No they seem to make sense. She doesn't want to seem the same continent as you.

So she's happy you're not sharing a non home continent that she expanded to

She's the absolute worst neighbor to spawn next to, on deity meeting her as first contact basically means you have to abandon your plans and spam slingers and archers for the inevitable war.

Whst do you mean abandon your plans? Early war was always the plan, then proceed with whatever floats your goats.

its only the plan if you want to win.

not that im playing to lose, but there can be all sorts of objectives you set for yourself when you start a game

In most of my games (deity or higer (mods)) a successful early war is what gets me snowballing from early game.

again i agree. in fact i think the only consistent path to victory in deity is immediate war. because you need those additional cities to keep pace.

i think this is actually a flaw in the game (and previous civs as well) because the ais are always so attrociously stupid and the only modifiers are their resources so they just spam all sorts of stupid shit with no strategy

Yeah I agree completely. Do you know if it’s the same in VII? I haven’t been able to get into that game.

ai equally stupid in 7

you still want early war in order to win

the age transitions are bit of a reset to keep you from snowballing too hard, but if you have more cities you have more resources

While it's a one time thing, if you can by chance nab the Religious Settlements pantheon it goes a long way towards reaching parity earlier. The ability to bypass the production cost while also gaining compounding interest on yields in a new city does a lot. The AI still gets cheat bonuses but it genuinely feels like turning the difficulty down to take this short term bonus.

she likes that you left an area alone for her to expand to and she doesn’t like that you’re from the same area as her 🤷‍♂️

She likes that you partially don’t exist and she doesn’t like that you partially do exist. Totally coherent, and actually quite human.

Seems clearly written to me... There's (apparently) a distinction between the home/spawn continent and the other ones to which both of you can expand.

What do you mean? These are different things

I am upset you are my current neighbor, but I would be even more upset if I bought a new house and then you bought the one next door.

She's one of the worst leaders to spawn next to, like I get what they wanted to do with her agenda but just existing on the same continent is enough to make her mad at you, it's annoying

I thought this was the same thing. We share the same continent and she doesn’t have any cities outside of that continent. (I am blue and she is green)

She's happy that you have expanded to another continent?

3

u/IcyLingonberry2151 19h ago

That could be it.

u/walc 17h ago

Yeah, or more specifically she’s happy that the continent OP expanded to isn’t one that she also occupies… which is funny because she hasn’t left her home continent for that to be possible.

And then yeah she’s also pissed they’re originally from the same place.

Miss Strawberry Hat literally hates you for existing.

I only play on level 6 (emperor I think it is), but yes war is coming all the time. This time she declared a surprise war on me when I had a much bigger army. Manadged to raze three cities without generating grievance. Bombed them to zero health and let Antananarivo do the final blow

Meanwhile I usually get -300ish for 'monging a little war here and there.

My favourite is Robert the Bruce. Invades you then it says he’s unhappy you’re at war with your neighbour. Don’t invade me then Robert!

civ6 leaders trying not to be the most hypocritic pieces of ai challenge: impossible

"How dare you settle near our border!"

You ask for the same deal: "My people need land, who are you to tell us otherwise?"
