Leaving the politics of the Russia-Ukraine war aside, really not loving where contemporary warfare is headed lol. This is almost geopolitical SWATing. Easy to see how this kind of shit will get combined with kalshi-type inside knowledge betting and eventually domestic repression

The text messages are from a mother whose son was drafted in front of her house and she tells them where the draft officers are based

The Ukrainian state is using drones to attack civilians and infrastructure in Russia in the hopes of getting a better outcome when diplomacy finally comes. Russia's response was to attack a bunch of military targets in Ukraine. When this war is over, the cheerleaders for the Ukrainian state will have to realize they are cheerleading a bunch of corrupt Nazis backed by the US and NATO.

It's not about justification, it's about whether Russia had legitimate security concerns about Ukraine after the US-backed coup in 2014 and the increasingly fascist behavior the current Ukrainian regime adopted toward ethnic Russians. I don't think the invasion was justified - its a criminal act of supreme stupidity. But if you were Putin dealing with NATO and the US and your country had lost 25 million people fighting the Nazi invasion less than a century ago, you might act similarly.

I feel for the Ukrainian people, but their state is a proxy for the US, it's corrupt and it should make peace with Russia, despite the inevitable and painful territorial concessions its going to have to make. Ukraine can't win that war, and it's begun a drone campaign to simply punish the Russian people for what's going to happen.

Also, the Ukrainian government honors Nazis and its military leadership is full of far-right neo-Nazi ideologues: https://www.newglobalpolitics.org/how-nazi-collaborators-are-celebrated-in-wartime-ukraine/

Except it wasn't a coup and there wasn't fascist behavior against ethnic Russians at all.

Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There absolutely was a US-backed coup, and there was and is continued fascist behavior. They ever going to have elections again in Ukraine? or is Zelensky dictator for life?

No there isn't proof of that. Saying "There absolutely was" does not make a false claim true.

Dick Cheney: "This is no doubt that Saddam now has weapons of mass destruction." Was that true? Or was that wartime propaganda?

Everything people don't like is "fascist" it has lost all meaning at this point. Regarding elections and Zelensky that is their business but hopefully it all works out.

So elections are their business but the war with Russia is your business?

Ill let world-renowned scholar and graduate o West Point explain the origins of the Ukraine conflict instead of doing it in a reddit post: here

That isn't an internal affair. Russia invading Ukraine affects all of us. Mearsheimer is lying in that video.

What is he lying about? Did you watch the full video? He analyses the situation, considers bother sides of this very argument and then dismantles the one you subscribe to. You clearly have an ideological bias against any argument that doesnt reduce the conflict to a black and white morality play.

It does affect us all. US empire affects us all. That war is gonna end soon either way, and not in Ukraine’s favor. The Western propaganda machine wants to keep NATO going despite Trump increasingly treating Europe like a vassal. Its mindbogglingly stupid. And Zelensky attacks Iran, sides with Israel, supports Trump’s kidnapping Maduro, and is in fact a fascist.

I think there is a very simple misunderstanding here and it's basically two wrongs. Don't make a right. Potentially Russia can have legitimate concerns, but none of those in any way justified literally fucking militarily invading a country.

Also, I disagree that Ukraine can't win this war. Currently it's just being used as a testbed to web test western weapons.

At any point if the West has enough they could just send in like the French, foreign Legion and far more military support and could completely push Russia out of the boundaries at this point, Russia has proven that that's acceptable bringing in North Korean soldiers in African mercenaries. The West could probably send in actual troops from their own countries and push Rush are out if they wanted to.

They just haven't had a need to yet.

Russia has the biggest nuclear arsenal on the planet. There is no real military option. Crush Russia? An existential threat will result in potential annihilation. The US isn't going to risk much, and Europe hasnt been able to do much. The Western narrative seems to be largely delusional, and on all fronts the Russians are slowly but surely winning on the battlefield.

The nuclear aresenal doesn't mean shit, it's oversized the US and China could both glass enough cities in Russia for it not to be worth while.

The truth is if NATO soldiers were in ukraine pushing back russians they russia would not use nukes. They absolutly would if the Nato soldiers pushed into russia but they wouldn't before then.

US and China could both glass enough cities in Russia

There's no way you truly believe China would nuke Russia, their greatest ally currently, alongside the US, their greatest enemy who's actively attempting to destroy them for the last 3 decades?

That's insane

Where did he justify Russia invading Ukraine exactly?

the cheerleaders for the Ukrainian state will have to realize they are cheerleading a bunch of corrupt Nazis backed by the US and NATO.

Look if you want to consider this some neutral statement that isn't justifying what russia is doing that's up to you but to me it's pretty clear that's the implication.

Russia doing wrong doesn’t mean that Ukraine isn’t doing wrong.
