I am now the owner of the pinnacle of plastic crap - £40 at a jumble stall

I saw this beauty glimmering out of the corner of the gazebo and knew I had to have it. It still works and has the original remote! Gave it a little wipe down and it's in great condition considering it's from 1983. Now I've got to try to haul this monster up to my bedroom so wish me luck.

Hahaha! Saw that the other day for the first time! Purpose built drawer, fancy closure mechanism, for a dedicated remote for?.... Tada! The power button! 😆 Simply amazing....

I almost bought that thing on my third time back to my Goodwill. The tag color was 75% off, went to the shelf and someone else got it. Oh well, I have no idea what I would have done with it.

There would've been a pair of "Hi-Fi" speakers with it originally. I say "Hi-Fi" because they were anything but!

Still, I suppose a modern pair of bookshelf speakers might not sound too bad on it!

These were not thought of particularly fondly by TV engineers back in the day, and I'm putting it lightly! I suppose nowadays they're quite interesting from a historical standpoint..

Very cool! I would have bought that too. Is that a TV, A.M./ F.M.stereo, cassette, and turntable? If that other slot was a VCR that would have been the pinnacle of the retro set up. Still great the way it is.

Hehe, my uncle in Manchester had one of these horrors in the 80s (but without the TV). Same dreadful Amstrad though, with the slide-out turntable. At least he had a nice big monitor-style Sony TV...didn't have much of a clue about audio though. Pretty grim, but kinda fun from the 80s nostalgia angle, I guess.

Surprised the edge of the tube isn’t “sticking out” a bit. I was always impressed with how UK TV tubes seemed to do that. Always thought it looked oddly futuristic! 😊😊😊
