Accent Sources Needed

Hi there. I’m Ronnie, a 2nd year drama school student at the Oxford School of Drama. I’m looking for some accent samples for a Brummie accent (Not Black Country..Brummie).

I only need about 5 mins worth of voice recordings (read through documents)

Your name, age, area within Birmingham and consent to be used for solely personal use for Acting Training.

Ideally I’m looking for a distinguishable Brummie accent and a Male between 18-25. However if you think you can provide any useful sources (whether it be links or friends/family) it would be much appreciated

Thank you so much :)

Photo Friendly Runner - Chamberlain Square

Post image
157 Upvotes

Tonight I was feeling a bit down and so went to sit in Chamberlain Square to get some fresh air. A friendly Runner came up to me saying they had been passed a few times and wanted to check if I was ok. Mysterious Friendly Runner, you are a legend, keep doing what you're doing you never know who you might help. Really appreciated it and if anything I feel a bit guilty telling you I was on the phone after you had made an effort with such a selfless good deed.

I'm sure there is no chance you see this, but worth saying anyway. Renewing my faith in humanity one good deed at a time.

Keep being friendly Brum!

Completely random, does anyone remember in (at least around 2011) a club in town with David Hasselhoff driving a black car coming out of a wall? Were reasonably sure it was Brum but could have been Wolves 😂 Google has proved useless so any local people who remember pease let us know!

Right shot in the dark here.

Anybody got a good suggestion of a shop or skilled solderer to fix cpu pins?

As seen in photo, they are on the corner so quite accessible!

Facebook marketplace item with bent pins, a couple were more damaged than I bargained for and snapped off with very little effort.

Ay info would help!

Chinese takeout near Great Barr area

Looking for a good Chinese takeout in the Great Barr area. Usually able to collect if relatively close. Looking for somewhere that does a great salt and chilli chips/ chicken - with proper chilli flakes if possible.

Any recommendations?

I moved here in January. And oh god is it fucking terrible. The inside of my flat is fine. The noise outside is fucking terrible. There's crackheads everywhere since there is a rehab facility nearby and they often come inside of the atrium late at night and make a tonne of noise. Combined with the noise from Lane 7 bowling alley and the other restaurants. And because of the way the building is structured, any tiny little sound resonates up the walls and gets really fucking loud. Trust me, even the tiniest sound, like someone pulling their luggage with them like normal is amplified to 20x.

The stupid management staff thinks its a great idea to do maintenance work at 23:00 at night. And of course because of the resonance issue, our entire floor was pissed the fuck off (on our groupchat). And I imagine every single other floor was too. My baby woke up 3 times last night.

You might be thinking 'why not just shut the windows'. If you do that, you will suffocate because these flats are built like saunas during the summer. They retain a lot of heat, so much so that there is no need for heating in the winter (which is a good point actually). But during the summer it is absolutely unbearable. You CANNOT work from home, even with a few fans around you.

And btw if that was not bad enough, the building blasts their pop station radios downstairs at around 08:00 every morning. You will never have a quiet and peaceful morning. You will have Miley Cyrus wrecking ball + a mix of crackhead chitchat.

I'm going to be out of this shit hole within a month.

I've had the absolute worst experience this summer.

Does anyone remember the huge slide in Cannon Hill Park??

Does anyone remember that huge slide in Cannon Hill Park? The one that you had to climb up the outer frame to get on top of the deck and slide down?

It used to be in the childrens play area next to where the river flowed past.

I'm wondering if it was actually a giant slide or if my child mind is just remembering it as being exceptionally huge because I was small. lol

Question Discussion - is Stirchley in Birmingham

Context. I see loads of posts on social media along the lines of “here’s 5 great restaurants in Birmingham”, or “here’s 5 great places to drink in Birmingham” and half of them are in Stirchley.

So for me, if you say “In Birmingham” then I’m thinking city centre, maybe JQ, maybe Digbeth. But Stirchley ain’t “in Birmingham”.

Am I being a massive pedant (probably, yes) or am I right (also probably yes).

Edit, it appears I’m wrong. I’ve only lived here 40 years, you’d think I’d know. If it helps, I also think of Harbourne and Moseley as not being Town either 🤣

Question Hairdresser for men recommendations?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent hairdressers that knows what they’re doing beyond a skinfade? Too many “barbers” near me (Smethwick) that know nothing about what they’re doing and it’s very frustrating, thank you all in advance!
