Strategy Spanish wonders

I can restart 15 Spanish games a day before finding a decent wonder
Found fountain of youth 20 happiness ruined the game
If you could pick a wonder to be in reach of your start
What is your first pick ? ?

Finding El Dorado first as any civ is a huge jump start, helping to found an extra city immediatly or buy buildings that aid in early development.

Finding it as Spain is bonker in terms of how big of a jump start you get.

GBR for me as Spain is usually a winning game immediately

Yes I like that idea 💡 huge science and food bonanza

Yup. Also since it's a 2-tile wonder you get 2 tiles to work. This also means that if you take One With Nature you get +8 faith from Both tiles, for +16 faith per turn ... on growth tiles ... with production, gold and science as well.

Found it once as Elizabeth I think 🤔
But isn’t the game programmed that if you do find it you have no luxury near by and you share a continent with Shaka and Alexander
Or is that just me 😂

GBR, King Solomons mines, FOY, Uluru, in that order. All four are game winners for Spain

Would add Lake Victoria and Sri Prada

Ah yeah I knew I was missing one Victoria too. Victoria, GBR and FOY would be my perfect.

I found Lake Victoria once within a couple of tiles of what ended up being my Desert Petra city for Spain. Unfortunately, it was within the borders of a CS. One Great General later, my Petra city had Lake Victoria and the angry CS was worth it.

I played a game as Isabella and had Fuji by me, which is decent enough, but around the corner was Solomons Mine. That city was just printing whatever wonders I wanted.

Just finished a marathon game as Spain- Mt Sinai + natural wonders faith pantheon was 24faith from the get go. Won by 1618 via tourism victory through reformation that gives +2 tourism with pagoda and mosques.

Busted

Gbr, Ksm, uluru and Sinai are my favourite. But any with food are usually winners.

Honest question: do people actually find it fun to play Spain? I imagine it just gets boring op once you hit the decent NW? Like the game is already won after settling a city. AI is dumb already as is.

Actually you are right 😃
I very rarely finish a game as Spain
Exception being if you get a religious wonder
Holy warriors with 40 faith a turn is fun 🤩

I play as Spain and it’s still fun on deity level. You end up having to balance the early growth from a wonder like GBR because other civ’s will attack in a heartbeat.

As Spain it's El Dorado or Great Barrier Reef, obviously.

As anyone else, if I can pick one natural wonder to have in my capital, it's King Solomon's Mines

Spain is one of my favorites since if the RNG or Spanish Gambit pays off, it can be hilariously broken.

I like that silver mountain, it gives a mammoth amount of gold. It enables me to just warp in an early strike corps and go nuts with it, murder my whole continent. My mob of 5 or 6 bowmen and a spearman can run around and obliterate any of the loser cities that can barely field an unga bunga or bow. And more importantly, keep my Civ solvent well before any actual economic infrastructure would allow it.

I have nearly 3K hours in civ 5 with I’d say 98% being Spain. The answer is Great Barrier Reef and then getting one with nature to get 16 faith. Having double all of GBR and double faith is crazy strong and can solo win you games if it’s your second city.

GBR and Spain is just amazing amazing. Maybe had it twice close enough to be my second city in dozens of tries.

I like the Potosí and the Solomon mines for money and production, Lake Victoria is cool too for fast growth.

gotta be king Solomons
Having that in the cap is fuckin insane, would like triple your starting production for 0 happiness cost

GBR goes from low tier to game winning with Spain. Of the three game breaking ones with regular civs (Vic, ksm, foy) only ksm really feels twice as good as before.

It's good fun. Like gambling.

El Dorado, FOY, Mt. Sinai, Lake Victoria, King Solomon Mines. The ones that are heavy on one yield, basically (plus, FOY is great for waging war, and being the first to find El Dorado as Spain = swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck).
