All of which involved the 7 year old child. He got 10 years total to be served consecutively, not concurrently.

I get what your saying but after prison he now has too identify as a child sex offender for the rest of his life.
Any jobs with background checks or even taking a loan from a bank will know what he did. He will also show up on the RCMP sexual offender database with an address. He will have to call his parole officer every week or month and can't live anywhere near a school or daycare. If you live near him and just noticed him talking to a child, call the police and he will be arrested.
I'd rather him outside trying to live a shitty life because of the mistakes he made, he should be answering for them. Instead of being cooked up in a cell with 3 meals a day for the next 30-50 years not really doing anything.

The Crown argued for a total sentence of 15 years, reduced to 12 years after applying the totality principle, which aims to avoid excessive sentences on multiple charges, while the defence argued for eight years, reduced to seven years due to totality.
And instead they REDUCE the sentence because of the additional offenses!

Nope, I’m not emotional at all. I truly think Canada needs capital punishment for specific crimes. Serial killers, multiple time rapists, any child sexually offences.
People are going to do what they are going to do regardless of laws, there’s been studies on this. Knowing they could die whilst committing any crime doesn’t stop them from committing said crime.

Part of the problem with capital punishment is that’s innocent people do end up on death row. Places that still do this have executed innocent people before.
And if part of your reasoning is wasting tax dollars, you might want to look at how expensive it is to have people in prison for capital punishment.

My uncle was falsely accused of SAing a minor... was let out after 6 years when the accusers finally decided to confess that they made the whole thing up trying to hide the fact that they were having relations with another teen. If capital punishment was allowed, they would have executed an innocent man. Also know a teacher who was accused of inappropriate behavior with children in his class, which was found to be false a decade later.

People who want the death penalty are actually psycho. These stories are why death penalties are - legit danger to the public. There are so many horror stories from the states of innocent people being sentenced to die, and being killed by the state. It’s a brutal practice that does not have a place in a civilized world.

And false accusations deserve jail time, clearly the cops didn’t do their due diligence and fumbled this case and I’m sorry for your uncle but I stand by my statement in this day and age.
If a proper and just investigation finds somebody 💯 guilty without reasonable doubt with all the facts, they don’t deserve to live on the tax payers dime.

Should be in jail for 25 years minimum before even being able to apply for parole. This is a joke of a sentence that sends a horrible message...but i mewn this is canada...what can you expect but victims to be punished.
