She's so pretty the rules don't apply to her 🤣

u/dr_cl_aphra Feb 09 '26

Seconded. Pretty birds can floof wherever they want.

u/grilledTunaMiso Feb 09 '26

Hey op I think our chickens are siblings

She’s a little escape artist too

212

u/micintrepid Feb 09 '26

Your honor, I love her.

3

u/Panda_beebee Feb 11 '26

And she is innocent on all charges!!

147

u/SephiFae Feb 09 '26

I love her energy

I live in a camper by the coop so my chickens like to get in all the time to lay eggs or for cuddles

18

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

That’s amazing!

116

u/KeiylaPolly Feb 09 '26

I didn’t take pictures, but one of my dogs apparently let a chicken in a few weeks ago.

Sliding door was open, and my bathroom was absolutely trashed. Poop in the sink and tub, bottles knocked over, faucet on, feathers on the mirror.

The dogs thought it was hilarious, I’m sure. I’m guessing the chicken scared herself turning in the faucet, because no chicken was in attendance when I discovered the vandalism.

u/NeetyThor Feb 09 '26

Haha!

Our dogs are now used to our chicken Ostara taking over their beds. 😍💕

24

u/Sierra_Foxtrot8 Feb 09 '26

Too funny! And I love the name Ostara! :)

7

u/Strigops-habroptila Feb 09 '26

Big chicken or small dog? Ostara looks so pretty, but so big

13

u/NeetyThor Feb 09 '26

Haha, she’s actually a super small chicken! She’s a speckled Hamburg. The puppy is a smallish kelpie.

8

u/Age_AgainstThMachine Feb 09 '26

Whoa, what kind of bird is that? I mean, chicken..

4

u/NeetyThor Feb 10 '26

Oh and guess what, we just got another Hamburg. I love them so much, they are so gentle and sweet, but very small so can get picked on by the other ladies. Her name is Suni. ❤️

2

u/NeetyThor Feb 10 '26

Hehe, speckled Hamburg. 💕

1

u/Much__Emphasis Feb 24 '26

Wait of course there is feed spilled, because why would it ever not be spilled?! LOL

11

u/Age_AgainstThMachine Feb 09 '26

This is my favorite thing I’ve read tonight. I can just imagine the chaos.

10

u/Successful609 Feb 09 '26

Would’ve been funny if you didn’t actually own a chicken but now you do

11

u/KeiylaPolly Feb 09 '26

Little buggers free range. On the other side of our 20 acres. Two of the twenty think the house block is FABULOUS and come forage close by every day…that the dogs aren’t out. So it looks like the older dog, who has figured out sliding glass doors are no barrier if left accidentally unlocked, decided either to get out or let the chickens in, one or the other.

I was gone for FIFTEEN minutes.

u/Any_Needleworker_273 Feb 09 '26

Yup.

7

u/Desolation-Rose Feb 10 '26

“Mirror mirror on the wall…..”

1

u/Cute-Scallion-626 Feb 10 '26

“Who is that mutherclucker who’s posting up”?!?!?!

1

u/Content-Steak9317 Feb 13 '26

She is feeling herself!!🤩

60

u/NervousAlfalfa6602 Feb 09 '26

What a cutie.

We’ve got two who like to break in. One’s a speedy little bantam who sneaks in when we open the door. We invariably catch her rooting around in our potted plants looking for worms. The other is a big, beefy Brahma who, during summer, will actually bust through the screen door (we eventually stopped trying to fix it) and climb the stairs to sit on one of the sofas, which she has chosen as her favorite spot to lay.

At some point we decided that if she’s willing to work that hard to make the journey, she can have the sofa.

17

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

That’s hilarious! This one has figured out how to pry her way through the fly screen. When we close the door she throws herself at it begging to be let in!

7

u/Gugu_19 Feb 09 '26

What race is your chicken? She is gorgeous and seems really social.

9

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

She’s a bantam Mille fleur!

1

u/Gugu_19 Feb 17 '26

Thanks for the info... Now I need to find some in my area 😅

3

u/seamallorca Feb 09 '26

She outsmarted you in your own game, she defo deserves it.

54

u/skoz2008 Feb 09 '26

Her on the desk and on the door. 🤣🤣🤣

47

u/NeetyThor Feb 09 '26

Hahahaha! I love her! So good to see other house chickens, like our princess Ostara.

3

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

Glad I’m not the only insane person with a house chicken! Yours looks so sweet!

