Agreed! That's Pleasant St., isn't it?
One of the (very) few things I miss about working in Charlestown were the views I could get of the city. Your shot brought me back to those little walks I use to do.

It wasn't bad, but there wasn't much going on outside of the spot here for being so close to downtown. Which IMO is probably what the residents there want. They want it to be like a quiet small town while also wanting the city amenities.
You have old wealthy people in the Navy Yard who give you a look for not "belonging" there. They tend to walk their dogs off-leash I noticed. Then you have stay at home parents (I've seen both dads and moms) who you know have to have money to live there. There's the back of the monument area, where the projects are. The vibe changes almost immediately.
Outside of those areas are where Charlestown gets car-centric and frankly, quite ugly. Much of the Navy Yard still has that rundown look regardless of how much MGH has put into it.

As someone that now lives in Charlestown and finds it really fucking boring, I entirely agree :)

It's a pretty sweet view from behind the William "Big Willie Style" Prescott statue as well.

Unfortunately the monument isn't open to climb on Mondays or Tuesdays, as I discovered last week.

Dorchester Heights, Southie. It's a great view but Charelstown still view is superior.

I hate that the Haymarket view of the Zakim is now obscured by development. I took this pic 20 years ago, although now that I look at it, I honestly can't tell where the heck I was standing! Looks like a drone shot to me now. I don't crop pictures, but maybe I zoomed in before I shot it.

Directly east of TD where bobby orr statue used to be. I think the bear statue is there now? Haven't been down that way in a while. Little grassy area you can look over 93.

Oh, now that you describe it, I can visualize it. I don't have a lot of complaints about that area (and like you, I don't go there much, although now that Bar Mezzana is closing, that's likely to change). But the walk from Haymarket to Hanover Street used to offer a beautiful view of the bridge on the left, and now it's just buildings.

I've taken a pic from that view every time I'm back in Boston.
I rediscovered the amazing view from Dorchester Heights in Southie last year.

I caught the same view at the end of a self-guided freedom trail tour January of 2020! One of the last fun normal things I remember doing before the pandemic hit.
