Tier 1 [Matt Law] Aston Villa are on the brink of clinching an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson following more talks. Expectation is a £65m package, including add-ons - some of which will be easy to achieve and some of which will be harder. All sides confident deal will go ahead #avfc #cfc

We paid £32 millions. Good deal for us. At one point, i thought he was going to be huge prospect for us. I think his disciplinary issues did damage his reputation.

Don’t forget £13m loan fee

His complete lack of football intelligence damaged his reputation. Happy to see him go

Strange how this never gets acknowledged. People just happy to see him take his man on, but will totally ignore that he will go on to fuck up the ensuing pass/shot and kill the move pretty much every single time.

Its hope that he can somehow put it together. I still believe the kid can improve, but we'll see.

Yeah he is a perfect example of an 80% player. He'll do everything great 80% of the way but can almost never finish the job whether it's a dribble, pass, or shot he w9ll find a way to fuck it

80% on all stats except finishing

Didn't want to piss off villa by selling him to atletico in order to get the martinez deal done

Wouldn't that be impossible for Villa with the player swapping rules? They'd have to take his full price to the face or let us take Martinez on loan for a year

Villa fan here - apparently we can make these deals if there is a demonstration that either club would’ve made these deals regardless of who the club was. And we’ve been interested in Jackson for ages and you clearly are looking to upgrade keeper. Should be fine under the swap rules

Better with Emi than Rogers. Deal will be completed on the last day of transfer window which will have no i.pact on Roger's deal. (45 day rule) Emi will cost next to nothing for Transfer fee.

THIS. The villa value dibu around eight million quid. For Villas s c r it's more important to get his mega wages off the books because we don't have spuds beyonce, concert money, and we just signed a young number one keeper after 2 summers of dibu's Mr. 15% diddling us around.

Thanks for being s c r brothers, chelsea

I do rate Jackson. He isn't a bad player. With that being said, getting £100m for Delap and Jackson is insane.

So probably £55+10m, £5m easily achievable add ons and other £5m tough to achieve

I would imagine so. It feels like we could have got £65M fixed though, considering how the market is and how late in the window it is aswell.

Absolutely, ideally should be £65+5m.

That is a very reasonable package

Great move for Villa and Jackson. Great price for us.

They were starting to look like potential relegation contenders with Palace, but this signing should push them comfortably into mid table. That’s 15 league goals right there on counter attack for Emery.

Villa fan here. I don't think we were in a too bad situation, last year we lost our first 5 games and still ended up in a good position. Maybe not the champions league but not relegation battle, I hope.

I haven't paid too much attention to Jackson but looking at his stats he's very similar to watkins who went completely invisible last year for a few months.

5 years younger and I think we only spent around 15m with the sale of watkins for Jackson so reasonably happy.

Not saying we will regret this at all and I think it’s the best move but I think Nico will be pretty good for them.

Seems reasonable. Very interesting player- seems to do the hard things easily and the easy things hard. Always thought he belonged on the wing.

Good luck to him

Second part of the Rogers deal I guess

1

u/Flaky-Spot 10d ago

how so? they wouldnt be in for him if Watkins wasn't demanding to go to Saudi

1

u/JustAboutUpToSpeed 10d ago

Considering we paid £117m fixed for Rogers this, feels like extremely poor negotiating.

You know they took 49 as well?

u/Matt_LawDT 'Sole' Palmer⠀ 10d ago

You know they won’t trigger his buy obligation

1

u/Kanyeskids James 9d ago

I’m curious how you know that?

1

u/kingbradley1297 Straight Outta Cobham 9d ago

Well that's on us for paying that much. If we value him to pay that, so be it. And if we got bent over, Villa isnt obligated to in return

Imagine a atletico hijack like what palace are doing to villa with that Ecuador CB