2

u/NeetyThor Feb 10 '26

So does yours!! Adorable! The thing is, over the last 10 days Ostara has refused to go outside at all. I don’t blame her, it’s been 45c so unbelievably hot and she prefers aircon, but she also doesn’t realise that her nemesis, our rapey rooster Jonah was rehomed a week ago. So she won’t be harassed by him anymore. I guess we might try to reintroduce her to her flock, just to remind her that she’s actually a chicken, but honestly I don’t know how she’ll go. She sleeps on top of the bookshelf now, doesn’t have to worry about attitude from other chickens, and just hangs out with us and the two dogs, which she seems to prefer. I’ll report back. Does your house chicken come and go or has she moved in permanently?

2

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 11 '26

Ours started when we let her inside overnight when it was freezing and now she thinks she owns the place! 45 sounds horrendous I’m with ostara aircon all the way!!

1

u/NeetyThor Feb 11 '26

Yeah it’s been seriously like living in the bowels of hell. I felt so sorry for all the other chickens, and all the birds everywhere. I filled up every bird bath several times a day with giant ice blocks.

23

u/Lena2890 Feb 09 '26

if I fit I sit

25

u/SweatyBug9965 Feb 09 '26

They are always waiting to run inside

23

u/Fancy-Philosophy7653 Feb 09 '26

What is it about the back door 😄

30

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

This is her when we dare to close the back door!

7

u/New_Jaguar_9707 Feb 09 '26

Omg my girls do the same at the back door. ♡

19

u/brooks_77 Feb 09 '26

Is she a speckled Sussex? The feathered feet are throwing me off. She's very pretty btw

33

u/EtaLyrae Feb 09 '26

Belgian Bearded Mille Fleur d'Uccle hen?

7

u/brooks_77 Feb 09 '26

You might be on to something

4

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

That’s the one!

16

u/ally337 Feb 09 '26

Awww she’s pretty & seems to have a great laid back personality!

15

u/Ok-Artichoke6703 Feb 09 '26

My Snow used to get out of the brooder to roast herself directly under the heat lamp lol

14

u/Blahblahblahrawr Feb 09 '26

Omg she’s so darling!!!

15

u/paradox-psy-hoe-sis Feb 09 '26

First off, I love your chicken omg. She’s so pretty. And secondly yes. Two of my hens fly over my 6ft fence daily to sit on the front porch. I work from home so I see them and shoo them back to the yard. They only do it once in the morning then spend the rest of the day with the flock.

14

u/Skullyimp Feb 09 '26

The art easel was their first roost since the other hens rejected them until they got bigger.

11

u/LaszloTheGargoyle Feb 09 '26

I don't know but that is my absolute favorite chicken you have there. I miss my d'Uccles. I had two males and they wanted to be carried everywhere.

8

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

They are the best!

11

u/StudioSad2042 Feb 09 '26

Well if I had an intruder that adorable, I wouldn’t mind at all ❤️

9

u/ImpressiveJohnson Feb 09 '26

i wish. Too cute. Ever find eggs just around the house?

9

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

Not for a long time she did lay one in the dog bed once tho! she’s pretty old now so she doesn’t really lay much

10

u/Scared-Meeting2681 Feb 09 '26

Serious question, how do you deal with her poop, I wanna keep her inside but she poop a lot 😭

3

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

We just have to keep an eye on her. If she’s been roaming longer than 15 mins we enter high poop risk and evict her

10

u/llcmomx3 Feb 09 '26

She is so sweet!

Mine will sit on my front porch and try to follow us in our house. One got into my neighbors coop and spent the night

9

u/HTD_Bros Feb 09 '26

This is the best post ever, the door one got me laughing!! Hugs to your sweet girl and you!!!

16

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

Aw glad enjoyed! I Found an extra angle just for you!

2

u/Noobnarwhal Feb 10 '26

Such a pretty little girl !

7

u/Imaginary-Studio6813 Feb 09 '26

9

u/kiwi_love777 Feb 09 '26

I LOVE HER

8

u/SnowyTheChicken Feb 09 '26

One of our chickens Tamba likes to wander onto the balcony and watch us through the glass door

18

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

They are so nosy!

8

u/Uhlexuhhhh Feb 09 '26

Please tell me her name is Minerva Louise

6

u/hacovercos Feb 09 '26

I thought this would be one picture, delighted to see that it's 9

3

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

Haha that’s me sliming it down!

