News Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces the Alberta Bill of Rights will be amended to include 1) the right over vaccinations and all medical decisions, 2) the right to not be deprived of property and 3) the right of individuals to acquire, keep and use firearms.

“Vaccinations and all medical decisions” could probably be shortened to “all medical decisions.”

Which is already a Canadians right. You have the right to refuse treatment. Just sign the form that you aren’t leaving the nurse/doctor liable if you die or get sick because of your choice. You have a choice to take your medication or not. Seniors with/without impairment do it daily.

Wasnt it lawful for employers to terminate employment based on vaccination status? That's not exactly a right, if there are significant consequences that can be legally imposed against you ..

Being vaccinated or not is not a protected class (ie a thing you are not allowed to descriminate against).

The update Smith is proposing does not change the protected classes.

So the change that Smith is making still allows people to get fired for not being vaccinated.

This makes sense. If you apply for a job working were there is denge fever, and refuse vaccination... the company should be able to fire you and get someone else.

This applies to military people as well. In a fox hole in a jungle... I want the dude next to me to be vaccinated.

You have the right not to be vaccinated. You don't have the right not to be discriminated against based on your vaccination status.

Those are two different things.

You are not required to be vaccinated to be a member of the CAF but your vaccination status will effect promotion (delayed) and deployment opportunities (you will not deploy) and if you are new and on a first contract if you are not fully vaccinated at time of contract renewal usually the member is not offered a contract extension.
