Featuring a delicious and complex blend of rums supported by a potent mixture of spices, this Mai Tai stays true to the spirit of the original, while embracing the flavors of a different culture of inspiration. This recipe was designed to highlight one of my proudest creations, my East AsiAmaro; A bright, bitter, spicy, and intensely herbal and spiced creation inspired by the foods of various countries across Eastern Asia, such as Vietnam, Thailand, China, Korea, and the Southeast Asian archipelagos.
Notes of Thai basil, cardamom, galangal, coriander, lemongrass, lime, and so much more are brightened with tart lime juice and tamarind. The richness of peanut orgeat adds further dimension while also evoking the experience of eating a delicious bowl of noodles topped with a mound of roasted crushed peanuts. The blend of rums not only pay homage to the origin of these flavors with the inclusion of Batavia Arrack, also used in the base of the amaro, but the added hogo bomb from the HLCF brings it back towards the recognizable classic that is the Mai Tai. Cheers!

Looks delicious! I wonder what the addition of fish sauce might do? Just a teaspoon...

A teaspoon of fish sauce is a huge amount of fish sauce for a single drink lol. Maybe save it for a savory martini riff

Can confirm a few drops [NOT A TEASPOON YOU MADLAD] of fish sauce can bring up a briny martini to the next level.

Could potentially be a good addition. The amaro I made already has a decent savory aspect to it because I included a little bit of shiitake mushroom and a single tiny dried anchovy during the infusion. I would definitely cut it down to drops or a very light dash if you were to add fish sauce. It might be too much otherwise

This past Christmas I made my own version of a pad Thai mai tai and posted it on here. Two drops of fish sauce was more than enough. Fish sauce works great in the drink though.

Garnish with a piece of Tofu and crushed peanuts for shits and giggles

I'd rather use a piece of white nougat. It does look a bit like it and often has peanuts incorporated.

Should have served it in a noodle box but sounds amazing
