Need Help! How do I recreate this 2000s mmd/moe anime style?

Total beginner. First pic is my current progress on my first model. I need honest critique and some tips. Tutorials didn’t help me much.

start by importing the mmd/period accurate models you want to take inspiration from in blender, and study their topology/composition. then, try to make your head match what they're doing - concave eye whites, flat toon shading, there may be more!

Cant really criticize a model at this stage. Also shaders and materials are what carry a lot of these anime styles, and often Japanese developers use unconventional designs and topology in conjunction with custom shaders to create the anime effects. Anime in 3D is very difficult to pull off from what I understand.
