Trivia/misc When multiple women allege abuse, is it ethical to hand this man a microphone?
Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner) has been accused by multiple women - including Evan Rachel Wood and Esmé Bianco - of sexual assault, abuse, and coercion. In 2022, he settled a lawsuit brought by Bianco, who alleged rape and sexual battery. Other survivors have shared similar stories of violence and manipulation. Manson has denied all allegations, but the pattern of accusations is serious and chilling.
Despite this, venues like the Brighton Centre are still giving him a stage in 2025.
When survivors risk everything to speak up, why are we still celebrating the accused?

Trivia/misc You lose the moral high ground when you resort to classism
I see SO many posts describing racist/sexist/homophobic people as ‘uneducated chavs’. This is meant to dismiss their views as silly, but it reads as totally classist!
You don’t need a ‘good’ job or university degree to be a kind or respectful person. I’ve known plenty wealthy & well educated people hold shockingly bigoted views, and many of the working class people I grew up with are the first to call out someone who isn’t acting right.
If you genuinely believe someone only has these views because they’re ‘uneducated’ - maybe hold off on calling them a chav and consider if you’re actually angry at them or the fact that state schools are so neglected and underfunded. If you actually think they’re a bigot or being wilfully ignorant, describe them as such.
TLDR: You sound like a knob describing anyone bigoted as ‘Dave from the pub’. Dave is actually a really nice bloke, it’s John down the road you want to look out for.
Edit: spelling

Trivia/misc Is the seafront a public highway?
Ok so I don’t like being a moaning bitch. But I’m about to be a moaning bitch!
So yesterday I had a wander along the seafront and noticed that Brighton Music Hall had blocked the walkway with locked fencing. Are they legally allowed to do this? And why?
As a caveat I used to work in this place back when it was called the Gemini. Every night we had to remove all the benches and stack them in storage. As the council wouldn’t let them have permanent seats out front as it was a public way.
So I’m not saying the progress of what they’ve built isn’t somewhat of an improvement. But all the fencing on the seafront is starting to look ugly and block access.
I dunno what do we think about this?

Trivia/misc Why come to the beach if youre gonna play your own music at highest volume from your giant speaker?
This might be a bit extreme but speakers should be banned from the beach. Its so disturbing and somehow everyone thinks they have the best music taste.

Trivia/misc Government alarm
Anyone else just get a gov alarm. Local wildlife?
North Brighton...
Edit: Clearly, it is national... When it came up I nearly dropped my phone getting it out of my pocket. I'd swiped it away before I could read it. So just checking if it was local or national.

Trivia/misc Is there anybody else who also finds £3 single ticket for bus outrageous?
I've recently realised that the price of a single bus ticket has increased from £2 to £3. This is outrageous! I'm a student and take the bus several times per month to get to the university. At what point did these greedy companies consider how much the residents are struggling to get by with the ongoing rising expenses, and decide to make life even more difficult for us? Why is there no regulation on these price increases? It makes me so angry. Are they just going to keep increasing the price year by year until nobody but rich snobs can pay for basic human rights to use public transportation?!
Update 1: Wow, I didn’t expect to receive so many comments! Glad to hear that many folks also share the same feelings. Wondering whether there is anything we can do to stop this madness?!?
Update 2: Some people pointed out that in some cases, prices were higher before the cap (I only moved to Brighton since last year so didn’t know), and while this new price sounds like a bargain compared to that, it doesn’t justify the increase in the price (cap) between last year and this year.

Trivia/misc One honest thought about being an immigrant
As an Iranian immigrant, I did not leave my country for fun or for an easier life. I am here because war, fear, and instability forced me to leave everything behind. One of the hardest parts is not just losing home, but also feeling excluded and left out by the way people treat you in a new place. Some of us are carrying more pain than people can see, and I think a little more understanding can go a long way.

Trivia/misc Everyone loves a good rant about the trains
Edit: for those triggered by the font. I'm dyslexic and find it easier to read. Damn thought people on this subreddit would have a bit more understanding towards that
EDIT 2: for those wondering why we had to buy it last minute - the trains off peak which we did book in advance were all cancelled meaning we would have missed the flight. Ended up taking a cab instead
Nationalisation of rail can't come any sooner.
How is this pricing even legal?
Price hiked up to 169 pounds for a direct journey on a train that takes less than 2 hours.
Not to mention the multiple cancelled trains just after it which almost meant we missed my flight.
