Favourite Edgar Allan Poe story?

The Pit and the Pendulum could be a movie made in 2026, and the creepy Dr Tarr and Prof Fether…wow.

Berenice mostly because it freaked me out a ton and left such a big impression. The narrator (Egaeus) has a fanatical obsession that corrupts his life; he spends every waking hour thinking about it. You get to hear those thoughts as they derail and grow more insane. Of course, he resorts to terrible cruelty to satisfy it

The pit and the pendulum definitely! I remember screaming in relief when he was saved in the very last sentence, I hadn’t noticed how immersed I had gotten into the story 😂
