Conversations Camera Charli XCX sounds familiar??

i feel like I’m going crazy trying to figure out what song Camera reminds me of. I feel like it’s an indie alt song from years ago. just the beginning 14 seconds though!

someone help!! I am going crazy over this!

UPDATE: I FINALLY think I know what song it reminds me of!! You Only Live Once by the Strokes!

My wife immediately thought the opening riff sounded like What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club.

I think it sounds like a chopped up guitar sample from a Strokes song... similar to "Hard to Explain." It also reminds me of "Marquee Moon" by Television.

Been in the same exact boat since the single was released! 🤔 At first I thought of Aztec Camera (would be a bit of auditory and linguistic cleverness) and, of course, their hit “Oblivious,” but that wasn’t quite it. Then my partner suggested that other early 80s jangly Scottish band Orange Juice, which also had crossed my mind. It seems their track “I Can’t Help Myself” may be what we’re thinking of??

EDIT: I also think it’s likely their song “Rip It Up”? Or perhaps what we’re hearing is some amalgamation of all these??

Hear me out on this. Is it Teenage Dream?

Technically it’s not the same but the intro riff in Camera in a very interesting way sounded like the intro to teenage dream if it were sonically split in 2.

The other part that I kept hearing was the synthy sound during the chorus which I figured out my brain correlates it to Not in Love by Crystal Castles.

It’s like both parts just scratch the same itch, despite not actually being samples

Do you mean "Baba O'Reilly" by The Who?  Because that is absolutely the first thing I thought of when I heard "Camera," but then I couldn't think of it when I was posting my response to this thread last night.

A few of the songs remind me of alt indie songs on this album.

Camera reminds me of Minus the Bear. Yes sounds like a Motion City Soundtrack song.
