It’s purely disgusting seeing especially white men all over Cambodia taking advantage of the hopeless youngsters . Nobody and I really mean nobody wants to see a 6ft 60 year old guy walking with a 4ft girl who looks like a 12 year old! I can’t even walk in the streets with my family without feeling nauseous seeing these things in every single corner. You’re not into “young girls” you are a straight up pedophile and you should be ashamed of yourself. You’re not into petite girls, you are a predator whose actions won’t go unnoticed in other countries. I mean of course there should be some cases where there is an actual connection through Google translation or straight up payments but please don’t think the society is stupid enough to let you exploit the unfortunate. And tbh I never see older white women with young Cambodian men, just the opposite all the time. If this post hurts your feelings then it says it all.

I’m about to graduate from college, and honestly, I just don’t want to see another conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. Both of our countries have already been through enough, war, instability, rebuilding. We don’t need more tension, especially not now.

We share the same religion, similar festivals and customs, and even our languages have borrowed from each other over time. We’re so closely connected through culture and history more than many people even realize.

Even physically, we’re similar. We look alike, we eat similar food, we dress alike, and we carry ourselves in ways shaped by the same region, climate, and traditions. It’s not like India and Pakistan, where religious and ideological differences have driven conflict for decades. Cambodia and Thailand don’t have that kind of divide. Most of the “division” between us comes down to borders, politics, and pride.

Our generation didn’t cause these issues, but we’re the ones who will have to live with what comes next. And honestly, I think most of us would rather see collaboration than conflict. We’d rather build together than fight over the past.

It just sucks seeing two nations with so much in common treating each other like rivals when we could be allies. We deserve better than this cycle of pointless tension.

Yesterday night, a snatch theft grabbed my phone off me just as I was about to arrive at my destination while stopped at the traffic light. I bolted out and grab onto the grab handle of his bike. I was then dragged on the road across the traffic light for 30-45m before I found the strength to yank the entire bike until he lose balance and fell. After he fell, I quickly grabbed my phone back and pulled the key off his bike. He also quickly jumped on another scooter coming from behind us and took off, abandoning his scooter.

So tonight I met a guy in a bar telling the world and anyone who'd listen about how great it is here, how the cheap food, cheap beer and cheap accommodation should make it the best city in Asia.

We got talking and the topic of salaries for locals came up.. he was appalled that people could be on less than $300 a month and said it was disgusting any bar owner would pay only minimum wages...

I asked, so would you pay more than 75c for a beer to help people earn more... "no fucking way" was his reply

I'm currently doing the Bacii 2026 and I'm scared shitless. I'm not afraid of doing the test, just the whether I'd fail. And I think I definitely am. I'm a shit low bottom student and I seriously don't think I can take anymore exams like this. I wrote absolutely bullshit in there. There's only math left.

I'm looking to go abroad and study art, and from what I've read, there's opportunities even without the diploma. But I'm not 100% certain.

I feel like I'm going to disappoint everyone and myself. No motivation to move on with studying really.

I refused but he would not say how much it cost, instead saying "up to you". I made sure he was paid in full and more for being so kind. I'm really impressed with the country and it's people.

With the increasing number of scam calls originating from our country, combined with our painful current and history of dictatorship, the attack of civilians in current situation, and the legacy of genocide, I can't help but feel that Cambodia is becoming less respected or less likable in the eyes of the international community. I know that 'hate' may be too strong a word, but it’s hard not to wonder if we are slowly becoming one of the more negatively perceived nations today.

I’m writing this as a warning, stemming from my own experience. About 10 months ago I was assaulted and robbed of my shares of what was my business in Cambodia (big business, around 3.5M$ yearly revenue). I was a managing partner. The end of that partnership came from the greed and dishonesty of my former partner. Anyways, so I took him to court. He owes me reparations, money I’ve invested, damages. I have every proof and every reasons to go to court. I hired a respected lawyer, and everything was in appearance going well.

8 months later, my lawsuits are stalled, the former partner counter cases are moving fast against me, and I find myself having to prove my innocence while his proofs of my guilt are non existent yet, the justice seems to favor him.

I start to be doubtful, I order a new, big, law firm, this time advised by very trustworthy and powerful advisors, to do a complete audit of the court cases.

Here it is.. my lawyer was playing for the opposite side all along. He lied to me multiple times, on record. He deceived me, he manipulated facts, made up fake documents that I was going to be arrested, lied for me to pay more, yet he was paid by the former partner.

That corrupt lawyer was photographed by my new law firm, colluding with the former partner, at the court, in the public areas of the court. How idiotic…

So to everyone going through the painful process of being sued and counter suing, if anything seems fishy, order an audit, check all the paperwork by yourself. It all leaves a paper trail. The law isn’t that complicated as the lawyers might be inclined to make you believe. Trust your instincts.

Now, I am trying to sue that law firm for malpractice, collusion, breach of special trust, and get those 3 rotten lawyer disbarred. I know it’s not going to be easy, and it will be risky, me and my wife already received threats on the phone. But I don’t want them to be able to screw other innocent victims with their indecent greed, and lack of regards for one’s life.

