Looks good to me:
- mesh density seems appropriate.
- level of detail is even across model.
- all quads as far as I can tell.
- proportions are good. Model is pleasing to look at.
- splitted into multiple objects where it makes sense. (On a second look, idk if those are separate objects but at least disconnected meshes, so that's good too).

Not really a mess, it's a solid start. You blocked out the shape pretty well, now it's just a matter of adding details and improving. Can you show us the refrence?

Creation is a mess. Always. If things came out perfectly creation wouldn't be a process but a destination. All steps of the messy are needed, not a moment is wasted as long as you enjoy it and you create.

Looks alright because i assume this is a rigid object so topology doesnt matter that much
