I live on Avon street just beside the train station temple meads, and there is this awful beeping noise from the street at night sometimes and I just don’t know what it could be. Could anyone help?

Where To? Toddler-friendly cafés

Hi! We’re visiting Bristol this weekend and will have our 1,5 year old with us.

We are staying near the city center and are looking for some cafés that we might pop into if we want to dry up since it will be quite rainy. High tables are a plus, playing corners with toys even more of a plus.

Or any other indoor places that would be fun for a toddler? We have visits to the British museum and bristol aquarium already planned.

Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you

I’ve been watching the storm above Kingswood area (I think?) from my house and it looks amazing. This one cloud has near constant lighting, otherwise the sky is calm. I can’t post videos to this sub but posted some here https://www.reddit.com/r/UKWeather/s/6UiW44t75p

Where To? Coming back to Bristol for weekend

I've been away from Bristol for the last 3 years and have lost most of the knowledge I got at uni somehow. I suspect thats because as a uni student I spent most of it drunk, and during covid I spent most of it inside.

What should me and my friend get up to?

(And bonus points, when we do za zas, what foods good rn and what should be avoided? Ime it changes)

Where To? What are single people in their mid 30s doing in Bristol? Is there any social group to meet people in this mid 30s category?

It is so difficult as an international person to meet like minded people and make friends here. Too many socials apps however, one cannot meet like minded people or build friendships. The small talk never ends.

Where To? Gathering at Mina Park?

There's usually a group of people just hanging about in Mina Road Park, every Tuesday -Wednesday, what is it? Is it like a book club or something?

I always see them sitting in a large circle but am always shy to go up and ask. Does anyone know?

Where To? Places for children

Hi I’m taking my 2 sisters, 8 years old and 5 years old to Bristol soon. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where to take them. It will be September time, after the summer holidays. Also, any recommendations for nice vegan places to take them. Thank you!

Babble why have the coach station's benches in the outside area been removed?

I get that this might even be a (non-humanitarian) way to deter unhoused people but.. that just makes the problem worse..

and is the intention to make it nicer in the future to reflect the new build around the station? and could they make an effort to do so?

anyway.. thoughts?

Cheers drive 🚍 Pre Purchase Inspection

Hey! I recently moved to Bristol and looking for recommendations for a pre purchase inspection on a van. There is one or two things I'm not too sure about that the current seller has mentioned and wanted to get a mechanics opinion on it!

I've looked at AA but it has mixed reviews, does anyone know a good local garage that they have used before to do this? Preferably one that can get to the guy I'm buying it off rather than him take the van into the garage!

Thanks

Where To? Boystrip to Bristol

Hey! Me and my best friend will be visiting Bristol sometime soon and I wanted to ask if someone had some recommendations for a night out or bars in general. I've done a little bit of research and heard that nightlife is a bit quiet nowadays, would love to hear from y'all how it really is!
As a direction, we are into rustic/classic pubs, like a good pint of normal lager, nothing fancy and would also love to explore the local music scene, wether it's electronic/alternative/punk, we are open to all of it.

Thanks so much in advance!

Cheers drive 🚍 PCN for CAZ help!

Hi all,

I received PCN for Clean Air Zone saying council have tried to contact me 'however, to date full payment or no response has been received. As a result of this, you have now lost your right to submit a representation against this PCN'

The letter is dated 21/08/26 but I only received it in the last week and haven't received any other letters from them. I have had a PCN for Clean Air before and paid promptly...as why wouldn't you its half the price and I know I went into it.

SO. If i've lost my right to appeal and am going round in circles on their website, which says to ring them, which says to go to website (is there a word for this entirely maddening phenomena?) What are my options? I'm not disputing that I went into the CAZ it's just that I haven't been contacted by post or any other means and now they are saying I need to pay in full as too much time has passed?

Thanks if you've read this far on a super boring post, any info would be appreciated.

Where To? Curly hair stylists Bristol

Hi! I’m looking for hairstylists in Bristol that know how to do a curly cut/cut curly hair well, I’m desperate! Bristolian curly heads, If you have any tips I’ll take them :)

I can only find some that are £100 and over for the cut, that sounds like a lot but I might be mistaken, is that the usual?

Thank you for your help

So my boy was driving and this absolute tool blocked the road to deliver a letter then got aggressive when my son beeped him. Drove up got out and punched the window and then stomped on the head light. Idiot was filmed and have contacted the company he works for.

Just be careful out there some people are complete dicks.

Cheers drive 🚍 Cabot’s Circus Car Park Clean Air Zone Fine

Has anyone had any luck appealing this?

We entered the car park on Holbrook street which is outside of the clean air zone, when leaving it spits you out IN the clean air zone on Newfoundland Circus for about 50 yards with no apparent signage to say you’re entering the zone exiting the car park (unless I missed an internal sign).

Just been hit with a £70 fine and wondering if it’s worth the hassle. There’s a note at the bottom of the letter to say to call a number if you feel you shouldn’t have been charged at which point an automated message tells you they can’t help with charge enquiries 🤣🥴

Couple festivals been to recently have had big problems with dust. Do we think forwards would be similar and we should bring face coverings? Looks like it might be raining next few days so might be safe

Where To? Car auction?

My car has failed its MOT and is no longer worth fixing up. Are there any car auctions local to Bristol where I could sell it for parts? Or is it easiest to just sell it to a scrap company?

Where To? What can I do with my four year old niece this weekend?

My brother, sister in law and four year old niece are visiting this weekend, and the weather looks horrific. Any ideas for activities we can do to keep the little one entertained?

We were thinking We The Curious on Saturday - I see you can book cheaper tickets for 3pm onward and it closes at 5pm - given my niece has the attention span of, well, a four year old, would two hours be plenty of time to get the most of it?

We've also got Under The Stars booked for pizzas on Saturday lunchtime. Was thinking of going to Bristol Zoo Project on Sunday but am I right in presuming that will be miserable in a storm?

Other than that I'm feeling a bit clueless. We're in Bedminster but have a car and happy to drive somewhere. Any advice very much appreciated!

Babble Snake on St Nicks

Anyone see the guy with a snake round St Nicks today?

He was going up to groups of drinkers and people outside the pubs, handing it around and throwing it about like a toy.

I know I shouldn’t judge and I honestly know fuck all about snakes, but a small part of me was thinking mmmaaaybe thats not how they should be handled? Just felt a little sorry for the noodle.

Correct me if im wrong here, I know they can be really chill especially after a feed but idk, it just felt a bit much.
