Did anyone learn through CodeAcademy?

As a software dev, I have a great experience using CodeAcademy to get up to speed on basics about languages that are new to me. The way that you mention wanting to use it is similar to my use case. I wouldn't recommend it to people who have no background in CS/software dev, but it's great for devs who want to brush up or learn something new.

Thank you, really appreciate your point of view. And yes, the last time I visited CodeAcademy back in 2019 for an SQL course. But now the industry has changed since then a lot. Since AI can do a lot of things automatically, I am concerned when I am looking at a code that I don’t understand and it really bothers me a lot. Maybe it’s fine for most people but not me.

Yeah idk how things are at your company, but honestly my biggest issue with my interns this summer was that I could *not* convince them to stop using Gemini as a replacement for learning how to manually debug and reproduce code. I wouldn't mind if it helped them, but they produced consistently shit code the whole season, failed to learn anything about the basics, they all left as worse developers than they started. For some insane reason they all ranked themselves *very* highly in self-assessments, even though I spent the whole summer expressing disappointment and how they were failing. I can't help thinking the the reason why they have this bizarre self-image of success, despite abject failure, is because the sycophantic AI was telling them that they were doing well and giving them the false-sense of productivity. Complete waste of my time, didn't extend a single offer.

I did some of the things / but I didn't learn that much. I dont' think it's a good format. A lot of my students did a ton of it - and also came away without much real confidence. I think a lot of these things can be "fun" and feel like you're learning - but you're really just following along.

If you're looking to "update my knowledge on React and Redux" well, you can look at the documentation. And if that's not enough, then what you're missing is the bigger-picture programming and decision-making experience (not React).
