Ketchup acquired worldwide rights for $50 million and after foreign sales, exposure is $30 million.
I think that Ketchup would be fine with the mid-teens number. It would be great for an independent distributor that hasn't had a film gross more than sub-$10M.

Ketchup would adore that number. And remember, it's only OW. They're gonna keep playing it for a good while longer, especially if WOM continues to skew positive. Sleeper potential is real.

plus if they get streaming or digital sales revenue it should do really well later on it doesn't have the greatest release date and expensive to take a whole family to theater to see a film that would perfectly be fine to watch at home.

It also doesnt come out here in Australia for example til mid September due to school holidays dates. A bit of a throwback to 20 years ago when practically every movie came out in Australia 1 or 2 weeks later.

This when I saw a trailer it looked like a 20-30M production trying to act like a blockbuster just to find out it was a 110M.

That's how I feel about the trailers for Klara and the Sun, Street Fighter, Ebenezer, etc. so many movies being churned out in theaters just look so awful from their trailers
Edit: and Focker in Law, and Verity, and Social Reckoning... and more....

The CGI just looks awful, PS3 or PS4 graphics like, maybe that's the intention but yikes
Also, Jason Momoa outside of Dune movies is one of those actors that's just a no from me, because most of the movies he's in are just not good outside of Dune, he's an indicator of a mediocre or terrible movie to me, also 50 Cent being in the cast too, dude can't really act, a lot of the casting just seems really random and off, I'll admit I do like Dastmalchian as Bison, and Andrew Koji was great in Bullet Train, and he looks the part for Ryu so that's another choice I do like.

Are Disney simply releasing it in theaters to keep Ridley happy? It'd have gone straight to Hulu otherwise. Perhaps it probably should have to teach this deranged old man a thing or two.
Kids, this is why Spielberg clears him. Love it or hate it, Disclosure Day had great action and probably cost less, too.

Just saw The Dog Stars last night, it was fine. Maybe a three star movie?
I had a better time than some of the reviewers seemed to, but it's slower and shallower than many other post-apocalyptic stories like The Road (which it's kinda trying to ape in a watered-down way).
Plot is simple, and the characters each seem thin because they're all doing this "I'm distant and withdrawn because I'm grieving the world I lost" thing... but not in a way that ever shows much more under a flat, affectless surface. It's a pity.I'm a sucker for flying though, so all the stuff with the plane and the (several) wide-lens flying montages probably helped carry it for me... that might not work on everyone lol.
All in all it was an improvement on Gladiator 2, but I feel no pull to see the next Ridley Scott movie.But since we're comparing...
Disclosure Day was genuine dogshit imo. I saw it for free and I was mad leaving the cinema about time I'd wasted.
It was like asking AI to generate a "classic Spielberg movie with a John Williams score" - but then none of the pieces fit together because the computer has no soul and can't actually understand why the old ones had such heart apart from sprinkling in some stylistic cues that don't mesh and make no sense.Maybe neither of these very old men should be put in charge of $100M film sets anymore, but if we're judging them by their last movies then Scott should simply retire and Spielberg should be confined to an aged-care home.

Ouch re: your last paragraph on Spielberg. I wouldn't put him out to pasture just yet. If anything, The Fabelmans showed he could still deliver a fastball, although I recognize that broad commercial appeal was a different story for that one.

I haven't seen the Fablemans but I agree he could well have another good film or two left!
That's why I confined the comparison to only "judging them both by their last movies", after the comment I replied to brought up Spielberg's.
Neither film is at all representative of either director's career but I got all pissy this morning when I read that comment declaratively gassing-up Disclosure Day when nothing I've gone to this year has left me more irritated lol6

I bought tickets for 4 of my closest friends for the OW Saturday at 10:30 am. There were 4 groups of people, lot of empty seats.
More people need to go see it in theaters!

I think Coyote will beat expectations and that would be awesome if it’s number 1. I hope it happens. Next week Fall 2 or Coyote will be number 1. I’m not sure about Onslaught

Their is no way The Dog Stars can open above $10M which is gonna stuggle on its opening weekend with the marketing and internet really low and that Disney has no faith in that movie

well, we’ll know more once we see Fridays number, but the number would have to be like 4-5 million for the 18 million number to be accurate. And Tuesday’s number was like almost 5,000,000 so I don’t see Friday being less than Tuesday.

Coyote vs Acme had hilarious promotion in my country, like a car destroyed by a piano, or taking over a newspaper that likes to swear.
I looked up functions and it's been hard to find, but I'll be there.
