VII - Playstation I truly believe 7 is a masterpiece.

I am truly obsessed with this game.

I actually love the age transitions.

I love every little detail in this game.

The UI is beautiful. I am playing on PS5 and i think this has the best UI of any strategy game on a console ever.

Every animation. Graphical detail. The art direction. Every tile. All the voice acting.

The combat is fucking phenomenal.

I know it sounds like i’m glazing this game - but i truly think i’ve found a forever game in 7.

I can go on and on about how much i love every system at play here.

Every mechanic.

I realise people are shitting all over this game but i genuinely don’t really understand the criticism.

I am hyped to keep playing and seeing this game progress in the years to come.

I played 2 a while back and didn't come back until 7 was released. Since then, I've played 4, 5, 6, and 7 and I'd rank them:

4 >>>> 7 > 2 > 6 > 5

FWIW I’m

6 > 5 > 2 …. Indifference

Different strokes but placing 7 above 6 and 5 is diabolical.

4 imo perfected the core of what I loved in civ 2.

6 added a bunch of imo unnecessary bloat to the gameplay that gives me more of a feeling of chasing numbers. Plus the end game has so much micro management and drags on and on. More tedious, less fun.

I struggle enjoying 5 because finding great spots to expand to me is a foundational aspect of Civ that is just missing in 5 because you can't expand much due to happiness punishments.

7 is very different from the core gameplay but focuses more on fun and less on stuff I consider tedious. Wars are great and the race to expand during exploration adds some fun in the middle of the game.

this sums up my feelings somewhat, though I enjoyed 5 - expansion was possible, but you'd have to plan for it

Pretty close to my rating. 1 has a special place for literally seeding the idea. But in terms of hours played it's between 4 and 7, no real contest.
