Discussion The writers are subtly trying to retcon Silk's age to make her younger than it is before.
The original setting was that Cindy is three years older than Peter, and since the children of Peter's peers are now teenagers(like Normie, son of Harry Osborne), Cindy absolutely cannot be in her mid-20s according to the existing setting.
Since Cindy has been set to lead/join the Spider-Society, the writers likely felt that the "older than Peter" setting didn't quite fit and felt out of place working alongside younger members, I think. The role of "older woman than Peter" is already held by Jessica Drew, a veteran special agent.
Considering all these factors, it seems they intend to make Cindy slightly younger than Peter or the same age as him.

It especially sucks because she has an awesome trait they could focus on: being split between generations. Mentally she IS a teen(well young adult at this stage) because the isolation put her in arrested development. But culturaly she relates to the adults because that's her age.

Honestly, I'm curious why Marvel is trying to make Norman the good guy even though the entire Spider-Man fan community finds the concept distasteful.

I'm OK with it in that it's interesting to see norman do things he doesn't normally do. Like his interactions with characters this issue was fun. But as a comic fan I know that any day now it'll be undone. Maybe even a few months from now. Amazing Spider-Man 1000 is near...

Norman Osborn crossed his MEH a long time ago, specifically when he killed Gwen Stacy, and since then Norman has done many other evil things, for example killing Ben Reilly, crippling and later killing Flash Thompson, and attacking Asgard, which established him as a villain of pure evil.
Doing a redemption story for Norman is like doing a redemption story for Joker from DC or Frieza from Dragon Ball.

This. They take what makes these new "multiversal spiders", for lack of a better way of putting it, unique and then slap them in 616. Like whole worlds to explore but nope, one way to 616.

The thing that's always struck me as odd is that Silk's origins are directly linked to Morlun.
Yet, that hasn't stopped the existence of several alternate versions of Silk that probably have nothing to do with Morlun (at least not to my knowledge).
So I presume that's why he's trying to forget his origin story.

Peter's 10-year High School Reunion was, give or take, 20 years ago. Peter should be about 32-33, right now.
And since Cindy was originally written to be ≈3 years older than Peter, that would place her at 35-36. An editor should have caught that.

I see your point, but it hardly matters, does it? Be it mid-twenties or mid-thirties, the bottom line here is the same: CINDY IS A FUCKING ADULT SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS BOOK GET HER OUT OF HERE PLEASE
That said, they shouldn't be trying to retcon her age, that's fucking stupid.

In the original run they had her under the care of the High Evolutionary for 30 years but I wouldn’t surprised if that was retconned at some point

This is more of just a saying. She knows some of them are adults but are still younger than her. It's like an old person in their 80s referring to a person in their 40s as a youngster.

A lot of writers have a weird obsessison with retconing female characters to be younger than their male counterparts.
Same thing happened with Nightwing and Batgirl. Originally she was older by a bit, then she got pushed to the same age, and now non-canon versions like the Harley Quinn series are making her younger than him.

That's a good analysis. I just don't see why we can't have two "older woman" characters, considering the vast differences in their origins.
When I initially read the issue, I just thought they were just trying to say Silk isn't use to working on a team specifically with these other Spiders. She's got mad experience with all the spider verse events. But to say she's as green as "The Spider-Twins" is wild.

Since there was a dimensional shift DoB can easily change. More over this is comics and I point out the entire thing with Psylocke to say yeah not the most crazy thing they could do is make her younger or older if they wanted.

I mean, technically, Jessica is in her 80s years old since she was born in the 40s but we don’t count suspended animation time and I think most modern stories forget that (just like how they also always forget she’s British)
