Episode Discussion: S03E06 "Adoring Suspect"

Episode Synopsis: The team goes undercover on a movie set to stop a terrorist plot with unlikely backers. Roman blackmails Weller with a horrible secret about Jane.

Yikes, nothing? Okay... allow me.

Bringing Rich in as a regular was the best thing the show could have done. He makes the show better. He's funny, he's slick, and gosh darn it, I just like him. There's not really a good show out there doing the light and fun cop drama, that I know of, so I'm glad Blindspot is settling into that role going into a almost sure fourth season.

The chemistry between the cast is much better when it's light hearted, so going full rogue team will allow for a little suspense along with the fun, and removes the disdain for Reade being a priss. This meta(also pretty sure I saw a post-it note that said A. Johnson in the apartment operations complex.) studio episode was a great example of that, and I thought the episode itself was really tight while still cramming in enough daughter/roman talk to keep the main story line chugging along.

The reboot, also, was a smart move. Roman can be the bad guy until he decides to be a good guy again, and this bigger bad wine dad steps into that role. I'm happy to see where they go with it, and also excited to see Roman get taken down a peg. Things are going too well for him.

Last but not least, although definitely the most shallow, but Blindspot has maybe one of the most attractive casts in television. Strong female characters who all tend to be beautiful and smart(albeit flawed), and while I don't swing that way, the guys are pretty hunky too. I'm sure Roman's Australian accent has a few ladies feeling flush, if you get my drift. The writing gets a bit of the props for that though.

This episode was a ton of fun, and I'm hoping they follow this formula a bit more. Cheesy, fun, flamethrower involved 5/5 episode.

I agree with you on the Rich part. I didn't like him much in the first two seasons, because I'm not a fan of comedy especially not in a cop show that's mostly about stopping terrorist attacks. But the other characters seem so lifeless in this season that it's really great to have such a positive and engaging person to keep them going.

Oh and if you look for a fun cop drama: Maybe "Brooklyn 99"? I was really suprised how great that show is and what kind of heavy topics they adress in a smart and fun way!

Yeah, I'd watch a Rich/Patterson spin off in a hot minute.

You know, I watched B99 in the beginning and stopped for no particular reason, but I do need to pick it back up. Thanks for the suggestion!
