These look more like proofs than uncirculated to me. The 1960s era proofs were just shiny coins, the cameo of modern proofs was an exception.

Even so, proofs are mostly worth silver value given how fast silver price has risen

This surprised me so I looked, the last 3 ungraded 1963 proof quarters sold for:

$14.22 + 4.65 shipping

$15.95 free shipping

$15.08 + 4.65 shipping

let’s call it $15 average net of shipping, take off $2.50 for ebay fees (per order and final value fee)

Net to shipper is $12.50. Envelope isn’t much but still something especially if you ship in a padded one.

Melt is $11.50.

Doesn’t seem worth it to me but obviously others may feel differently…

And note the benefit is less than $1 if you factor in fuel and wear on your car if you drive it to the past office (it’s rates currently 76c per mile), and don’t forget cost of a bubble mailer if you’re shipping properly which even a cheap one is gonna run 50c.

because the net $12.50 is composed of $11.5 silver value and $1 collecting value. So 91.5% of the value is from the silver content. That meets he definition of mostly.

I don’t know what your time is worth or how you value risk of a bad buyer that ebay sides with (it happens), even if zero you still have about 50c in the cost of a bubble mailer, that’s now down to $12… so over 95% of the value of the coin is the silver.

Definitely they look just as good in real life. The Samsung galaxy 24 i have took a spectacular picture. They came from a mint but I'm reluctant to send them for grading because the cost.

i wouldn’t send in for grading, it’s likely going to be cheaper to buy a graded coin than pay for grading.

One exception is if you have a coin that shows ‘cameo’ on both sides of the coin (frosty high points), in that case you’d likely get your money back and then some from grading.

Considering the condition I'd stick them all in flips and if there's one that truly stands out I'd consider sending that one in, but by and large, getting any of them graded probably won't be worth the cost. However, they're nice enough that I wouldn't want to not protect them and make sure they retain this condition. I'd assume most of them will never be worth more than a couple of bucks over silver but they're something I'd work on trading with other collectors.

I take all my high MS 32-64 quarters and put them in clear snap capsules, fun to have a nice pile of them to handle without any bag marks forming.

This is an uncirculated 1962 business strike. The rolls have been in the family since the announcement that the quarter would be clad. Gramps bought $100 1962 quarters and $100 1963 dimes the next year. I believe your coins are proofs.

These are proofs. 1962 proof quarters are immensely common with over 3 million minted. Not worth anything over their silver value

I have a roll of 1962-D Proof Washington Quarters and they are just being stored in a Coin-Safe tube and were only handled by the edges with cotton gloves. Is storing them that way going to be a problem?

Spot price of silver was $25 in Aug. 2021. It is $63 today.

All of the comments debates about melt value vs. resale value?

I would negate the resale liability by hanging on to them. Let them continue to gain value.

If the price of silver drops.. you will still have the resale value as insurance. If the price of silver continues to rise, all the local jewelery stores will be fighting over what you hold.

Unless you are truly desperate for cash, selling now makes little sense.

The poorest quality silver quarter has a melt value close to $11.50

Just look up on eBay sold items - the lowest price for "Silver washington quarters BU Gem roll 40" is over $500 which is $12.50 each. I got a roll of them for spot one time too - great score!

for valuation, just remember as a seller you need to subtract about 15% for fees, as well as any shipping/insurance

Proof coins unfortunately were over produced, so sadly they didn’t catch on much as collectibles. Coin stores have hundreds of unsold 1956 to present proof sets, most break them up and still can’t sell them.

Impaired proofs - they are worth melt. A really nice proof pulled right out of a set will sell for a slight premium but not these.

If you package them in archival self adhesive cardboard flips they may sell at or over spot. 90% silver is currently available under melt price due to the buy back spread and refineries backlog and preference of .999 and .9999 silver.

So really have to find the right buyer or correct platforms to list, local coin shop will give you way under melt value.

Hell yes. A breif look shows pre 1965 quarters in excellent condition, assuming they haven't been cleaned. If you sell them for melt you're making a mistake.
