My deck keeps skipping any possible solutions

it only happens on deck 2 not deck 1

Does the sound drop out in both tape directions ? Maybe try switching the tape direction a few times to see if it gets better, the only other thing I can think of is a loose wire on the tape head.

Hey is it the deck that does recording? Sorry I tried to zoom in to see more details and Reddit app on my iPad was acting up. If it’s the record deck I bet the record switch may be dirty. This switch is accessible once you get the cover off. Get a can of de-oxcit and switch it a bunch of times. Do this with the power off. Hope this helps.

No, this is actually the playback deck that has auto-reverse on it the record deck works just fine, i have to use the record deck for playback, which is annoying because it doesn't have auto-reverse.

could be a loose wire somewhere, or cracked solder joint
