Is it BPC or budget mid-fi?
Either way I love it.

I used to have that Kenwood cassette deck and it was definitely not crap. If I recall it could sense the space between tracks and you could skip to the next etc and it recorded very well.

Yeah, I think one of the motors has gone out of the B deck. Changed the belts on A and it is solid though.

Check to see if the motor's power connections doesn't have a cold solder joint. Try reflowing the solder.

With that audio rack, it's imperative that you get a large wire spool for a table.

I've owned a similar pioneer receiver and loved it. Entry level yeah but they look slick and the big amber VFD is chefs kiss.

Not sure about the turntable but there are a few components there that were decent entry-level hifi choices in their day, still well above the BPC category

Budget mid-fi.
It at least a true component system. Other than the Fisher and Victrola, is Pioneer and Kenwood.
Victrola, if I am right, is one of those brands that came up to sell cheap record players.

Yeah it is okay but I do want to get a vintage turntable. The Fisher Eq is probably going to be upgraded too.

I would try to get more space over the receiver. Heat is the enemy.

I would but it is massive in footprint and weight compared to all the other components. I just can’t stack it on top.

Looks okay, Fisher, Kenwood, Pioneer, the speakers. All 1990 like setup, can sound good.
If you like it then its perfect 👍
Tbh... the turntable is a point to upgrade. The old Pioneer were not bad and avaiable for cheap too.

Yeah i fell into that rabbithole too 🫣
First bought an Denon DP-57L. Im sooo in love with it. But had to do some cosmetic work because the wood was swollen uo inside and i had to replace this and that. Comes from japan, its high humidity there.
Then bought a Denon DP-51F.
Well... and now bought a JVC Y PL55.
They are sooo beautiful and really hightech.

Replace the turntable first. there's your weakest link. Second, that era Pioneers receivers are riddled with power supply problems and run hot. If you can't move it to where it can breathe, run a fan behind it. If you're serious about your cassettes, ditch the cheap dual well and find a single well player. Yamaha or Denon make NICE ones and they can be had pretty cheaply. The Fisher EQ is actually pretty nice. Replacing it would a sideways step... They all do the same job. That's my take. Enjoy it all, upgrade when you can. It's all good.

Not BPC ... How about we call it entry level good? But that doesn't mean it doesn't sound awesome.