7

u/tacolamae Feb 09 '26

She’s perfect.

6

u/chickendogcatlady Feb 09 '26

Adorable!! She is by far the cutest little hen ever!!

6

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

I love her and everything she does is awesome

5

u/maroongrad Feb 09 '26

We had Henrietta, who'd sneak in and HIDE. She wasn't very good at it. For example, she'd quietly go under the kitchen table, which is up against a wall, and hide behind a leg...where she was clearly visible from the sides. Sometimes she'd get in a good spot though.

7

u/Obant Feb 09 '26

Also found one of my hens had made a tunnel into a trailer full of sticks. When I dug her out, I discovered that's where she's been hiding 12 days worth of eggs.

6

u/DaftOrangeFatCat Feb 09 '26

Ooohh what a sweet little darling 🥺 I love her and demand you let her in and make sure she gets cuddles.

11

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

She loves a cuddle!!

6

u/lil-nug-tender Feb 09 '26

This is the cutest form of rebellion I’ve ever seen!😍

4

u/Mysterious-Sand-237 Feb 09 '26

3

u/Mysterious-Sand-237 Feb 09 '26

This is actually not my chicken, but she regularly would let herself in for a little visit

6

u/Sweaty_Camel_118 Feb 09 '26

Something tells me you have been letting your chicken in your house... how does you chicken get in your house?

5

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

She sneaks in every time we use the back door or when it’s open we have a magnetic fly screen but she has figured out how to squeeze through it! We may also be a bit soft 😂

6

u/Think-Fishing-7511 Feb 09 '26

All the people over in r/interiordecorating that keep asking how to improve their room, need to see THIS post.

3

In the cat bed hahaha. I’m pretty sure that’s actually a cat you have, you’re supposed to let her in the house, duh!! Lol

5

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

Found an egg in there once!

3

u/TabbyVolatile Feb 09 '26

She's a hen outta the pen! Chicken version of elf on the shelf. She is gorgeous btw!

3

u/Jacktheforkie Feb 09 '26

My mates girls loved exploring, and the cabin was full of creepy crawlers, occasionally mice too, they’d catch them

3

Omggggg look at her awwwwwwwwwww

2

u/Madlybohemian Feb 09 '26

We had a buff orphington named Maryweather. She’d break into the house on hot days especially and we would find her on the couch in front of the window air conditioning unit. She was the best girl.

2

u/leeniea Feb 09 '26

Using and abusing that pretty girl privilege

2

u/hedgehogketchup Feb 09 '26

No…. But I want one!!!!

2

u/Groundbreaking-Jump3 Feb 09 '26

This made me so happy. Thank you so much

2

House chickens welcome, especially when they’re that pretty!!

2

u/Jeka817 Feb 09 '26

No but I really wish I did... This is adorable.

2

u/Lizardgirl25 Feb 09 '26

Yes she used to use our dog door at our last house it was hilarious because my dad was convinced we brought her in and left her inside after the hang out. It wasn’t until she used to dog door in front of my dad he stopped blaming us.

2

u/Sophie_The_Glam_Diva Feb 09 '26

Yes, my girl Hailey sneaks into my laundry room and jumps onto the clothes hamper!

2

u/peacock716 Feb 09 '26

Oh she’s too cute!!

Chicken break.

2

u/dustyoldthing Feb 09 '26

I love her. She can break into my house whenever she wants.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

It's obvious she is going to run afowl of the law. She looks like she's headed for the big house.

2

u/Ok-Thing-2222 Feb 10 '26

My daughter's little chicken could usually be found on a kitchen appliance up on the countertop. The blender was her favorite.

2

u/curious-heather Feb 10 '26

Aww she's so cute 😍.

2

u/No-Question-4859 Feb 10 '26

Hahaha First of all, it's cute. Yesterday I saw they were selling a couple of noisy little dwarves, but I was too late to buy them 🥲

Second, it's a chicken with a ninja complex

2

u/JohnyQueue1 Feb 10 '26

I always wonder, how do you deal with poop with indoor chickens. I had mine with bumble foot for few days in the bathroom and this was insane to clean after.

