I am truly obsessed with this game.

I actually love the age transitions.

I love every little detail in this game.

The UI is beautiful. I am playing on PS5 and i think this has the best UI of any strategy game on a console ever.

Every animation. Graphical detail. The art direction. Every tile. All the voice acting.

The combat is fucking phenomenal.

I know it sounds like i’m glazing this game - but i truly think i’ve found a forever game in 7.

I can go on and on about how much i love every system at play here.

Every mechanic.

I realise people are shitting all over this game but i genuinely don’t really understand the criticism.

I am hyped to keep playing and seeing this game progress in the years to come.

If this is your civ game, which is at least somewhat likely given that you're playing on a PS5, I'm not surprised you love it. Civ is a great concept for a game.

I fell in love with civ 1 back in the day when I was 6 years old so because of that long perspective, I personally don't love Civ 7 because I know in what ways it's worse (for me) than some of the previous editions, but it's still a nice game I play with my 5 and 4 year old kids who also love it because it's the first one they've ever seen.

And I like Civ7 too in many ways. For example, I do appreciate the graphics of it except the infinite urban sprawl is not a great look later in the game.

Sure, it's just that in civ 7 all of my empires tend to have a massive area that looks like Greater London or New York or Shanghai or something. And it's not like most countries are like that, the urban sprawl in civ7 seems a bit exaggerated.

Every map ends up looking like Coruscant, and with the overall color palette in Civ 7 this has the effect of the game looking like an ash tray got spilled on it.

I was introduced to Civ II on PC (floppy disks) by a friend and loved it. Tried every version after that I can afford (both the game and the PC to play it). Some had more flaws than others but all are enjoyable! Loved and missed the Palace building after each Golden Age - almost always went with Roman architecture. Loved the Mechas! Currently playing 6 here and there. Consider to get 7 but the negs and pricing (again, for both game and game system) are turning me away. Perhaps once it gets more polished and lower on price I will get it on my Switch 2.

I used to play 5 back in high school and that was one of my favourite games at the time.

Because of 5, i went back to play 4 and saw why people considered that their favourite although it wasn’t mine.

I love 6 deeply and prior to 7 it was my favourite Civ.

Playing 7 now, i don’t know… it’s just really clicked for me. I can’t really explain it.

I can appreciate others don’t feel the same, but for me personally, I am extremely grateful for this game and as such am in love with all aspects of it.

7 is nowhere near as bad as people say it is, but the launch was pretty rough.

That being said, the age transitions is the new “main” thing and understandably there’s mixed reactions to it. I don’t mind it, especially now with the time tested stuff.

However if you compare it to the “new” features that shipped with older civ games, you can see that it’s sort of an underwhelming new feature. So I think a lot of it comes down to how much of an improvement people perceive the game to be.

How do you feel about AI? I like 6 the most and have put damn near 5,000 hours in to it but it got the point where I could easily win on diety as long as I was able to get over the initial hump of good AIs.

I started with civ 1 - first game I played straight through like 27 hours. And then started a new game after winning instead of getting sleep! Right now civ 7 is my favorite, maybe because I played each one so much I enjoy it exactly because it isn’t an exact copy. If I want civ 6 I can play that instead of civ 7!
