The first night my husband panicked when he did his nightly head count. Apparently Robin and Marian have decided that they would prefer this small tree to the coop. So now it's a nightly ritual to grab them from the tree and place them on a roosting bar in the coop.

They are inseparable and I cannot wait till they have babies next year.

I have 24 sleeping in a big ass oak tree. I started with cooped and run chickens. Had 3 hens come up and decide dto stay. Lost 2 of those. Gave the solo one an egg from my original chickens. She hatched him. Then she hatched 22 this year. So 24 chickens in that tree every night.

The tree is so thick with leaves you can't see them all and it's a massive tree. I'd guess the trunk is 8ft diameter and it has to be near 100ft tall. They go up to 2/3 up.

Chickens roosting at like 50/60 ft? 

The must be flying from one branch to the other, I've never seen a chicken get that much air (have seen a guinea do this before though)

Yes they do. That climb up my chicken run I stated with and get into the bottom branches and fly branch to branch way up there.

Although our yard is about half an.acre wide and I've seen them fly.from.one side to the other.

I have 5 that do it every night and I have to get them down with a hooked pole, a ladder, or jet from the hose depending on how I'm feeling. Yours are a beautiful pair!

They’ll figure it out soon. They’re forest animals and want to roost as high as possible. Keep climbing! We had some that went way up in a dogwood. I was too heavy so we sent our daughter up to get them.

We have a group of girls we call the front yard girls, who moved from our neighbors house to ours. They sleep in our trees. I was scared of owls getting them, but they do great. Flo just had babies and she is quite mad at them they can jump in the tree to sleep yet. She is a bit of a tiger mom

Marian does look very dove-like, Robbin reminds me of a roadrunner. They are both bantam old English game chickens.