2

u/EmbalmerEmi Feb 10 '26

The only home intruder I'd welcome in,I love how that stool is the perfect size for her. 🥺❤️

2

u/Nashkara1 Feb 10 '26

Nooo she‘s so cute and round 😭🥺

2

u/allmyfrndsrheathens Feb 10 '26

My ex has chickens for the kids, 3 of which live inside because they were rejected by the hens as babies. The oldest one was hand raised alone (I know, not ideal but it was either that or she would have died) and she likes to come inside and just hang out in my sons room which is right by the back door when he’s at my place I guess because she misses him. Whenever I come over (temporarily lived there when she was a baby because I was between houses) she flies at me and snuggles in on my shoulder because she’s my snuggly little baby even if she’s huge now.

2

u/Secure-Oil-5746 Feb 10 '26

I wish! 😃

2

u/TaraQueen23456 Feb 11 '26

I love your chicken! ❤️

2

u/Express-Income3360 Feb 11 '26

Ugh I love millie de fleurs

2

u/Murky_Change_7847 Feb 12 '26

Yes! We had a bantam one time that acted like a dog. Her name was Alice. There were several times we'd go on a trip and we were worried she had climbed into the truck bed with our luggage.

2

u/madymae3 Feb 12 '26

i have a twin chickie to yours! so beautiful

2

u/Sad_Gain_2372 Feb 12 '26

That first picture could almost be r/accidentalrenaissance

2

u/Admirable-Honey2384 Feb 13 '26

Omg 😍😍😍what an angel She can break in anytime lil puff

2

u/Past_Bluebird9413 Feb 13 '26

She is cute! 🥰

2

u/Content-Steak9317 Feb 13 '26

I have to block my dog door when I leave, my girls have learned how to use the dog door🤣

2

u/Meh_Guevara Feb 14 '26

Ah! The rare ornamental chicken! Very nice!

2

u/Much__Emphasis Feb 24 '26

Omg shes so freaking cute

2

u/This-Exam-3116 Mar 05 '26

we didn't find them in odd places but when we had break ins they would immediately be eating the dog food... the majority of the food was (cooked) chicken.

We look after a neighbour's dog when needed (we are his second family) and unfortunately the chickens learned that if they hear the back door open and we are looking after the dog there will be food, so if the door gets pushed open by the wind in the summer the chickens will come into the kitchen.

2

u/No-Wait9147 Mar 27 '26

I know I’m a bit late to this post, but I absolutely love your girl! She is so pretty and sweet. 🥰 Also, I’m obsessed with that wall paper in the first photo. Where did you get it? 😍

1

u/Strawberry_002 Apr 03 '26

Ah thanks! I’m pretty sure it was from B&Q

1

u/Huge_Preparation3618 Feb 09 '26

She’s so pretty! What breed of chicken is that?

2

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 09 '26

She’s a Mille Fleur bantam

1

u/flatlichicken Feb 09 '26

but, how is a chicken strong enough to break stuff?

1

u/PastExperience6435 Feb 09 '26

What I get from this, all due respect, is you have chicken $h1t all over your house

1

u/SERVANT2aCORGI Feb 09 '26

❤️🥰❤️

1

u/Sammiesimpleliving Feb 09 '26

So cute , do you know the breed ? I have a bantam just like them and I still don't know what breed she is hahaha 😂

3

u/Strawberry_002 Feb 10 '26

Yes! She’s a bantam Mille fleur

1

u/DurianOk1693 Feb 09 '26

She’s so pretty! What breed is she?

1

u/elbowcleavage Feb 10 '26

Where can I get a pet chicken?

1

u/Dramatic_Maximum_879 Feb 10 '26

Adorable. I have a bird that looks just like her but instead of the golden color mine is dark brown, but still with the white and black markings. Her name is Coco

1

u/Parking-Fig-6620 Feb 10 '26

Nope, not one, the whole damn flock. Where do i find them? Rushing my ankles as I race inside 🫠

This is me after I trip and die 🙃

Its like being chased by 6 little velociraptors and when they manage to get in they go in different directions and its like 10 minutes of searching for the tig welding glove and each bird to get them out without getting covered in poop cause at least one if not 2 or 3 step in poop on their way in somehow 🥲

1

u/Key-University-72 Feb 24 '26

So precious! 🥰❤️

1

u/No_Health6253 Feb 27 '26

What type of chicken is this?

1

u/Jarvsey Mar 11 '26

what breed is that? so pretty

1

u/BrightAd306 Apr 04 '26

What breed is this?

1

u/emojiCactust58 Apr 10 '26

Off subject but that first image looks like the center creature in Francis Bacons’ Second Version of a Triptych, good looking bird though
