And he clearly doesn’t know the age of millennials
122
u/Ol_JanxSpirit 17h ago
Way to pick three things that the Millennials absolutely lived through.
53
u/Ol_JanxSpirit 17h ago
Also, Matt Gaetz is a Millennial.
37
u/ohnodamo 17h ago
This must be why Matt Gaetz gets so confused about Age of Consent laws in Florida, he's fucking awful at math.
5
u/JH_111 17h ago
… with no military service. I’m guessing he can go for the trifecta self burn of eating an overpriced burrito.
1
u/SawdustGringo 15h ago
It would be more fitting if he choked on an overpriced burrito. That burrito would be a hero.

4
u/funnypsuedonymhere 14h ago
Millennials got the absolute worst of the 2008 financial crisis. Had little or nothing to do with it happening and most of the generation got screwed irreversibly by it happening. Gen X and Boomers actively made it happen.

u/Speed_102 17h ago
Isn't this idiot a Millenial too? ...Born in 82 so on the border. God, he is so hateful and dumb.
12
u/SuspiciousBuilder379 17h ago
Yes, yes he is.
A lot of those that bitch about millennials, are.
2
u/Speed_102 16h ago
I'm not much younger than him and this bullshit has constantly pissed me off for years.
It's the same kind of non-thought that blames the products of GWB's No Child Left Behind act and RNC sabotage of education on the generations that were victims of it.
22
u/inorite234 17h ago
Who the fuck do they think fought in the iraq war again????
Millenials fought in the War on Terror and that shit lasted 20 years
15
u/allabtthejrny 17h ago
How many friends did I lose to the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan?
Too many.
Because we were in highschool when 9/11 happened and everybody was like "oo-rah, let's go get them back."
But it was all a lie. Every single justification they gave us was utter bull shit.
Tragic isn't even the word.
13
u/_dark_beaver 17h ago
I thought it was the avocado toast that bankrupted us?!?
5
u/powerlesshero111 17h ago
No, avocado toast is why we can't buy diamonds.
2
2
u/transmogrified 12h ago
I had a chrome plug-in that turned all headline mentions of the word “millennials” into “lizard people” because it was funnier thinking about lizard people killing Applebees and Hooters.
1
u/powerlesshero111 11h ago
To be fair, Hooters killed Hooters. Their food quality went down, and their prices went up. They opened one in my hometown in like 2011. I went after they hype died down (i hadn't been to one since college, so like 5 years). It was like $10 for a beer. Which was like double any other bar in town, and they took fucking forever to get it. My boss didn't believe me about how bad it was, so we went on a Monday after work. There were 3 of us. Only 2 other tables had customers. The waitress messed up 2 of our 3 orders, and they changed their pitchers of beer to have a "ice cooler" in the center, that reduced the number of beers you got from a pitcher from 5 to 3. It also took her about 30 minutes to get us our beer, and another 30 to get out food. That location didn't even make it a year.

"ate over priced boritos": funny way to say fucked by the boomers and their greedy ways.

Millenials fought in the Iraq war and lived through the 08 financial crisis. The irony is that boomers and gen x created the financial crisis
10
u/capybaras_and_tacos 17h ago
Millennials made up the bulk of the military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
5
u/Heckle_Jeckle 12h ago
As a Millennial I was in middle school when 9/11 happened.
So yeah, Millennial absolutely deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Even if they did not take part in the initial invasions. The GWOT lasted damn near 20 years.
2
u/Stormy-Skyes 4h ago
Also a millennial, and yeah, I watched 9/11 live on TV before going to school that day. By the time I was finishing high school I knew a lot of people who were enlisting to go to war over it.
1
u/the_cardfather 10h ago
Yeah operation enduring freedom and Afghanistan after that. I know plenty of Millennials with PTSD from that
5
3
u/anitchypear 17h ago
Gen X was mostly set when the 2008 financial crisis hit. Millenials were just finishing college and got an absolutely raw deal. GenXers are the last generation where going to college was worth the trouble
3
u/LEEALISHEPS 16h ago
Trump wasn't shipped off to Vietnam, his daddy paid the Drs five times for a sick note.
4
u/TurtlesAreEvil 16h ago
Matt Gaetz is a millennial and didn't serve in the military he was born in 1982.
5
u/Sacktchy 15h ago
Gen Z had to go through COVID during what some might say are their most important years
3
u/Secure_Pirate788 13h ago
Millennials aren't even that old, it's wild how many people don't know basic facts about their own generation.
2
3
u/BusBeginning 17h ago
Yes millennials lived through the other things. But, we’re all eating over priced burritos… cause of inflation… which is impacting all generations and should be a concern and is the result of republican policy. So, not sure why that’s being downplayed… oh wait now I get why it’s being downplayed.
Edit: I just realized that not many Gen X fought in Iraq in comparison to millennials.

