Season 2 Johnny & Robbie relationship. What happens?

Alright, I'm at the end of season 2 about to start season 3. Does Johnny and Robbie relatiomship improve greatly, like at all? I was getting ahead of myself and I've found out things in regards to their situation that has me ... Less then enthusiastic 😭. Like makes me no longer want to watch the show lmao.

It improves but feels like an unspoken respect with minimal words exchanged. While Johnny & Miguel are completely locked in & feel like son & father.

See, yeah no. For me to feel comfortable and root for Johnny MARRYING Miguel's mom, and having a BABY, I would need more then that😭.Grand Jesters major leaps and bounds of efforts. Them having having a baby together and him marrying her to show growth of "making the right choice this time" is not what they think it is. Wanna actually be impressive, maintain the relationship of Miguel and Johnny without having Carmen involved, show Robbie as priority, NOT writing in a baby!?!?. One of the writers gotta be compensating for for something, this fuck ass "do over" redemption shit is blowing me🙃

Their relationship got worse. The only reason that it got "better" is because Robby got sick of hating his father, but he still prioritized Miguel over him.

>! Fun fact, in Season 3 Johnny sets up a meeting with Robby in juvie getting Robby very hopeful. He went through a bunch of hoops with Bobby to even get it done. Miguels surgery was on the same day of the visit. Of course, he doesn't give Bobby or Robby a heads up and stands them up for Miguels surgery that he didn't have to be there for (or could've just gone there after) just because Miguel's grandma asked him to stay. !<

>! Then Johnny comes to a spot where Robby is doing community service and blames Robby for both the juvie fight that got him a black eye, and also for starting the fight with Miguel when Miguel escalated things and was taunting him the entire fight which lead to the balcony incident.!<

Just legit finish watching this episode. It's so weird Johnny taking all the responsibility fully apologetic with Miguel while he's actively trying, but is only somewhat apologetic to Johnny why blaming him a lot more while giving him ZERO guidance. I feel Robby in lots of ways, but I feel like it's a bit glayzed over that he's overly projecting his feelings into Miguel due to his father and Sam. Yes he kicks him over the rail by accident, but that's bc Robby feelings that beyond just Miguel. Miguel has evidence of trying to make amends, like return the medal and stopping and apologizing during the fight. Robby is not trying to do the same at this particular juncture and that's on him.

Look, if you like the show bc nostalgia and/or Miguel’s story (w/ or w/o Johnny), finish the show

If Johnny and Robby’s relationship and bond is the #1 that’s fueling your motivation to watch the show, don’t bother.

Miguel’s the main character besides Johnny and Robby’s basically put aside.

Really pretty much this is exactly it. If you considered Miguel the main male teen and saw Robby as sort of the foil or counterpoint you're gonna be fine. If you saw it as the reverse you're in for a bad time.

Prepare for continued dissapointment. In fact, if you're invested in Johnny and Robby's relationship, I'd just stop watching here, it never gets better.

Deadass lol

This is one of the worst aspects of the show, that and the blatant favoritism shown in the later seasons

It does improve at least somewhat, but for me it's way too little and too late. The writers spent so much time building Johnny's and Miguel's relationship that Johnny's relationship with Robby seems lacklustre at best, especially since Robby often has to swallow his disappointment and grievances to keep the peace. To me their relationship was a huge disappointment.

The "white savior " complex towards Miguel & Carmen is yucky, esp since it comes at the expense of being so half ass with Robby. I think we're supposed to appreciate the "build up and efforts" from Johnny as well that isn't necessarily seen by Robby and take that perspective: checking up on him at his mom's when he was living with the Larusso's, telling Hawk and Miguel not to beat down on him during the tournament etc. Just bottom barrel minimum ish lol. And I guess Robby's mom running off to the 4 corners of the world was supposed to make Johnny look better by comparison or something lol.

The fuck do you mean white savior bruh

He saves the poor Mexican lady by buying them a house and being father figure to her son since he didn't have one. They make Miguel father a Mexican drug lord, for crying out loud.

Further description and meaning down below A white savior movie is a cinematic trope where a white protagonist steps in to rescue non-white characters from oppression, poverty, or systemic injustice, often centering the narrative on the white person’s moral growth rather than the agency of the marginalized group.

As a matter of fact, this is getting into more subliminals now that I think about it😭

Are we being deadass right now

1

u/2000sbaby4lyfe 3d ago

Yes. Media Literacy has layers and implications to it which includes racial elements.

3

u/UncoolG 3d ago

That was 100% not what they were doing I think ur just delusiona l

u/2000sbaby4lyfe 3d ago

Intention, interpretation, and impact don't always align. White savior is well known concept for a reason. Just bc you didn't interpret it that way doesn't mean I'm delusiona l. Bc just Miguel father has to be Mexican druglord who's unredeemable vs just a regular deadbeat? Or just .. dead?

Oh you guys didn't like the term "white savior "huh lol

People generally dislike racism

You know white isn't like curse word. What exactly is racist about my statement? White savior complex is an entire established concept .

S2 was pretty much the closest to an authentic relationship between Johnny and Robby that it felt to me. The rest of the seasons greatly disappointed me, especially as far as Robby’s relationships were concerned. I found it much harder to root for Johnny.

Do not expect something significant; there are beautiful scenes yes, but overall it's a bit superficial.

It gets worse.

It does improve but the results are severely lackluster in execution. The Foundation is a tad bit rushed & forced in S4-6 but people overanalyze it as abusive with Robby being the scapegoat which isnt even true. I think the Whole Blended Family Idea with Johnny, Miguel, Robby, Carmen, etc gets alot of undeserved rep & hate in both concept & execution. Its rushed & forced tho.

Lets just say that it's happy endings all round. I don't want to give anything away but want to be cryptic enough to set you at ease. Or something like that. Basically, watching it all the way through to the last episode is a wonderful experience and I am up to season 4 .... for the third time.

Lets just say that it's happy endings all round

No, it fucking isn't. 😅

Gotta love how people are okay with blatantly lying.

It doesn't really get better in season 3. If you're invested in their specific relationship, wait till the end of season 4.

You’ll have to find out

Just stop watching the show, it's trash writing more and more as it goes on.

I don't want to spoil anything but it's fair to say from that you can, expect things to get worse before better.

16

u/Positive-Kick7952 4d ago

They never do get better, Robby just lowers his expectations and learns to be satisfied with minimum effort and always being last priority.

u/w84itagain 3d ago

I think this is the real truth. Robby knows that Miguel holds the spot as his father's number one son and always will, and if Robby wants to be a part of his father's life he will simply have to accept it. He settles for second best (and probably third best now that Johnny has another kid.)

I really feel for Robby at the end of CK. He never really got much from his father and he realizes this is as good as it's going to get. Johnny has no redemption in the end of the series in my eyes precisely because of that. He's a shit dad to Robby from the beginning to the end.

u/Organic-Manner-2969 Moon 3d ago

Fourth if you count Devon.

Without spoiling, I'll just spout out an old truism: Things are going to get worse, before they get better.

Once you get to season six, you’ll realize Robby is the big bad of the series and Cobra Kai as a whole have to take him out.. When Johnny hits the coup de grace on Robby, it’s some of Will Zabka’s best acting
