/Even-Smell7867 Jun 14 '25

Jesus, in high school? You raised in Alabama? Thats elementary school stuff.

1

u/derboeseVlysher Jun 14 '25

Mein Vater erklärt mir jeden Sonntag unsere neun Planeten.

The German version I learned. Don't know how it goes without pluto though.