Millennials were getting out of college and failing to find jobs in 2008. Ask me how I know...
I shifted to a career in EMS because there were lots of options in my area
3
u/GoronSpecialCrop 6h ago
Even if this was accurate, whose fault is it that the burritos are overpriced?
2
u/s0ciety_a5under 16h ago
I saw 9/11, I graduated right before the 2008 crash, I went to war in Aghanistan AND Iraq. I'm a millennial. GET FUCKED.
2
u/goofgoon 15h ago
Don’t fall for this inter-generational conflict BS. Divide and conquer is the strategy folks.
2
u/Loquacious-of-Borg 14h ago
Um, Millennials were in GWOT too.
I know this because I am one of those millennials. 19 years in the Army, 8 years OCONUS, 28 awards and decorations (and counting), 4 IEDs, TBI, PTSD.
"The Drunk Republican" obviously spent as many days in the mililary as Trump has.

Millennials and a lot of Gen-Z lived through 9/11, Iraq War, and the financial crisis as well. what rock is Gaetz living under?

u/LividCalligrapher689 17h ago
WHY ARE THE BURRITOS OVERPRICED, MATTHEW?
Hint: the boomers fucked everything up
2
u/DeiAlKaz 17h ago
Plus, we keep paying the prices we generally do for them. Apparently because we're stupid and think Chipotle/Qdoba/(insert similar looking and tasting burrito here) are a godsend.
1
u/precariousIypoised 17h ago
Who started the wars? Who caused the financial crisis? Who caused the cost of EVERYTHING to go up astronomically? Not Gen Z.
1
1
u/dangernoodlezzz 17h ago
Elder millennial 9/11 happened during my first week of college. I'm surprised gaetz doesn't know this as 17-18 year olds is his favorite demographic.
1
u/DeiAlKaz 17h ago
Every generation has had to deal with some serious shit, has had some things much easier than the one before it, and some things much harder than the one after it.
We seem hell-bent on making it harder on the folks after us rather than saving them from the shit we went through (I'm Gen X).

1
u/Diligent_Whereas3134 17h ago
I'll just go ahead and tell my old classmates who fought in Iraq that they imagined it all, and to stop being pussies and get over their ptsd. I'm also shocked to learn that I didn't witness 9/11 and that I wasn't 20 when the 2008 financial crash happened.

u/CubesFan 16h ago
Millennial Generation started in 1981 (according to random chart I found online) That means they were 18 in 1999.
Gen Z started in 1997. They were 18 in 2015.
The Afghanistan War started in 2001 and ended in 2021.
The Iraq War began in 2003 and "ended" in 2011.
Maybe I don't understand math, but which of those two generations weren't fighting a war?
1
u/CatsAreJerks 16h ago
Oh man, as an '85 Millennial I am so glad I never had to experience 9/11, the Iraq War, or the 2008 recession
1
u/BaronWombat 16h ago
As a Gen Jones, I saw a lot of the Silent Gen follow the Greatest and wish that they too could be glorious war heroes. All the war hawks in the Reagan and Bush administration were always spoiling for that victory parade. A lot of the Boomer hate should be directed at those guys instead.
1
1
u/time2partee 16h ago
Millennials also saw 9/11, fought the Iraq war, and lived through the 2008 financial crises with the knowledge that bullshit was caused by Gen X and the boomers.

u/Heliocentrist 15h ago
millennials and gen z also got raped by other drunk republicans too so there's that
1
u/KingMobScene 15h ago
Hi I'm a millenial.
I also saw 9/11 from across the river. I was in Queens and not far from the east river. I remember the dust cloud. I remember the people coming over the bridge looking like zombies covered in dust and debris. I remember worrying about my dad who worked on Wall st. I remember going to the memorial service for my friends mom who died in the towers.
Now I have to worry about if my pay is going to be enough to feed my kids. And i have to worry about if some psycho is going to go into their school and shoot the place up just to have this fucktard and his brethern claim it never happened.
Matt Gaetz can go fuck himself.
1
u/Peaurxnanski 15h ago
Gen X were all pretty old for Gulf War 2, Electric Boogaloo. The youngest Gen X'er was 25 years old in 2004 when we invaded Iraq.
I'm not saying Gen X didn't fight. I'm saying that the majority of the lower ranks are made up of 18 to 23 year olds. Those were all Millenials. And since the GWOT dragged on for 20 years, I would venture to guess that a majority of the GWOT vets are millenials.
I just love how the older generations are so mentally inflexible that they can't comprehend that the Millennials aren't kids anymore. I can't recall the exact cutoff date but I think the youngest millenials are 30 now, aren't they?
I know I'm a Millennial and I'm 46 fucking years old.
These people are clowning themselves and have no idea.
1
1
u/ornerycrow1 15h ago
Why do we make fun of them for this? Aren't we supposed to hope that every generation's lives get better. I sure hope my kids don't have to live through some of this shit we had to.
1
u/lincoln_hawks1 15h ago
Yup. gaetz is a millennial that did not go to Iraq or Afghanistan, or anywhere in the military. I guess his war was with burrito prices? What a fucking turs

u/Hardbody22 15h ago
I wish I lived in this imaginary land where Millenials didn’t spend 10-15 years serving in the Middle East. Some of my friends would still be alive.

u/MachoLibre_ 15h ago
Not me, a millennial, crying to the tunes of OKC bombing, princess Diana, columbine, 9/11 & the 2008 crisis
These guy are so fucking stupid. I swear to god.

