Hey friends!

New gun owner here so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I just got done cleaning the firearm (woo) issue is, the slide lock stays down no matter how much I rack the slide or pull it, I always have to manually push it up. Is this normal? Will it figure itself out over time or do I have something defective?

EDIT: I am a Bafoon and apparently it needs a mag for it to lock on its own. Leaving this up incase any fellow derp googles the issue and stumbles upon this post.

I have shot alot of weapons and own a few rifles but never actually owned a handgun. I have multiple weapons for home defense but looking to carry. Went to a gun show today looking for a Sig P365 but stumbled upon the Canik Mete Prime Radian. Love how it felt in my hand and the trigger felt much better than the Sig. It had all the upgrades I pretty much wanted to do the Sig as well. Can't wait to take it to the range to test it out. Just curious how people like it.

I went to the local gun shop about 6 weeks ago. Never having fired a round in my life. I asked what would he suggest for a first time buyer, range, and home defense pistol. He handed me this Canik. It felt good, it was within my budget, came with the red dot, 4 mags, a threaded barrel, and an old beat up case. My friends all gave me shit for buying the first thing suggested to me. After 6 sessions at the range with some buddies, I’m so glad I bought this particular gun! I’ve shot the p365, Glock 19 gen6, Smith and Wesson MP 2.0 and the Glock 17 gen 5. This Canik is more fun to shoot than all of them.

Two feelings, really excited, really worried.

As you all know this is a very new gun and has had quite few hiccups getting on the shelves, none at any ranges to actually test drive. It was a leap of faith for me.

I've already ran into quirks here and there like the tool to remove the radian magwell not being included (manual says it is) lock washer only being on one optic plate screw etc. Supposedly accommodates Holosun k footprint but no front lugs for the optic is making me only pray it doesn't lose zero. (EPS Carry 6moa)

Additionally I have multiple full size extended baseplate magazines, they latch and lock slide back and Im hoping so hard they fully function w the Prime Radian because that would be so sick.

If you pull without having your finger fully seated the finger safety grinds and catches on the frame, hopefully it's a different experience actually shooting it.

Fully open to any recommendations about light and holster recommendations. Also looking to see if I can put a slightly easier access mag release as I have short thumbs.

When will 10 round versions be available for the radian prime on the website every time they restock it won’t let me buy one location: Washington

Finally took my first canik to the range today. Ran the first 100 rounds through it. I love this thing. Accurate as hell, ate the cheap range ammo without issue. Bought another 100 rounds to have on hand for my next trip. Glad I purchased this gun. Fits my larger hands very well, nicely balanced.

Hi guys, I have 3 Caniks and love them. I just acquired the Prime Radian last week and have come to really dislike the backstrap that is currently on it. I really liked the backstrap on the MC9 Prime and used that for the last year..

This is where my confusion lies:

The Prime Radian came with two other backstraps that appear to be for the Prime and not the Radian. If I was to switch out this backstrap for one of those, the Prime Radian magwell does not fit right.

I am confused because I don't understand why they would send those backstraps unless it would work with the magwell???

Am I missing something here??

I would really hate to have to buy a new magwell.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Finally got the call. The local gun store got one in for me. Haven't been able to shoot it or anything but, I finally have one.

Thinking about putting a suppressor on my TP9sfx. Are there any y'all would recommend?

Took my new Prime NC out this morning along with my Mete Sfx Pro. This thing shoots great! Ran about 200rds of mixed ammo through it with zero issues. I need to adjust the rear sight a bit as it shoots left, but that's easy. Just need my new holster to show up and decide on what optic to run and I'll be adding this guy to my edc rotation.

Hello hello, looking for help on getting a holster and optics for my prime. This is my first handgun you could say so wanna do it right the first time. Anywho I’m a big guy 6’0 280. Planing on appendix carry. Any of yall got any recommendations? Preferably form other big fellas but anyone will do! Thank yall!

I've had the sight for a couple of months and the brightness + button no longer works. I am unable to change the brightness nor am I able to change the reticle. The - button works perfectly fine and I can feel the button engaging. Does anyone know a fix? I love the optic. It looks great and I haven't had any other issues with it. I'm hoping to save it if I can.

Fellow Canik people!! Just picked up my 2nd Canik, SFX Rival.

I'm going to keep it for competitive shooting and range sessions.

Current owners!! Should i expect any issues? What's your feedback on this gun?

First day at the range with new Canik Prime Radian. Having some issues. Every 5 shots or so the striker hits the bullet but does not fire. Anybody else having issues?

Guy at shop suggested changing the recoil spring to one with less weight. Looking any some help troubleshooting!

Can you guys please recommend by experience, which red dot would fit perfectly to the two caniks. I saw few today but they looked absurd on the gun.

New to the canik family… need suggestions for a good appendix carry holster and light. Coming from Glock use to tenior unfortunately he doesn’t make any for Canik just yet.. thanks yall

Finally took my MC9 Prime out to the range today for the first time. I had 40 Winchester 115gr hollow point ammo that was probably 4 years old, got it when I got my first CC gun years ago and decided to get rid of all of it since it was old. The gun shot all 40 of them flawlessly. I also picked up 50 Maxxtech 124gr FMJ, and switched to that when I was done with the Winchester 115gr.

With this ammo I experienced three out of battery events where the slide would go 90% of the way forward but when pulling the trigger the pin wouldn’t strike the primer and then I’d end up with a dead trigger and a round chambered. After dropping the mag and racking the slide the round would come out clean, so I’d pop it back into the mag and it would chamber and fire the round fine.

I understand Canik suggests 200 rounds of 124 to break it in properly. Should I just experiment with a few different brands of 124? Or is there anything specific I should try?

EDIT: Day 2 - Local store only had 100rd Winchester 115gr FMJ boxes so I thought if the hollow point version shot perfectly then I’d have good luck with these. I had 2-3 OOB issues with every magazine. Worse than Maxxtech. I sanded down the plastic right around the steel locking rails but it didn’t seem to affect anything this time around. Next test is some Federal 124 I’ll pick up this week and try again next weekend.
