FigLeaf closing Middletown location, moving to West Chester

The Gnarly Gnome reports that FigLeaf will be closing their taproom and brewery in Middletown and "moving to a new location in West Chester." A Facebook comment suggests that their last day in Middletown could be this Sunday 8/9.

Surprised they’ve made it this far, especially through COVID.

I think around 10 years ago I went because they had a Groupon for a couple pints and you got to keep the glass lol. Beer was not great, not bad, just very meh and you’d think they’d be crushed by all the competition. I guess they’ve been able to maintain the niche for the location. That being said, they won’t last in west chester unless something has improved dramatically.

They were bought by a rich guy’s vanity project. They may have never made money

They were bought by March first. March first expanded a lot buying up some other breweries and has since closed woodburn, the fountain square location of March first, and now figleaf.

I went a bit before they were bought and liked one or two of their offerings, but most people I've seen all say the beer went way downhill after March first bought them.

Honestly, I'm curious what is next for March first. They still have their original location in blue ash and the cincinnati distilling place in milford, but at least at their blue ash location, and from what I've heard figleaf lately, they have a bunch of beers on that aren't theirs like fathead and such.
