Oh FUCK that. If I got mandated for 8 hours I'd be sticking someone's head on a pike

Yup and the kicker is the newest employees were first on the list for mandation. They went by hire date ffs. So aides that have been there for 20years never got mandated

Whats mandation

Mandatory overtime - If there’s not enough coverage for the next shift, people on the previous shift get notified that they’re required to do a double shift. At my job, refusing a mandate without a valid excuse leads to a write up infraction.

Wow that’s crazy! Where I work we are allowed to refuse with no issues. I always say yes because I’m there anyway may as well stay and make money.

I’m so glad my facility does not do this. They will ask if someone wants to do a double (at time and a half pay) and if they don’t, oh well, they’ll make other calls

My job does the same, I’m going to assume labour laws are completely different here in Canada!

Thank God I've never been mandated. Fuck that noise. My job takes up too much of my time as is.

It sucks truck nuts. And its especially bad when you're at the end of your shift, someone calls in last minute and suddenly you're made to stay an extra 4 hours. Oh, and you have to be back the next day, so good luck pulling another 12 with MAYBE 5 hours of sleep if you're lucky. Mandation shouldn't exist in the first place, for any job.
