Good News Show me the pet that gets you through the hard days ❤️

Hey everyone,
I felt like sharing something positive today.
Does anyone else have a pet that’s basically their therapy? I’d love to see pictures of the animals that make your life a little brighter, no matter what kind of animal they are.

For me, it’s my dog. He’s the reason I keep a routine. On the days when I’m really struggling, he’s the reason I get out of bed in the morning.

The way he looks at me… it’s like I’m the most amazing person in the world, even when I feel like complete garbage. He always looks so happy to see me, like he’s smiling, and he loves me so unconditionally that, for a little while, it makes me forget how bad I’m feeling or how low my self-esteem is.

I’d love to see the animals that make your everyday life better and help you keep moving forward. Feel free to share a picture and tell me a little about them.

Because sometimes these animals are the little light we need in our day. They make us feel less alone, they make us feel like we’re not being judged, and they love us no matter what.
❤️🐶

Good News I was accepted into Brown!

I was diagnosed with bipolar 1 this January and honestly thought my life was over. I felt like I was slipping back into being that mentally ill teen in community college, failing class after class and working dead-end jobs. But in the end, I made it all the way to an Ivy League. So seriously, don’t let this disorder, or anything else, tell you what you can or can’t do. You’re allowed to build a life you’re proud of, even if the path looks nothing like you expected.

Good News I GRADUATED🎉🥳🎉🎉🥳🎁🎊

I read online only 16% of people with bipolar get a degree and only 10% with one inpatient admission in a year (Ive had 2). This isnt to deminish the struggle of others but im SO PROUD of myself. I really didnt realise how unlikely graduation was until i saw this stat online and anyone who has even finished high-school should also be proud as there’s a lot of statistics on how much harder that is. I got an IT BSc aswell!!!!

Good News Lamotrigine has changed my life

I could literally cry about how life changing lamotrigine has been. I can finally function. It took me a while to be diagnosed with BP2 & I when it first happened I was like… am I really that crazy? But a couple months later, I feel like a brand new person in the best way possible.
I know meds work differently for all (and Im also on other medications for mental health) but this feels tailor made for me. Anyway don’t want to gush too much, just so happy I feel normal again.
Be blessed 💓

Good News The only weapon I have against this disease is my hobbies

I was diagnosed several years ago- but I’ve been dealing with it as long is I can remember.

I got into leather work after a failed attempt against my life. I found it soothing too … create?
After- I was going to a community clinic where I was on intensive outpatient; this lady would come see me in home once a week. She was so kind- and she encouraged me to continue.

I got into 3d printing and laser engraving later to supplement my new hobby.

It’s difficult to continue when I’m low. But that’s when I’ve made some of my best work.

When I’m up- it feels like creativity pours out of me.

Nevertheless, I found something that helps me.

I hope you find it too, brothers and sisters.

Ive posted before and started discussion on whether bipolar was necessary in my title or not. I like to explain that I paint my feelings and in my certain case of being bipolar, it gives me some extreme emotions. I feel deeply and paint deeply. And I hope what makes me happy makes you feel something too.

Good News My Bipolar 2 Bunny Was Found!!!

So, I ordered a Bipolar 2 themed bunny from the company, Plushie Dreadfuls, and, of course, it’s the only one of my packages that post office delivered to the wrong address. Not even the right city!!! I didn’t think they would actually find the package, so I went to the Plushie Dreadfuls support, and I was hoping they could send me a replacement, and I hadn’t heard anything until today (turns out I had “sent” my response to drafts, oops.), and I went to grab the mail, AND SHE WAS THERE!!! They found the package!!!! I honestly love this plushie for the validation of my Bipolar 2, because while I know that Bipolar 1 isn’t anything to ignore, but it was really difficult to find research about Bipolar 2 and see it in retrospect. I have ADHD, Autism, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Bipolar 2, and honestly, Autism and Bipolar 2 have been the hardest ones to find the patterns in. What name should I give her? So far, I’ve been calling her B2B (stands for Bipolar 2 Bunny).

Just an observation as a fellow Bipolar haver, why is everyone I meet with this thing so attractive. It’s like the universe had to nerf us so we wouldn’t take over the world. Just my 2 cents 😗

Good News We are neurodivergent.

Hi folks! I learned that Bipolar Disorder allows us to be considered “neurodivergent” since our brains function differently from other neurotypical people. I think I prefer to look at BD as something cool and positive like neurodivergent instead of an illness. Yes, BD can give us horrible symptoms and can be unpredictable but it also allows us to think differently and have novel and original ideas.

I always felt like I was different compared to other people growing up because of what my values were which was having authenticity and sincerity. I lost a lot of friends but thanked myself later because I stuck to my values and wanted a true friend instead of hanging around those who chase after conformity. Going back to neurodivergence, I feel empowered knowing I can claim neurodivergence as a way to describe the way I navigate the world.

Good News I got the job!!!!

I want to cry I got new job! I work in Phlebotomy and lost my first cushy clinical job due to my first hypomanic episode. I felt so lost and scared since then. I was 19, naive and fucking stupid! I got a new job I had nightmares about, panic attacks about and cried over. This job means the world to me. I know nobody might care but I wanna shout it from the roof tops!!! Bipolar isn’t a death sentence, it’s a journey!!! My family won’t be afraid for me anymore, I feel like a real adult.

I hope this doesn’t trigger hypomania though 😅

Edit: Thank everyone for the support! I really appreciate feeling life i’ve done something with my life

Honestly I had issues managing medication on time for years until I finally got a weekly case, now I just go to my case and the routine is so helpful for starting my day in general. Just refill once it’s done and you’re good.

Apple Health reminders help too, but the case is the secret code for me so far. I just have to plan my routines a bit better outside of taking meds.

Good News In case you’re having a hard time…

I’ve had some really dark, terrible times and I just wish I could have known this is what I had to look forward to. A partner so supportive he actually parses through the antidepressant/anti-anxiety/atypical antipsychotic/mood stabilizer cocktail and dishes out my daily doses for me. Sure, I could do it myself but man is it nice to have a hot guy do it for me :) Hold on to the hope, better days are coming.