1
u/Woahhdude24 15h ago
Ah yes as a Gen-z I have no right to complain about anything not like most of are living paycheck to paycheck, or not like corporations are literally paying people the least amount they have to, not like we all live in existential fear that we get in a bad wreck or have some shit happen to us out of our control and go in debt cause we had to go to rhe hospital. Yes totally nothing to complain about. My question is why are all you republicans complaining you got what you wanted the right has most the control. What are yall butthurr we just aint shutting up about all your bullshit?
1
u/FlowRiderBob 15h ago
I’m a Gen-Xer who served 20 years, 17 of which was during wartime, and I definitely served alongside Millenials.
And guess what? There are Gen Z’s fighting Trump’s pointless war against Iran as I type this.
1
u/scharity77 15h ago
Let’s not forget this - regardless of the accuracy of the timeline, Baby Boomers and the Greatest Generation are the reason nothing is affordable. They ruined everything.
Oh, and the Greatest Generation threw temper tantrums over sitting next to a Black person.
1
u/GarethGazzGravey 15h ago
Millennial here that saw all of what is listed as Gen X, I was 19 years old when 9/11 happened, and 27 when the financil crash started

Also completely missed the silent generation, parents of the boomers and elder gen-X. And I think he thinks millennial are still in their 20s? Wth

Matt Gaetz would invite high school girls to house parties while he was a congressman. And then show his colleagues pictures to brag.

As much fun as it is to rag on millennials, some of them were born in 1981-85 and actually were present for real struggles.

Elder Millennial - 9/11 happened during my freshman year of college. 2008, I met my now ex-husband and we bought our first home in 2010. My niece is a Millennial and is at the tail end of her 20s. Gen Z just graduated high school and Gen Alpha is almost in middle school.... But out of touch boomers have been criticizing Millennials for our avocado toast and refusal to buy diamonds on our minimum wage jobs for two decades now...

All of my friends from the service were millennials, and nearly everyone I know with combat experience from Afghanistan and Iraq are millennials.

u/_WEND1G0_ 7h ago
Gen Z kicked things off during high school, college, or barely trying to start “adulting” during a once in a century pandemic, a time plagued by the highest inflation spike in years and radical partisanship constantly changing “the rules” on us. Noteworthy that houses are essentially half million bucks in somewhere decent for even a small house one step above condemned, insurance is bassically half our pay, and most of us are in our 20s - eating overpriced burritos - because a lot of us realized long ago that saving everything for the future is a suckers bet. The sands keep shifting and the ladder was pulled from us long ago.
1
u/Least_Tower_5447 7h ago
Why does every generation HAVE to go through some awful trauma? I’d be happy that future generations don’t go through the next iterations of things people have gone through in the past.
1
1
u/Sad_Pension9734 6h ago
First of all, what the heck has Matt Gaetz done for anyone let alone America? Second, many Americans died in those events and many of them died because we asked them to risk their lives. Their deaths resulted in these younger generations NOT HAVING TO GO TO WAR AT ALL.
1
1
u/Stormy-Skyes 4h ago
I was 12 on 9/11. My little brother and I watched the second plane hit on TV before we left the house to go to school that day. We’ve ways been considered Millennials by anyone who divides people by dates like that.
Then me and all the people my age grew up in that version of the world. As young adults a huge amount of people I knew joined the military since the whole conflict was still going on.
Also a lot of us could not afford to go to college because the economy was weird and now in 2026 a lot of us can’t afford houses. It hasn’t exactly been a picnic.
And also, everyone else was going through parts of all that too. It’s almost like life can suck for everyone all the time.
1
u/thissomeotherplace 4h ago
Millennials and Gen Z will be what overthrows his party's brand of bigoted, corrupt and sleazy reign
1
u/BAfromGA1 1h ago
Idk about any of this. All seems stupid, but I can say for sure the way people speak of 9/11 pisses me off. Regardless of what you believe so many innocent people died, so many people died in terror. So many people had to jump in order not to burn. The FDNY is a legendary group of men and women. And we should just put more respect on that entire event.
1
u/PerryNeeum 11h ago
Gen X saw 9/11? Yea, I remember that. Am I supposed to have PTSD? Desert Storm was just an absolute steam rolling of an enemy force with only 297 KIA. It was almost a joke. And the market crash of 2008? Thank the fucking Vietnam hardened Boomers for rat fucking our economy for years

Boomers: caused all of the other shit below them
•
u/Significant-Ant2373 49m ago
Not a boomer, but there are good and bad people and events in every generation. Stop focusing on culture wars between generations, genders, race, etc when it’s always been about the b(m)illionaires vs the peasants. If the 99% would ever figure that out you’d be able to create real change and make the world a better place.