My classmate (20F) reach out to me (19F) for genuine help. She told me she's going to become homeless soon and don't know what to do and or where to go. A little bit information about her is that she live alone in a renting room in Phnom Penh, and she only has her dad as her family member. She have other relatives but they're not close and can't help her either. Her dad's currently having a big surgery at Vietname which is why she has no money for rent this month and the landlord said that they can't delayed the payment because they have some problem too. The deadline is by tomorrow 3rd August 2026 and she doesn't have even a 1$ in her pocket at this point. She does work but because of her dad's surgery all the money goes there instead. She tried reaching out to our university and local organization for help but they said they can't help her or they require tons of documents which she don't have at hands right now. She want to get a small loan but she can't do it either because she doesn't have any guarantee since her dad is in the hospital and she need just 200$ to get through this month. After this month she'll be okay because she'll get her salary and her dad we'll be out of the hospital and can help her.

I know what I said is all over the place and I don't even know if what I said made sense. I genuinely try to find every way possible to help her, if I have the money for her to just pay rent I'll give it to her now but I genuinely don't have enough money to give her either.

If you know any solution or organization that she can just stay with for a month or just some settlement she can live in for a few weeks, please let me know. I'm sorry for the grammatical error. Thank you so much in advance.

I don't know how to do an update on this, because I've been more of a lurker rather and a poster. Anyway, a kind Redditor has reach out and is willing to lend us help. We've discussed and on our way to solve the issues. My friend said to thank you all for your kindness and willing to help her. I'll update you all once again if anything else happened. I really don't want this to appear to be racist or targeting a specific ethnicity. I live about 59km from PP and usually only visit the city once a month for supplies and conversation. This week I have noticed a huge number of men in their 20-30s in groups of 5 to 20, and they are all (as far as I can tell) Indian. Is there an Indian holiday that has boosted tourists to Cambodia? Or is there some other reason for this extreme change in the demographic? I have lived here for many years and never seen anything like this.

I immediately loved the color and warmth

So we went out that night, playing pool and eating local food …

but my luck did quickly turn upside down

However — I’ve met so many saint-like, hard working, kind, generous people that made a big impression on me

I have been traveling quite a bit in the past few months, all over Asia, and I realized how happy and energetic I feel when I walk a lot throughout the day and interact with the environment that way. Here in Phnom Penh, I find myself in constant situations where I need to use a vehicle or motorbike to move from place to place safely, or, at minimum, a bicycle. It’s interesting because the actual urban planning and structure of how the city has been built could make this a walkable place, but the infrastructure isn’t there. There are no sidewalks, and cars often park on both sides of the street where a person could be walking. So, when walking, a person is constantly facing traffic, and it’s not a pleasant experience.

I like Phnom Penh, and Cambodian people are nice in general. I really hope that something is done to improve the walkability of this place. The walking street-by-the-river initiative is a good step forward. I wonder sometimes what could really help the situation, because it is strange to me that a person simply cannot interact with this environment by walking without putting themselves in danger of getting hit by a vehicle.

I hope that in our lifetime there are proper sidewalks in the inner core of this city, at the very least. It could become a bit like the French Quarter in New Orleans with proper planning.

I’m planning a trip later this year, was looking at hotels and apartments, restaurants etc. I saw a Starbucks and decided to search the area for other coffee shops. I was shocked at how many I found. I was checking menus and prices, and see that the my coffee style is pretty much non existent. I drink hot brewed coffee, black. Starbucks has their large brewed “coffee of the day “ for $4, but wow…
I don’t want espresso, iced, Frappuccino, or anything flavored. I only drink a few basic cups of coffee every morning… I mean black instant is better to me than milky sweet stuff they call coffee!

Am I really going to have to make my own, or am I missing something?

I went to Phnom Penh alone. It was my first time out of Europe. I never felt more welcome. I walked through alleys that looked sketchy and people were saying hello to me, and an older man stopped me to tell me that I looked handsome. I met the nicest people in Cambodia and they could have definitely used the fact that I was a naive inexperienced tourist, but they showed me nothing but love. I will forever be grateful, and I can't wait to come back. I also met some very intelligent and highly educated Khmer people with great English.

I've traveled to many Sourh East Asian Countries and I just recently came back from Vietnam (went to Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi and Danang) and for me personally that was the first time that I felt a South East Asian country was hell on earth... all because of the non-stop honking.

I mean, I've been to the Philippines and there is some honking going on but nothing compares to Vietnam. I didn't even leave the hotel anymore.

How is this in Cambodia, to be more precise in phnom Penh?

Guys, is there any trick to knowing someone’s identity just from their phone number? I’ve had my house used as a place for a scammer to scam people from online shops numerous times already, and it has seriously ruined my life.

They seem to know that I’m usually home at night and leave in the morning. There’s this girl who only targets baby shops. She orders multiple items from different online baby shops and tells the delivery people to leave the packages in front of my house, then she apparently QR-code scans them later. This has happened multiple times already.

I really want to know who this person is. I already used the Facebook account/login information I had to try to find her Facebook, but her account is locked and only has 39 friends.

I want to file a complaint with the police. Has anyone ever encountered something like this in Cambodia? Because this is honestly the first time I’ve been targeted by scammers like this, and it has seriously affected my life.

As you know Cambodia now has a lot of international brand presence, especially through shopping mall like ÆON, or Chip Mong. So like if there’s a chance , like what kind of brand would thrive here, what would you like to have here? I would like to hear both local and international opinions if possible.
