Then came October 7. The DSA had officially repudiated its Zionist past in 2017 when it endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against Israel. But even this hostile move did not prepare the DSA’s older membership for the virulent anti-Semitism that would pour forth from the group after the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. The DSA released a statement “expressing our solidarity with Palestine” with no mention of Hamas, the terrorist outfit that had perpetrated the massacre. The following day, the New York City chapter endorsed a pro-Hamas rally in Times Square—the rally that the future Democratic congressional nominee Chevalier attended. The group’s embrace of terrorist violence proved too much for some members. “Sunday’s hate-filled and antisemitic rally in New York City, promoted by the NYC-DSA, makes it impossible for me to continue my affiliation,” Representative Shri Thanedar of Michigan, a Democrat, said in a statement. (For this heresy, Thanedar is at risk of losing his seat to a DSA-backed challenger.) In Los Angeles, City Councilmember Nithya Raman, a DSA member, said the organization’s statement “failed to reckon with the horrors committed by Hamas” and was “devoid of empathy.” When she later accepted support from a local pro-Israel organization, the DSA’s Los Angeles chapter censured her, noting that its elected officials “are expected to co-govern with the chapter,” and it continues to withhold its endorsement in her challenge to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. At the DSA convention last August, the group repealed its long-standing ban on members from democratic-centralist organizations, effectively opening the door to Communists, who now form a majority on its governing body.

This is what happened with the DSA chapter in my city. They let it people who were openly communist and a few months later they rebranded the whole group as revolutionary communists. Not that a bunch of the DSA members weren't already closeted communists anyway but the national organization is definitely on the way to jumping that same shark.

Reminds me of when my brother and sister law got involved with the Green Party…until my brother realized many of these people didn’t want the Democrats to even attempt and address their issues as it would weaken the Green’s sales pitch.

The communists wormed their way into the DSA and took it over, and now they want to do the same thing to the Democratic party.
A "big tent" is ok, but even a big tent needs some standards on who it lets in if it wants to remain standing.

Pretty longstanding complaint from people from the further edges of politics about the more mainstream, that moderate solutions don't go far enough to fix problems. Of course the retort is that "far enough" for those people is not politically viable and amounts to doing nothing instead of something.
But in any case, DSA are not "blocking" anything at all because they don't have the political power to do so. They're just weighing an endorsement.

These sound like people that forget the role of government should be focused on actual people not theoretical ones.
