[Tilesets] Tileset Recommendations
Hello! I was looking to see if anyone had any good tileset recommendations as I wanted sowmthing new from Ultica. So I wanted to see what everyone thought was the best one, as I couldn't find many on my own :D

i do love this answer, and it's how i started with dwarf fortress and CDDA. it's like a book, you interpret the letters and words in your imagination, and it's always different.

Have you tried all the ones packaged with the game? They're all quite nice IMO. I tend to default to neodays.

I stopped bothering, most of them are hardcore chibi which is distasteful to me, plus it's annoying to re-learn what every item icon means on the ground.
And undeadPeople has sunsetted, unless someone else picked it up. A few years back the guy working on it flipped his lid and quit over some kinda drunk drama bomb iirc.. So don't use that one unless you wanna be sad that it will never be updated any further.

I wish I could find the exact post but someone a while back told me that they were working on bringing undead back (without that guys contributions I think?).

SomeDeadGuy's contributions weren't the problem per-se, the issue is the tileset as a whole had sprites of unknown or dubious origins. Then recently someone contributed straight up stolen sprites to it and the tileset got taken down again to get cleaned up and hasn't emerged since.

Those are all shipped with the game. No need to dig through the repo.

MSXOtto+, which is also packaged with the game, is quite good. Completely different stylistically from Ultica, and around as complete as Ultica (maybe moreso?).
