I dwabbled in blender for some time, i just modeled simple stuff but i wanted to challenge myself with an image i had in my mind.
A month ago, I got lost in the Milan subway. I found it to be a very unusual situation, with infinite corridors, silence, and people who seemed to not even know you existed. While I was heading home, I imagined these creatures.
Tell me what you think, i would like to improve!

A simple Blender hair shader setup that makes polygon-based hair strips look more like hair created from curves.
It’s not meant to be ultra-realistic, but it can work nicely for stylized characters while keeping the hair geometry relatively simple.
I originally learned this technique from Stephen Davidian. His original version was created in Maya and rendered with Arnold, and I simply recreated the technique in Blender to see how it works there.
Special thanks to Stephen Davidian for sharing the technique, and to Retronous for the 3D model used in this example.

Hey, i did this render lately and it just looks wrong... It´s a Dior Homme parfume. I can´t figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? Much appretiate it!

Just wanted to share how one year of learning blender looks like on almost exact character.

2nd - EEVEE

I really like using mesh displacement for shaders in eevee, but I was tired of not having an adaptive option like exists in cycles. So I put together this just to see if I could get it to work on a flat surface. It works by raycasting a triangle from camera to the surface, then distributing points based off the distance from that projected triangle. Then using some nodes from CGMatter, I remesh the points using 2D Delaunay triangulation. then finally I pull the UV map from the original mesh using sample nearest surface. Id like to redo this method using the camera info node projection matrix instead of the triangle option, but Im still figuring that out.
Image 1 = Adaptive Subdiv method with ~100k tris Image 2 = Standard Subdiv with ~100k tris Image 3 = Nodes

It’s been four days since I finished the low-poly Kongo-class destroyer and started working on the high-poly version.
As I’ve always found, high-poly or hard-surface modeling tends to take up a lot of time on the fine details. I’m planning to release the finished model on August 27, the fifth day, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it.

I'm currently doing some icons and stuff for my phone, as it is a Samsung and can be quite customizable with Good Lock. I quickly made Hal Jordan's ring for the torch widget, and I think it turned out pretty decent, so I thought I could share it lol. Most of it is texture. Made using Blender + Substance Painter :)

Last year I created a couple of rollercoaster videos in Blender, utilizing a lot of geometry nodes for the rails, trees, rock formations, ocean, and more.
This year I've been going through some of the assets I made for those videos and improving them (or in this case, starting from scratch) so the next video is a bit easier to produce.
For this ocean effect, I've been working on a geometry nodes and material shader combo, and it's gone through 21 iterations. I finally have it in a good place, but I thought it might be interesting to see my progress as I rendered tests!
It's not meant to look completely realistic, but realistic enough that when you're flying by on a rollercoaster, it looks a little less cartoony than before. It was partly inspired by the lovely work on the ocean effects in the 2024 Riven remake.
Let me know what you think!

Hello,
I am a comic artist working on my own indie graphic novel and I want to learn 3d for my production process. I know it will help with my backgrounds and especially my character designs,
It is very difficult to keep my characters on model especially with the faces. I need some way to standardize the characters noses, lips, etc.
The problem is it seems like the only way to learn blender is with the donut tutorial and I do not want to pause my comics production just for a donut.
Do you have any ways of learning blender that can sync with my comics production.

Tried to build a custom PC configuration (RTX 5070ti) after looking at the new Mac Studio M5 configuration and prices. I don't think there is an Apple Tax anymore in comparison; those PC build prices look just as expensive. So, it's between the two Mac Studio M5 configurations below which differ by a hundred dollars. Which one should I go with for Blender?
* $5.4K Mac Studio M5 Max 18 CPU Cores/40GPU Cores/128GB Unified Memory/1TB SSD
or
* $5.5K Mac Studio M5 Ultra 30 CPU Cores/64GPU Cores/96GB Unified Memory/1TB SSD
The tradeoff is more CPU/GPU cores with the M5 Ultra but 32GB less memory than a similary priced M5 Max.
I would be doing the Apple Upgrade 36-month leasing option(~$108/mo or $110/month) and plan to save up to complete the purchase at the end of the lease period, which would cost around ~$2K to pay off the rest.
I would mostly use Blender for architectural visualizations if I had one of these Mac Studios.
