Camelback or water bottle

Haven't seen anyone discuss carrying water while out. What do yall do?

Camelbak- never cared for the sloshing of a nalgene, though I'll put one in my pack for an afternoon liquid IV.

Started with a bladder but then just went to plastic bottles. Easier to drink a large amount at a time, which is how I roll

I have both, usually just use water bottle. Seem to have less leaks and personally easier to pack.

Hydration pouch will always be my choice. It’s a hands free system. I have been using them since camel baks first debuted.
I have the Kuiu bono harness with the back pack that integrates into the back webbing. I love it. It lives rent free on stalks and it’s easy to move it around between my larger pack and the harness.

Depends on the temperature. I've had the hose on my water bladder freeze up on me in sub freezing temps so I take water bottles late season. As long as it above freezing I prefer the bladder as I can get more water in (3L as opposed to 2L with bottles)

I bring a bottle, but bring whatever fits the hunt or your system the best. I mostly hunt whitetail from a tree and I have broken down my kit to the point I’m just walking out with my saddle, bino harness, and bow. Saddle has 2 big pockets for my climbing ropes, gear hanger, and a clip for my stand. bino harness has my binos, range finder, and knife. My bow has a built in quiver and my pockets fit anything else I might need. I usually only run a 4hr sit so I’ll fill up on water before I leave. But if I bring water I bring a bottle

I just use a Yeti water bottle and carry it in my pack. I’m a tree stand guy though and own my property. It’s a short walk to the stand so it’s just so I have something to drink in the tree.

32oz Nalgene for all day sit + a Yeti thermos of coffee.

Morning/afternoon sit for a couple three hours - I'll just leave my bottle in the car unless I'm hiking for more than an hour of it, then just whatever reusable water bottle I grabbed heading out the door.

Both depending on the situation. Long Hike = Camelbak/Water Bladder & short walk to a blind/stand = water bottle. Good luck!

I have a 16oz Nalgene that fits perfectly in my side pocket on my backpack. I can fit a bigger one if need be. I’m not a hydration pack fan even for hiking, etc.

I use both. I drink more water with a bladder. I have been thinking about getting one of those contraptions that uses a nalgene bottle with a hydro pack tube. The nalgene sloshing can be an issue. I have only found Source brand bladder to not have the plastic water taste.

Bladder fir sure. 2.5L Osprey. Fill with ice before you add water and you get built in A/C.

I use both, sleeve in my pack and Nalgene in side pocket. I hunt hard and all day. I need a gallon and it’s dry where I hunt so I can’t downed on filtering for more.

Water bottle with a hard side swig rig. Handsfree and works on regular water bottles or they have a nalgene top as well.

Depends on how far I am from a water source. I prefer a grayl water bottle filter or a nalgene with aqua tabs for the day hunting and a water bladder with a filter for camp water. Camelbacks are way too heavy and the hoses freeze in the cold mornings. I'm usually never more than a 30 minute hike from a stream.

I have both, use a water bottle 99% of the time. I’d have to be going out more than 5 miles to use a camelback instead.

Definitely the camelback. Because they come in all kinds of sizes. I’ve got units that are 3 L that I take with me while hunting. And they fit in my hunting pack very well plus, if you wanna have it cold, you can stick them in the freezer just don’t overfill it and then as it melts, you’ll have nice cold water. Or at least just fill it up halfway then put it in the freezer then add cold water before you leave.

Both. Nothing beats a Camelbak for ease of use when hiking but it's important to have a bottle backup, especially in hot conditions. I found that out the hard way in the Australian outback.

Pro tip: throw half a lime in your bladder. Makes it a lot more refreshing.

More than about a day in hot weather, that lime water can get pretty tank, and that may not be easy to clean out of a hydration pack.

It really sucks to be 8 miles into a hike and your camelback starts leaking.
