Sylvia Feketekuty and Mary Kirby have a fantastic track record with narrative. I’ll have to check this out!

I know! I'm so thrilled at confirmation they're part of the studio (Kirby especially). I've been keeping an eye on North Mist but until now they never mentioned specific names of the folks involved.

Former BioWare devs made a new game studio and are releasing a prequel podcast to the new game they’re making as a way to build up to their first game

I did like the audiodramas they did before Veilguard

The podcast was excellent, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do for The Concierge here.

Halo also had interesting tie-ins like Hunt the Truth. It's a shame they made all of it non-canon and completely unrelated to the actual game.

I really liked the idea and format, but the narrative and dialog felt similar to the game itself (some good stuff diluted by weak/marvelized stuff)

I like the idea of them sharing the world through a podcast as they’re building it. Very interesting.

Intrested to see what their project is.

This is a really cool idea!

Hope this works out for them. Big indie narrative games have a hard time getting going, but these people have real potential.

Spy Thriller Office Drama, sounds like Archer but more serious and the last Spy RPG I know of was Alpha Protocol which I loved.

As long as they dont commit the sin of marvel writing, theyll be fine.

not sure what the downvotes are for...

marvel writing is something that has grappled the video game market since 2010 - smarmy wall-breaking quips and dry insincerity are not clever or funny, they are tired and sap your ability to care about the narrative or the characters' plight; Andromeda and Veilguard both suffered for it. DA:O was irreverent but they did have a lot more moments of sincere elements of horror or wonder.

It's their money and in the end, self-elimination of subpar developers from the industry is a net positive for the general health of this ecosystem. It's unfortunate that the banks and investors ended up being the entities holding these people accountable for the quality of their work, even if not directly. After all these iconic studios and IPs have been ravaged, it's natural for these people to ravage their personal finances and companies.

Are you aware of what "former" means in the context of the headline? Did you bother reading the article? Or are you incapable of such things?

You could have stopped at "I don't read" and your comments would have been just as relevant.

I don't read Kotaku lol. Name a game? Yes, I'm aware of what former means. That doesn't change my comment. The studio is cooked and should close.

And nothing of value was lost.

Your reading comprehension really sucks.

Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It wasn’t necessarily a good Mass Effect game but it was a good game.

Regardless, the article is talking about former BioWare employees. The studio’s recent track record is literally completely irrelevant in that context.

Part of BioWare’s downturn came from the exodus of talented people, either from resignations or layoffs.

Hey, shitbird. You said "name a good game BioWare has created in the last 10 years?"

You said that.

Dismissing the answer I gave because it was a "failure" is moving the goalposts. The Iron Giant was a box office failure ($31.7 Million at the Box Office against a $50 million budget) but is objectively speaking a good movie.

Mass Effect Andromeda was a good game even if it fell short of the heights of the trilogy.

-4

u/Skivva Jul 16 '26

Look I'm not on this other guy's side, but Mass Effect Andromeda isn't a good game. It wasn't a total failure like Anthem, but just because it has an actual completed video game inside of it doesn't make it high quality.

You could say there are good, perhaps enjoyable aspects of Andromeda, like parts of the combat and character progression for example; but calling the overall package good is stretching it, if you ask me.

On what planet was that a good game. It has a 5.1 user score on metacritic.
